AUBC Newscast:

-Newsfeed starts, an attractive female newswoman is standing infront the Vascilian Aerospace Command centre, a media frenzy is taking place and Security guards have been deployed to keep news people from entering the building.- "A historic announcement was made earlier today by the head of Vascilian Aerospace Command. Colonel Reginald Dekker had announced publicly that a joint space mission by Auman and Kajal Mars will take place. For the first time in Aumanii history our government has made plans to initiate a colonisation program. What is also unique about this mission is that it will be done in cooperation with a non-Vascilian Nation, that being Kajal Mars." -The camera pans left, a figure can be seen walking down the front steps of the Vascilian Aerospace Command centre. He is wearing the unmistakeable uniform of an Aumanii military commander. The man walks towards the permiter and points towards the AUBC Newslady. Suddenly the security officers drag her and her camera man past the hoardes of ravenous reporters. The officer introduces himself.- "Good evening Ms.Takanawa, my name is Colonel Dekker...I hear your organization has some questions about the program?" Ms. Takanawa, the AUBC reporter immediately got down to business. "Col.Dekker, I would first like to ask why the government has decided to begin colonisation? It is quite well known that previous Aumanii space policy has been "Look, don't touch" why the sudden shift?" Col.Dekker answered "Well, its simple really. Auman, and in fact Mars as a whole lacks certain resources. Vascilian Exploration missions have uncovered the existance of several rich worlds that have resources that Mars simply does not have. Tree's, ore, foodstuffs and oil are among those cheif resources that we are seeking. We assure the public and the international community that these worlds are completely uninhabited by sentient beings." Ms.Takanawa looked down at her dataslate and asked another question "Col.Dekker, why has Auman decided to launch this mission with the assistance of a non-Vascilian nation? this has never been done before." Col.Dekker crossed his arms "Well, its very simple Ms.Takanawa. Our nation has enjoyed very friendly relations with Kajal Mars since its inception. We have already joined into many pacts with them, but most importantly trade. Auman has allowed Kajal Mars to join us in the colonisation of Vergon 6 as a gesture of friendship. Allowing them access to the same resources that we have and at the same time letting them harvest it themselves...suffice it to say they will become less dependent on Kajal for resources as they would control these stocks themselves. Well, Ms.Takanawa, I have to go...I have very pressing business to attend to as you might understand." Dekker turned and walked back inside of Vascilian Aerospace Command. -News feed ends-

"The big question is where is this solar system? No real mention of it or the planets it contains - could theoretically be someplace close like DZ4 or a couple hundred lightyears away. I don't want to intrude on them and I wish them the best of luck - as it would be hypocritical not to - but let's find out where this place is. Full rundown as soon as possible. Try some casual contact through the SEC and see what we can get there before pushing out the heavy explorers."

President Al-Zeif finished and looked around his office to see if anyone had any questions. He lowered his bifocals - anacronistic but they gave his face character.

"What's next on the agenda?"

"Speaking of colony's..." Admiral Rice began...

Open Transmission to Auman/Kajal Colony Command

In the interests of science we would like to know the location of this colony system as well as a statistical rundown of the worlds therein. Habitable systems are exceeding rare and this would be a rare chance to observe an evolved system.

It's useful so you don't end up with a system with all habitable planets (extremely unlikely) and adds a good realistic base to your colonization effort.

ICly I know Im not gonna give away the location of the world before Auman and Kajal Mars get a chance to settle and lay claim. If you need to know though...if you've seen the Galactic Map made by Centuri, the Vergon system is in sector C-7 of the map. Its in the same part of the galaxy as Tabular IV, a world of Avians that have recently joined into dominion with Auman.

For the past few weeks, supplies had been shipped in to the station in orbit that had the rather... unique distinguishment of being the complex which had crippled a Melkorian battleship with one well placed shot.

Besides the point, yes, but the station itself _was_ extremely well defended, at least as far as Kajal Mars could afford it.

The supplies had been arriving steadily, and under the watch of a Fanthyra battleship, the station's construction gantries lanced between the main pylons, forming a drydock large enough to build a new class of ship, for a particular mission.

Based on designs proposed by Kajali scientists as a vessel called a "dreadnought," the massive ship's skeleton sat between two of the tall pylons of the station, which supported a vast array of solar panels that were currently somewhat out of use. The external gantry system had to be used when ships equalling the size of the Phyrsian Cruiser or larger were constructed, but unlike either the Phyrsian or Fanthyra class ships, this new ship, when completed, would be almost two thirds as long as the station was tall.

While Kajal Mars did not possess any amount of practical nanotechnology, the construction proceeded far quicker than before.

The Aesir stations had been designed with new construction technologies in mind... and Kajal Mars had designed one.

If the colony ship was a success, it would likely open up worlds of possibilities.

Construction was scheduled to end within the next two weeks, and the station's crew were having more trouble keeping the project supplied with materials then they were with the schedule. A mere 6 weeks for a ship of this size was impressive, yes... but only if the thing didn't disintegrate the moment it attempted to get underway.

OOC: Kajal Mars has pioneered a new construction system, and of course, they've been hiding it as best they can. The main concern is that this method may risk sacrificing quality for speed. ^_^;;

The Aumanii Space Defence Corps had spent many weeks in orbit of Vergon 6, the prospective colony world. 15 Vessels had garrisoned the system, their intention was to hold Vergon and keep any foreign powers from taking what was theirs. "Lord Admiral, we have recieved a communication from Aumanii Aerospace Command. They have informed us that the Kajalan colonial fleet will arrive sooner than expected." Lord Admiral Toliver grimaced, he knew that the ground force would still not arrive for another two months. "The Kajalans are six months ahead of schedule...this concerns me. None have been able to survey the land for possible dangers yet." Toliver scratched at the stubble of his chin. "Send down a boarding party to prepare the landing site." the Admirals orders were met with a chorus of 'aye's!' from the bridge crew. Toliver settled uneasily into his command throne.

Captain Bukers had finished the briefing he had been giving to his team, twenty men in total and all with their own opinions "Any questions gentleman?" asked Buker, Seargant Naik raised a hand and spoke, not waiting for permission. "Sir, why are we doing planetfall? we aren't trained for this shit...where's the Land Force?" "I think I explained that in the briefing Naik, the Kajalans are six months ahead of schedule and Land Force cant muster in time." Buker answered, Naik looked unsettled. "But sir, why do 'we' have to do this...Vergon gives me the creeps, all the tree's as they are. I've never even seen a forest before and now we have to go headlong into one? Im sorry sir, but this whole operation reaks." Buker laughed, "Isn't this what you signed up for trooper?" Trooper Naik sighed dejectedly, Buker's face turned more serious as he spoke "Alright men, get geared up and ready to go. We leave in 45 minutes."

If you guys dont watch Futurama, Vergon 6 is the planet that Zap Brannigan defeated a hoarde of kill bots using a "Brilliant" strategum...knowing the kill bots had a preset kill limit, The Zapper sent wave after wave of his own men at the enemy until the kill bots limit was reached and they shut down. The similarities between Vegon of Nationstates and Futurama are few and far between.
