Count Mirbach Victorious!
Lavenrunz
19-01-2004, 09:14
To Her Gracious Teutonic Majesty, Aurora von Sachshausen, Empress of Lavenrunz
There is a sacred agreement between the Monarch and the People to which You pledge Your oath. When You called us in the name of this agreement, to stand for the freedom of Lavenrunz and the principles which Your grandfather of memory glorious Emperor Frederick endowed in our nation, we offered ourselves to the public opinion.
It is said by some in the opposition that faith has been lost in the Monarchy. I beg Your Majesty to have faith in us, the people's chosen advisors and government, and believe that we will guide our nation to prosperity, lawfulness and unity under the loving arms of our Holy Mother Church.
Your Faithful and Obedient Servant
Count Joachim von Mirbach
Chancellor of Lavenrunz
Citizens of Lavenrunz
The polls have placed the Christian-Nationalists at the helm of the ship of government. Be assured that we intend to steer her well, guiding the nation safely through the rocks and shoals of intrigue and financial irresponsibility to the safe shore of prosperity and prestige for our country!
God bless our nation!
Count Joachim von Mirbach
Chancellor of Lavenrunz

I see you've a new chancellor to work with. Congratulations, and, of course, ever vigillant. I realize this may mean new challenges in the days ahead, but having seen you rise to the occasion so many times already, showing your strength and clear-headed reasoning, I have faith that you are up to the task.
Should you ever have need, for whatever reason, do not hesitate to contact me. Even should it just be for that friendly cup of tea I've mentioned.
Best of luck, and as your people band together to heal the recent wounds, may God watch over and protect you.

To the esteemed Count Mirbach, greetings. I wish to congratulate you not only on your recent aquittal, but to your well-earned appointment to your position of Chancellor. It would seem in my anger and irritation, that I misjudged you, for which I am sorry.
When so many things as were going on at the Ball happen, it is not always with the most clear of minds that one thinks. I hope that the words of anger between us can be put away, so that whatever path our two nations take in the future, we at least may begin with a clean slate.
With hopes that you will continue in your faith, and that God will watch over you, your Empress, and your nation,
--Nathicana D'Aquisto
"There, that ought to do it. Lets see what all this brings," Nathicana murmured, putting the final touches on both the handwritten letters, and sending them off via courier with all haste to Lavenrunz.
People of Lavenrunz GOD IS GREAT! The two Heroes of Lavenrunz will steer the nation into safe waters. The Empress has shown her love and devotion for the people by making peace in a time full of mistrust and hatred. She came in a time when her people were killed by Nephilim when they cried out their angst and frustration and it would have taken an ugly turn if it weren't for Empress Auroras wise decisions. During a long time many nations tried to force their evil wills unto the proud nation Lavenrunz and weaken it. They wanted to make Lavenrunz people second class citizens, but the people said No! The people has spoken! We trust Lavenrunz will reclaim it's proud history and once again take its rightful place in the world!

It is with gladness that I congratulate you on your electoral victory and your stand against the chaos that Lavenrunz nearly entered. To risk everything and win through in the process of democracy is a fine thing indeed.
I hope that Lavenrunz and Chimaea may continue to uphold the good relations we have in the past.

I cannot sufficiently express in words my relief to learn you were not in any way involved with the travesty at the Winter Ball; I am sure the results of the inquiry were most just.
My sincerest congratulations at your electoral victory; all the best in your administration, and let us hope that the friendship between Lavenrunz and Menelmacar remains strong. May your God bring you all that you righteously deserve, and more.
Sincerely,

Sirithil handed the flexisheet containing the letter across the desk. "Send that, Turelio. And send it right now, before I change my mind. The letter feels...dirty, and I want it away from me, now. I suppose I should be glad now that I have yet to make a public statement condemning the man."
The Prefect of State nodded, accepting the sheet. "Indeed, milady. Right away." He glanced down at it. "That last line has some incredible duality to it. Sure you want to leave it in?"
"Yes. And he, so convinced he did the right thing, will interpret it exactly how I want him to interpret it. Leave it; other than the thing about international friendship, it's the only thing keeping the entire letter from being a lie."
"Yes, milady." Turelio bowed slightly, and withdrew.

Warlord Garrand stood behind his desk, facing his window, his hands clasped behind his back. He watched the orcs dig and bustle about, working the vast forges underneath Thangorodrim. He mulled over the Lavenrunz situation in his head. Iesus and the Reich seemed to be pretty happy that this fellow was in power, the Menelmacari less so, of course. He wondered if this Mirbach character would be worth getting to know.
Turning, he rested his palms flat on his desk, and leaned forward on his haunches. He cracked his neck. Perhaps a visit was in order--he had to learn more about this new Chancellor, and if his allegances might yet be swayed to his master. Wasting no time, he composed a missive:

Public Diplomatic Transmission to Count Joachim von Mirbach, Chancellor of Lavenrunz:
"Greetings and salutations, Count Mirbach. Your situation greatly interests both myself and my superiors--we've been watching the situation off and on for some time now, but I feel disappointingly lacking in the department of firsthand knowledge. It would certainly be an honor for us if we could arrange some sort of diplomatic mission. I'm hoping we can stitch some sort of relationship together, with your blessing. Please, let us know what you think. We're looking forawrd to hearing back from you."

Count Mirbach raised an eyebrow. General von Mesmer dryly commented, passing the letter back, that "Nathicana is one of the few heads of state who can walk on both sides of the street at the same time."
To Her Ladyship, the Dread Lady Nathicana
It would please me greatly to put the awkward incidents of the past behind us and move on to greater things. Many thanks for your kind words.
In the spirit of this, I think it would be an excellent idea if you were to come to Lavenrunz again to discuss the possibility of a treaty which you presented to Her Majesty.
In amity and admiration
Count Joachim von Mirbach
Chancellor of Lavenrunz
Baron Ehrfurt nearly burned the letter from Der Angst. Who was it for? Would it be presumptuous to present it to Mirbach, or would it be insulting to present it to Her Majesty? He consulted Count Chemnitz, but neither could make head nor tail of it. Finally, they consulted old Prince Ivarr, who had been Chancellor during part of Empress Joanna's reign. He pointed out that Mirbach could be discreetly advised to present the letter to the Empress...
Dear Mr. Morden:
It would be a very nice idea for a visit to take place to Der Angst. Many thanks for your letter: we hope that we will continue to enjoy good relations with your country. Perhaps your ambassador might present himself at the Chancery to discuss a possible itinerary.

How excellent to hear from you, and delightful to receive your congratulations.
It is my hope that you will not take Lavenrunz' desire for negotiations with the Reich as weakness, but rather for what it is: seeking the possibility to avoid a dreadful war.
The Church of God is scattered, confused in aims, and divided in extremes from fanatics to the vague modernists. Surely there must be some common ground. Surely we are laughed at for not living up to our ideals.
I urge you to stand with Lavenrunz in seeking peace with honour.
