IC: Unknown sources have released some top-secret Shyran files to the world for general viewing, they detail new plans for the treatment of Shyra's Shyrakat (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=113452&start=0) slaves, specifically they show basic descriptions of 3 Concentration Camps that the Government uses to try and break the will of unruly Shyrakats.

Dunkler Platz(Dark Place).: This particular Concentration Camp is located underground, in a large cave complex, those sent here will be kept in the deepest, darket of the caves, in total blackness, except for when they are taken to work, they will either work on digging new caves, or mining mineral ore.

Karminrotes Schloss(Crimson Castle). This second Concentration Camp is in a massive complex of semi-surface bunkers that are equipped with reinforced transparent roof panels that allow the glaring hot sun to shine through, turning the bunkers into the worst kind of living space, and a single, large building that is built to look somewhat like a castle, prisoners here are kept in the bunkers during the day, when the heat will affect them the most, and brought out to work during the night when it is much colder, for the most part they do general heavy labor.

Saal des Schmerzes(Hall of Pain).: This third Concentration Camp is a massive factory complex, used to manufacture ammunition, etc..., the Shyrakat prisoners here are kept inside all day, and forced to work in the extrmley hot assembly areas, needles to say, saftey precautions in the workplace are not a major concern.

IC: The Great White Holy Empire of Kecha deems these camps to be totally unacceptable, if they exist, we are demanding that the Shyran Government shut them down at once.

In the darkened operations centres of Anhierarchi intelligence, agents work tirelessly to provide verification of the claims of the existence of these concentration camps. In particular, they rely upon cutting-edge satellite imagery, as well as concerted monitoring and interception of Shyran electronic communications.

As soon as verification is found, a statement will be released, currently being prepared by the relevant parties - people didn't like hearing their government not taking a stand on such issues.

Official Statement of Condemnation

Based on information recieved and our own intelligence gathering efforts, the Socialist Commonwealth of Anhierarch formally and unequivocally condemns the nation of Shyra. The Commonwealth expresses its deepest abhorrence of practices used by the nation of Shyra, in particular the establishment of three concentration camps, the use of unethical labor practice and the usage of slavery.

The three concentration camps in question have, of course, been brought to the attention of the world at large, presumably by the hand of a Shyran who could stand no more of such barbarism. Now, through our own intelligence gathering, we have assembled a body of evidence that corroborates the information provided by this unknown Shyran.

[The screen switches to a series of satellite images using a variety of spectra, in particular infra red, to better demonstrate the heat. After showcasing the three sites, the view shifts to a time lapse 'video' assembled from satellite images. The video ends.]

Apart from satellite data, we also have a significant body of intelligence gathered through other means that provide undeniable proof of the existence of these camps.

As of this moment, the Socialist Commonwealth urges all nations to place the nation of Shyra under economic sanctions and embargoes, to call upon others to do the same and offer your strongest condemnation of their barbarous acts. However, as of the present moment, we counsel against war and will not support a war effort for the time being.

We adress the nation of Shyra with much concern, as numerous reports indicate, no matter the shyran efforts to deny it, the existance of concentration camps all over the country, where non-human sentient creatures are brutally opressed and held as slaves of the government.
As the interior minister of The Non-Human Union, an organization devoted to protect the rights of non-human sentient creatures, Hell Bovines is deeply concerned about the welfare of the shyracats.
We demand you that you shut down these concentration camps and release your slave population, with us willing to acept them as refugees.

The Emperor gets wind of the statements of Shyra, and also the intercepted comms from other nations to that effect.

"Damn. Sessra is there on an 'interview'. This reeks of turning sour. Commander Garrf, assessment?"

A comparitively diminutive Sakkran male, about 6'10", looks over the comm details. "Sometimes it is what is NOT stated that should be paid most attention to. SOmething reeks, but we can't send one of our Skeen to investigate. No, we need to use someone else. An understudy."

"What about Mark Ossining? He is a human, yes? A refugee, if I remember right. He's been studying intel techniques with the Skeen for years now. I think he'll be suitable in this case."

The Emperor puzzles about that one for a moment. 'Hmmmmm....alright, assign him a cover. Something stripped of all tech. I want none of our technology to be discovered on him. Instead, find out what the nation of Shyra uses, and work with that. But what cover to use?"

