The Providence class of multipurpose ships are designed to take over the role of the Rockland Class of patrol destroyers. They incorperate the newest in LRR starship tech, such as impulse rudders and Hutchinson effect generators. They also carry standard LRR designs such as all-tracking ion cannons and long-range passive sensors. They are designed to replace the Rockland and Albany class ships in LRR service within the next (RL) week.

The Spruce Head class frigate. The spruce head is designed to replace all other LRR combat frigates. Its main purpose is to perform the task of heavy strike craft along with LRR fighter/bombers. It is armed with four destroyer-grade antimatter cannons, and is unmatched in speed, with a pair of antimatter reactors for propulsion. It also has new impulse rudders, which allow it near-unparallelled manouverability. Its crew of four are dispersed throughtout the craft. The pilot and co-pilot/navigator of the craft are seated in the upper central pod, which also contains a somewhat spartan crew compartment. The lower pod houses the hyperspace drive. The two gunners are housed in turetts on the two hulls of the ship. Each has control of the two cannons on their side, which are auto-tracking. There is little room for anything except their control turrets, because the hulls are packed with the drives and ship functions computers, as well as the shield generators.

The Explorer II class cruisers. The Explorer II class replaces the Abraham Lincoln class as LRR's cruisers. They are almost a kilometer long, making them nearly half the size of a Michael Strogoff battlecarrier. They reflect the need for a more multipurpose cruiser type, and contain top of the line engineering and science facilities, housed in pods on the upper middle of the ship. A variation on the tried and true Somtaaw design, the Explorer II has a far more powerful antimatter reactor, making it almost ten times as faster than the origional. The propulsion systems occupy most of the ship's interior space. The Explorer II retains much of the armerment of the Abraham Lincoln class, with 10 dual antimatter cannon turrets distributed throughout the hull to provide full coverage. It also has new hutchinson effect PD systems, and a very powerful shield. It has around 10 laser point defense nodes for anti-fighter protection. The hangar can hold up to 50 fighters and 25 corvettes. The ship is crewed by 60 at the least, but can accomodate up to 1,000 in emergencies.

The Camden class destroyer. The Camden class is a new take on the old Lancer class destroyers. It carries four turrets, each one containing two ion cannons. It mounts a standard destroyer shield, and carries 10 laser point defense nodes for anti-torpedo and anti-fighter protection. The Camden class has a crew of 30, and provision for up to 20 marines. The Camden is a basic design, and lends itself to reasoably fast and easy production. Like all LRR ships, it is reliable and sturdy.
