OOC: I need help with Space Fleet stats
Ok I want to create the stats for Istar's Space Fleet but I am not sure how to go about creating them so if there is anyone with experience with creating stats for a space fleet can help me I would really appreciate it.
OOC: Anyone going to be nice enough to help me?

Sol, outside sol?
Nation ground based or floating in space?
Tech conventional/ electromagnetic/ gravitic?
Stats differ for all of those, so it`s sort of hard to help without knowing where you are and what you have...
OOC: Istar is outside the Sol and the nation is based in the Krynn System. Istar is Near-Future borderlining Far Future. Tell me if you need anymore info.
Isn't there anyone out there willing to help me?

We'll also need the numbers and the stats of the ships in your fleet

Do ou not realize that is what I am asking help for?!
SO, you want us to tell you what ships you have, their stats, and how many of them you have?

No I am asking help on how to MAKE ONE! I want to know what it should have, and how much detail should I go into. Is everybody dumb?
So, you just want to know how to make the stats for one ship? Well, that's easy.
List its dimensions (length, width, and height), Weaponry (possibly saying position), small ship capacity, and other stuff (maybe special sensors or something).
Also, put in a small blurb about its purpose.

No, just most people.
Lets see here. Oct 03 nation with 1.3 billion people, Frightening population. Priorities are Defense, Education, and Law & Order. Not bad overall.
Consider: Most "top-players" (Titan/Yut nations and powerhouses like Menelmacar and Melkor_Unchained) have around 500 ships (or fewer) 1km in length (or smaller).
Consider: Most "top-players" completely ignore stats. If you don't know the physics, and you don't want to get burned, don't worry about exactly how fast your ships go or how powerful their weapons are.
No matter how strong you say your ships are, people will decide for themselves how strong THEY think your ships are. There are ways to influence their decisions.
Things that make your ships look stronger:
-RP, not just announce research but actually character RP the creation of each ship type. This is especially true if you interact with respected nations.
-Slowly develop your ships/fleet over time.
-If you have a website: find online pictures, make up ship stats for those pictures (be sure to publish stats with picture).
-Make fewer ships, and make sure people know you have fewer.
-Make smaller, more expensive ships, and let people know they are both smaller (perferably much less then a kilometer) and more expensive then what is common in NS.
-Uniqueness. If you can make your ships truely different then anything else in NS (very hard to do), you'll get more credit.
Things that make your ships look weaker:
-Lots of ships
-Huge ships
-Claiming super-stats for ships (like tactical-retreat/advance FTL or "500 gigaton super-laser")
-Building ships extremely quickly and/or cheaply
-Exporting/selling ships on the world market
-Suddenly gained (not-RPed) technology
There is something more important then how other people accept your ships, and that is how they reflect and affect your nation. Ask yourself the following questions.
What do I need these ships for? (ie. Is a super-dreadnaught necessary or even practical for protecting space shipping? What is the purpose of FTL-drive ships if you don't have extra-solar assets? How often do you really use dropships? etc. etc.)
What is my nations fighting style? (Swarms of small or large weak ships? A very few "special-forces" type ships? Heavy logistics? Beam, missile, troop, or fighter firepower?)
How can I increase RP value? (super-ships only limit RP because characters can get rid of any problem by shooting at it, running away from it, or similar. But you can make your "ubertech" limited in many ways to give your characters challenges).
And most importantly: What would my characters do? (What types of technologies are they attracted to and what types don't they care much about? How would they aquire those technologies? What types of ship design would appeal to them?)
Wazzu for one has fewer then 100 combat spacecraft (though that number is very slowly growing), none of which are over 315 meters long, and all of which are tremendously expensive. Further, while all are capible of large-ship/fleet combat, they are designed for anti-piracy...thats part of the RP.
What stats your fleet will have will depend on how you want to RP your nation, something you have to let us know about if you wan't more help. But I hope you will keep the following guidelines in mind.
-Character RP everything, preferably with respected players.
-Develop and build slowly.
-Persue (character) RP value rather then high-stat value.
-And never try to compete directly against the larger/older/more-respected nations. You'll be one in time (a long time from now), but every good player starts small.
Best of luck!