The two cup their chins in their hands, pacing about for a short time. "Wealthy diletante playboy, looking to 'invest'? It's worked before."

"Run with that. Set up a comm station of our mainland, somewhere in Ecuador, to relay a message to Shyra about investing in their nation's assets. Whatever those are."

For every nation that is bringing on economic sanctions on the nation of Shyra Belem will match trade levels in place of those nations to aid Shyra.

Furthermore there is no proof that these camps exist or that the camps are used for slave labor for all you know these so called camps could be used to house violent criminals.

Also for the record these catpeople are an inferior race compared to humans and the same laws do not apply to them.

A small Borg cube (1km on a side) appears in orbit over Shyra, takes some blatantly obvious scans and disepears again in a streak of psuedomotion. A few minutes later a message to Shyra arrives:

"Shyra be advised, we, the Holy Empire of Chloe's Borg Dragons, dislike slavery. It's strongly recomended that you cease such activities before we feel forced to dispatch a expeditionary force."

I am Marcus Ossining, son of Carlos Ossining of OsCorp Foods Intl. I've been looking at investing some pesos i've been storing in something worthwhile, and your nation has caught my interest. My father has been attempting to find a nation where he could build some canneries for our fine food products, and I was wondering if you might be interested.

It seems that with other nations, from what i've seen of news reports and the like, preparing to level sanctions, you may need 'other' sources of income for your people and government. Naturally, there would be 'incentives' for agreeing with my proposal, and I am more than ready to make a sizeable donation to your government as relief funds.

If you check my background, you will see that I have the funds at my disposal to support my offer. Please let me know what you think one way or the other. Should you agree, I would need to tour your lands, so I may see who my future 'employees' would be.

OOC: A background and history check would reveal someone from some seriously old money, with a lineage stretching back hundreds of years. When I say serious money, I mean bordering on being a trillionaire. Marcus is shown to have made investments that pay out huge for all concerned.

This, of course, is all planted information from the HAXXOR Squadron of the Sakkran Skeen Agency. Unless you have some real savvy hackers, revealing it to be planted info would be quite difficult.

It broadcasts the folowing message: "We are the Borg. Resistance is futile. We hoped to avoid this."

Repeated volleys of massive disruptor blasts shoot down from the cube unto Shyra with almost surgical precision striking at Shyra's mid-level goverment offices, obliterating them.

"We do not wish to destroy you, but we will do what we must."

The cube remains silently rotating in space waiting for a response.

IC: The mid-level Government offices were indeed obliterated, taking out the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of National Agriculture, and a few others, along with many people, including the respective Ministers, the Army HQ, and Special Police HQ are left unharmed, along with a few other buildings of importance, like the Presidential Building.

Broadcast: We are issuing a call for aid! we have done nothing to warrant such an act of aggresion! the Borg have fired on civilian areas and must be made to stop! we view this act as an Act of Unlimited Warfare.

General Gaarm looks over the results of the Borg ortillery strike.

"Any Sakkran casualties?"
"Yes, sir. Several agents on fact-finding missions were slain."
"So this is now an interstellar incident."

"Very well. Get Emperor Gorrm and Admiral Shaar on the holo-feed."

The holo-feed is Sakkra's instantaneous method of communication, used only in high-level emergencies.

Gorrm: "General Gaarm?"
Shaar: "General Gaarm?"
"We now have an interstellar incident. Sakkran government employees have been slain in the Borg ortillery strike. Recommend red-level measures be taken immediately."
G: "I have confirmation of your findings. Proceed then."
S: "All forces here are being mobilized. Forces located around Venus and the Great Asteroid Belt as well."
"Good. I am mobilizing all forces here, and preparing to commence with "The Hammer" I'm awaiting a response to our offer for them to retreat."
All three salute each other, left hand splayed over the chest. "The Hammer falls."
The holo-feed is then severed.

Meanwhile the collective was strugeling for concensous on what to do next, the old hardliners wanted to just glass Shyra, death was better than slavery after all. Some of the more peaceful drones just wanted to leave them, and indeed the entire rest of the world alone and focus on developing themselves. Inbetween there where the moderates who either wanted a diplomatic solution or conquest and new rules imposed by force. After a few minutes a compromised was reached in the form of a simple if then cascade. Diplomacy would be given one more try, if it didn't work they would work on a military solution.

