To Free the Slaves of Istar

The Kingpriest sat on the silk cushions of his dampan silk sheet bed in the opulent bedroom of his Imperial Manor in the Temple of Paladine, the Elvish Kingpriest glanced at the latests reports from his faithful acolytes with glee, everything was falling into place. Within the first week of his Coronation to the Throne of Istar the new Kingpriest was now taking a course of action that was nothing short of a revolution, but one that reflected the attitudes of the people.

"The enslavement of the Minotaur is evil and must end!"

This was the cry of the people in the last decade of the rule of the last Kingpriest who instead of trying to end the practice of Minotaur enslavement did everything in his power to crush the change in the thoughts of the people on Minotaur Enslavement. Giusecchio even lifted the Imperial Bull of Kingpriest Velorn V on whipping and abuse of the minotaur slaves in public. But now Giusecchio is dead and Legeoius had different plans for the minotaur in his Istar.

Legeoius went through the facts one more time in his head.

1. The only faction that would oppose the Ban of Minotaur Enslavement would be the Conservative Faction.

2. The Conservative Faction was made up of older clerics and a few merchants left over from the reign of Velorn X over a century ago. Since all members of the Conservative Faction were old it is expected that they will be dead in a few more years, some were already on deaths door.

3. The current Hierarchs and Nobles (most of whom depended on the goodwill of the Kingpriest to retain power) were nervous due to the new ruler, they would do anything to allign with the Kingpriest to stabilize their powerbases.

4. The Public of Istar itself was now clamoring the Church to ban Minotaur Enslavement and grant them equal rights. This would in effect ban the last form of slavery in Istar, making Istar a non-slave nation for the first in it entire 7,000 year history.

Legeious then slapped himself on the head, he needed to finish the final draft of the Imperial Bull for the Etenal Ban of Minotaur Enslavement so he could make the announcement in three days, just as he planned to do.

The Kingpriest rose from his silken bed and walked towards his vallenwood platinum enlay desk and pulled out a fresh sheet of crystal paper and a sona pen and began to write.

Stefara, the High Hand of Mishakal sat on her private balcony that had a wonderful view of the Temple Complex in the light of the dawn that was fast approaching. Stefara glanced in the rose quartz glass of the glass doors that lead to her richly appointed private chambers, the reflection of an old woman in her eighties was shown, Stefara looked down at her hands with so many wrinkles they looked like paper, in any other setting she would look like a sweet old grandmother, but she was none of these things. Stefara brushed off some dew from her sky-blue satin robes and signed Mishakal's holy sign of the Twin Teardrops as the sun rose above the Temple of Paladine, the center of Church and Government in the Holy Star Empire.

A young acolyte on the other end of the golden doors of Stefara's private chambers knocked on the door. With her early morning viewing of the dawn done Stefara walked to the doors and said, "I am not feeling well enough to come to Imperial Court today, send Jullia to represent the Mishakal Clergy. That done with Stefara walked to her bed to rest, getting over the flu at her age was not easy, even with her healing powers she was forbidden by the teachings to use them on herself unless there was no other choice. She would just have to tough it out and trust that Jullia could handle another day or two in the Imperial Court.

"Besides, it isn't as if this new Kingpriest will do anything drastic anytime soon." Stefara thought before she fell asleep.

Julia meanwhile glanced around the enterance hall to the audience chamber at the other Hierarchs and various leeches of the Imperial Court and had the feeling that this would not be a good day. She noted the way the First Son refused to even look at the First Daughter, how the High Priest of Kiri-Jolith gave the High Priest of Branchala (whom she had usualy good relations with) the cold shoulder. As for herself... None of the Court other than the First Daughter would even address her by name.

"Blessed Children of the Gods." the Royal Chamberlain Abird began the litany, "His Holiness bids you welcome, Gomudo, laudo, e lupudo [Translation: Enter, behold, and adore]

The giant gilded oak doors opened to the magnificent Audience Chamber of the Kingpriest, Jullia had been apart of Stefara's entourage for over 3 years and didn't notice the blessed beauty too much, the giant gold and marble statues of long forgotton Kingpriests that stood around the oval chamber like stoneguardians, the strands of diamond that hung in the air that shinned in the morning light streaming from the rosequartz windows, or the delicate marble tiles that alternated a pattern of divine triangles and falcons, her attention was on the seven staired white marble dais and the golden throne and the elf who sat on it, the Kingpriest of Istar, the Holiest Man in the Universe.

"Greetings Children of the Gods," the Kingpriest said in his voice as sweet as honey, "Let the Court Begin."