"Shyra, we are the Borg. We will send an ambasaddor to the surface. Don't waste this chance for peace. Resistance is, always has been, and always will be; futile."

Puting action to words the cube promptly beamed down three tactical drones beamed down in front of the Presidential Building.

Two of the three where originaly human, or at least close enough that you couldn't tell otherwise from the extensive augmentations which made them in to 2m tall hulking abborations of indeterminate gender. Their black armor had all kinds of antenas and other sensors protuding in a way that they almost seemed like spikes, and both had most of one arm replaced by a massive gun of some sort. Their red targeting lasers swept the area as they oriented themselves to their suroundings.

The third drone was much shorter than the other two, barley toping one meter and her armor, for this was quite obviously a female at some point, was much sleeker and more streamlined than that of her companions, and her most obvious weapons where two sets of large gleaming metal claws on her forearms and feet. Her tail twiteched as her grey furred muzzle twiched as it took in the sents surounding her, and her one remaining catlike eye narrowed slightly as she used her optical implant to scan the suroundings not covered by her two companions.

A short burst of comunications later and the collective had a highly accurate picture of the suroundings and .012 microseconds later reached concensous on their next action. As one the three drones whirled and started heading towards the Presidential Building.

Without warning, without hesitation several warp rifts opened just outside the orbit above Shyra, the huge gleaming holes in the fabric of time and space ready to deliver their payload...

A complete Aelosian Fleet appeared through the holes, in perfect formation they formed a wedge ready to enter the planet's orbit. First came the huge yet gracile silouette of the Eldar Flagship, a VoidStalker Class Battleship, closely followed by the lesser yet impressive forms of the Shadow Class Cruisers and the Eclipse Class Carriers, ten in total. Two dozens of Aurora and Solaris Class Cruisers completed the tip of the wedge, their brilliant colors contrasting with the darkness of the outer space. Finally the escorts came, more than a hundred frigates and destroyers forming the core of the fleet. Hellebores, Aconytes, NightShades and Hemlock in perfect sucession.

In the Bridge of the Nimloth, the Flagship of the Aelosian Third Wrath Fleet...

"That's a country full of slavers. This time we're not going to try to rescue elves, but Catpeople. They're the slaves of the human mayority, as we once were. Some of you served under my banner in the Pyrtania Incident. Did you remember the camps?, the slaying of countless of inoffensive Pucks?, the transports full of slaves working in coal mines?. The officers gathered around him nodded, until a young woman, with the armor of the Howling Banshees Aspect Warriors raised her hand, saying. "What about the third parties involved?".

"The Sakkrans are good people, I'm sure they're here with the same mission as us. They have defended the rights of the racial minorities before, and I'm sure they'll do it again. We must contact the Sakkran High Command as soon as possible. But about that Borg Collective....fire whenever you found them, they launched an ortillery strike against civilian targets, and they're not even living beings. We'll start ground deployment in three hours, prepare your men. Usual tactics, the navy covers the invasion, the ground troops find the targets fast, and dispose of them", answered the Admiral, pointing at the insertion points along Shyran territory.

"Yes, Sire", said all the elves gathered in the room as one...

General Gaarm sends a reply comm, jaw locked in grim determination. His voice is one deep and reverbrating.

"Your ortillery strike has slain scores of operatives on fact-finding and recon missions in Shyra. You also have slain many thousands of civilians in a callous fashion. And that section of space IS within our jurisdiction, contrary to what your intel states."

"Not only this, but our past run-ins with Borg have shown that, once one group is assimilated, you continue in a swath of reckless destruction. And so we repeat; withdraw your forces. This offer will not be repeated a third time."

"We both seem to be suffering from bad intel." awnserd the cube aperently unperturbed. "We are not the inefficient parasitic borg colective that goes around assimilating all that it can. We have done our best to remove them, and we don't currently know of any survivors. We assimilate only those willing. Furthermore our orbital strike was a precision strike aimed at Shyran goverment buildings, and the Shyran goverment had been warned that we would take action if they didn't mend their ways. It seems your intel has been the victim of Shyran propaganda. Futhermore an ammbassador is currently on the planet surface, we must remain here to act as a relay. As such your offer is declined. Have a nice day."

As General Gaarm awaits a reply comm from the Borg battlecube, the ships profiles are uploaded into the Automated defense network. Right now it is powered down and dormant; operating under observation protocols. However, once activated they will immediately go into full hostile mode.

The first, second and fifth warfleets within the Sol system, meanwhile, are enroute to Sol 3. Scanners (if applicable) should show an excess of 200 ships.

The Jersey Colony is disgusted by the existance of these camps. Our intelligance forces are investigating the sources of this information. We hope they can find that these sources are false, otherwise we will have to lobby the United Nations to take action.

The comms officer of Orbital Command relays the message to General Gaarm, who reads it. After reading, the General snorts in disgust.

"So they're 'nice' borg, who only assimilate the willing. And is it Shyran propoganda that forces me to send letters of condolence to the Sakkran families of those slain? What a load of sand and vrelt! Delay tactics to build up reinforcements!"

"Do we send a reply?"

The General ponders this a moment. "No. We have stated our offer, and it has been refused. So be it. Get the 23rd and 25th armored cavalry ready. Filter all comm wavelengths out, except for our emergency comm. Our aides and allies know the frequency. Alert the Aelosians as to the situation, and apprise the Trium."

He walks to his command console, and eyes the large red button that is now blinking. He lifts up the protective glass with his clawed thumb, and hovers his other thumb over it for a moment. May the Ancestors forgive me for what I must do. He presses the blinking red button.

What is the button for? Is it a weapon of pure destructive force?Is it a tactical nuclear strike? You wish!

After the button is depressed, immediately all channels, wavelengths and frequencies are flooded with an A/V feed that overlaps and switches seemingly at random. The airwaves are flooded, in fact, over-riding all other transmissions in the area with......

As this is broadcast, the Defense Grid comes online. From all over Earth's various orbits, Def Sats come online and change their trajectories using maneuvering thrusters. 300 Def Sats total, of various design. Targetting reticles pick up the Borg ship. Brilliant Pebbles Smart Missiles, easily 25 meters long each, begin speeding towards the Borg ship with deadly intent. 500 missiles total.

All kinetic weapons and warheads have been outfitted with SPORE ammo.

To All: The Shyran Government, or what is left of it, admits the existence of the Concentration Camps.

Chloes Borg Dragons: The 3 Borg approaching the Presidential Building notice a group of men clothed in the uniforms of the Shyran Army clustering around the doorway, Special Police are coming at them from down the various streets, they are all heavily armed, they hear a cry of "Death to the civilian-slayers!" from several of the Army soldiers and Special Police, silence reigns for a few moments after that, but it is broken by AK47 fire directed at the Borg, coming at them from more than 40 weapons from all sides.

OOC: Not that while the Shyrans admitted the Camps exist, they said nothing of closing them down, not untill hostilities cease.

There was a colective wince, and a thought of 'oh no not again', closely followed by outrage. 'They thought they could mock us with a mere class 2 kawaii attack?', granted there where some painful memories where it had worked, but this was the 29'th time someone tried this tactic. 'Maria, do your thing.' thought the thousands of minds engaged in analizing the sensor data in the Sol system in unison without the need of a concensous facilitator. Maria, also know as The Cleric of Cute, and her followers did as they where asked. The result was something so horrific and terrible that it canot be described by mere words. Among the colective those minds whose curiosity got the better of their judgement sneaked a peek at the transmision recoiled stunned by the sheer cuteness of it.

In Shyra one of the hulking bodyguards collapsed swirly eyed, a typical reaction to cuteness overload, until another mind quickly took over, they had a reputation to uphold afterall. Seconds later an angry mob attacked them, using mostly ancient slug throwers rendering their shields almost useless, but the armor of the tactical drones had been desinged with this in mind and most of the bullets bounced off doing almost no damage. The short drone tried to explain that this was a last effort at a diplomatic mission.

Meanwhile the minds controling the one cube above Shyra followed the battleplan that had been constructed for an eventuality like this one, releasing some decoys with radio transmitters, and then following the preplotted microwarp to the rough center of one of the Sakkra fleets weapons fireing wildly for a moment before transporting more decoys into space, as well as some Doberman Version 5.2 combat drones. In a gamble to get away again another microwarpjump was attempted, but this one didn't go nearly as smoothly, the cube rammed several Sakkra ships, dragining them along with it to a patch of formerly empty space. Then the decoys activated their radio transmitters and tried to compete with the Barny transmission.

Damage reports and orders rang through the datanet of the borg battle cube;
*Primary warpcore in danger of overheating if used again
*Warp Engine 3 overheating
*Side 3 has suffered structural damage, sensor efficiency down to 34.35%, weapon efficency down to 68.49%, shield efficency down to 5%

+Focus regeneration efforts on side 3, commence spinning to bring a better weapon battery and shield facing the enemy.

General Gaarm reads off the data from the Borg battlecube. "The transmission is not effective. Cut it off."

"Acting, sir."

"Bogie has done a limited warp right into the middle of Battlefleet 4. Disonance fields are having effect against their weaponry, but direct hits have damaged some destroyers. 1-3 are caught; attached to the Cube at present. Bogie is deploying battlesuited units."

The 4th Battlefleet has 1 Boa-class Warcarrier, 2 Gator battle-carriers, 4 Wyvern warships, 12 Drakk cruisers, 20 Iguana destroyers, 48 Caiman corvettes and all their compliments of Anole II fighters and power-armor Horde Troopers.

Within his neuro-shunt pod, the fleet commander is taking damage reports. The comm officer sends in the General's orders.

Swap and Tag? Good. The orders are distributed via chem-axon communications to the other cap ships. "Corvette groups 3, 4 and 6. Perimeter the Cube and continuously peg it. Be liberal with the SPORE charges. 1, 2 and 5 will cover you from those smaller units. Destroyer group 1 and 2, flank and maneuver. Keep on them from every angle, and don't give them a stationary target. Cruisers, give cover to the Wyverns while they charge up their Neutron Cannons. All carriers, prepare to launch fighters and Horde Troopers.

Swarming around from every angle at range, the small and agile Corvettes lay out continuous streams of Hard Beams. SPORE batteries are fired during the firing cycles. Constantly performing evasive maneuvers, they seem to circle each other and switch positions even as they circle the cube. Other corvettes fire upon the small powersuit units (We don't know they're drones yet).

Meanwhile, the Destroyer groups move further outside the perimeter, and lay in fire of their own. Half the force fires their Hard Beam batteries and SPORE pods, while the other half fires its spinally-mounted Gauss Cannons.

The Wyverns finish charging their Neutron Cannons, and all of them fire as one on the Borg cube.

Damages:

3 crippled destroyers
2 damaged destroyers, 1 cruiser. Maneuvering out.

CBD: As they realized their AK47s weren't working very well, the Shyrans fell back down the assorted roadways, the Army soldiers in the doorway of the Presidential Building closed the door behind them as they when inside, several moments later 3 rifle-mounted RPGs fired from 3 different upper building windows.

OOC: By rifle-mounted I mean the sort that attaches to the end of the barrel and is fired by shooting a special bullet through the gun.

OOC: here is what SPORE does.

Spore technology. This is basically a bio-engineered acidic virus that attacks synthetic and metallic materials. Organic substances are unaffected unless they swallow the Spore. Then it results in nausea and diarrhea. Synthetic and metallic substances rapidly decay and eventually desintegrate. Great for removing landfills or enemy armor units.

It's capable of being fitted into almost any form of warhead, and has been widely dispersed throughout the Empire of Sakkra's Defense Forces.

The drones on the ground didn't notice the rockets in time for the two bulkier drones to dodge, one got hit square in the chest caving in the armor and blowing apart it's chest, only stoped by the armor in the back, that one colapsed to the ground spinal cord severed, The other one was more lucky the rocket hit him in the arm, shearing it off, unfortunaly that was the gun arm. The catlike drone however easily evaded the rocket barreling towards her and charged the Presidential Building in an evasive pattern, The bulky drone that was still standing headed towards his fallen companion, ripped off his gun arm, and then held it to where his arm had been. In a few seconds nanites reatached the arm into working order. The colective had reached a new concensous, they had tried to be reasonabe and peaceful (OOC:well they think so at least) but aperently these people listened only to force. Well then the borg would awnser them in kind. The newly attached particle beam spoke as he started giving the nearest hostiles a taste of what a tactical borg drone could do.


Meanwhile in space:
The borg cube still rotated though all its sides looked somewhat worse for wear, esspecially side 3 which had kilometer long canyons carved in it's side still glowing a dull angry red from the heat. However now instead of lashing out at targets of opertunity they focused their attention on the Wyvern-class ships doing their best to destroy them before they could fire another voley, now Photon Tropedos joined the fray in massive volleys instead of a few at a time like before. Weapon fire from side 3 was sporadic at best, seemingly mostly limited to interceptor fire.
The Doberman Combat Boomer drones also had switched tactics, now appearing in far larger numbers and seeingly focused on getting various drebis onto side 3 (which was almost visibly regenerating), rather than figting which they now mainly did in a cover fire sort of way, to keep from being easy pickings. With the exception of one swarm that was apperently trying to claw it's way into some of the smaller Sakkra ships.

(OOC: I hope I get the powerbalance somewhat correct, though I'm afraid I might be way off. This is the only completed battle cube of this size, though 5 more are in production. and if you consider at ~12km on a side this cube should weigh around 45'000'000'000'000 tonns.

And as for the Spore, they will most likely be dealth with by the Ships own supply on nanite, they'd likely slow down the regeneration, but probably not by much.)

CBD: Some of the Army troopers went down, including a young Lieutenant, leaving the guard contingent now at the door commanded by an older Sergeant, who immediatley called for heavy support, these Borg had killed civilians, he wasn't going to let them kill more, a Heavy Weapons Section was en route in minutes, while they waited for the HWS the Sergeant and his 10 remaining soldiers fired on the Borg with their AK47s and threw some grenades.

"Oh, Lord, not these again." General Liebermann, commanding officer of the battleship Scolomorph, looks over to the auburn-haired woman sitting in the seat to his right, her hands steepled as she watches the strategic indicator display from under the shiny black visor of her green officer's cap. "It always seems like, every so often, we have to deal with these cyborg things in one way or the other."

"But they're so... cute." Hayes grimaces. "Not only are they 'Borgs, they're 'Borgs dedicated to peace and happiness and light, with hope and aspirations... it's like someone took the normal machine collective Borg and ripped out everything that made them efficient."

"And... they're trying to achieve the same objective we might, ma'am." Liebermann frowns. "Honestly, we can't support some slaver regime, even if tacitly by assisting our Sakkran allies."

"Yes, but these Borg actions also leave something to be desired. Our form of gunboat authority is 'hand over the oppressed or we'll take them off your hands for you.' Their form is 'hand over the oppressed or we'll annihilate you.' Then they demonstrate their force against unarmed civilians and simply increase the will of the enemy to resist."

"So, how do we defuse the situation?"

"Given the Sakkran agreement with Shyra, the slavery will be phased out over a staggered plan of seventy-five years or so. That achieves the Borg objective, but slowly. If we get involved, I've been told by Gaarm that we can demand--via the Sakkrans--that the plan be accelerated. That increases our bargaining leverage with the Borg. Shyra survives, their objective is met; Sakkra gains Shyra as a protectorate, their objective is met. All we need to do is to convince the Borg that standing down and allowing us control of the situation will achieve their objectives."

Liebermann sighed. "Ya, but these Borg apparently don't have cold, hard, machine logic."

"We'll just have to appeal to their better natures." Hayes looks over her shoulder as she straps on her safety harness. "FleetCom, prepare the First Expeditionary to assist the Sakkrans. I want the squadrons to form up in a square around the target vessel, use transit gravydrives to maintain one-point-five kiloclick standoff range while using standard subgravs for evasive translational maneuvers. Broadside aspect towards enemy, center enemy; should ease our targeting. Scramble all fighter squadrons now; I want them ready to intercept upon formation. Event Condition Zero."

Across the two-kilometer battleship, lights turn red as general-quarters klaxons sound, crew preparing their battle-stations, powering up and loading all weapons.

"Weapons," General Liebermann adds, "load nanophage shells into our autocannon. FleetCom, with the Sky Marshal's permission, advise the fleet to do the same."

"Do it." Hayes nods curtly.

The fourty-eight ships of the First Expeditionary Force break off into its four twelve-ship squadrons, taking up points at maximum range from the Borg cube, shields up and weapons armed. As they approach, the lead Supreme Emperor-class battleship hails the cube.

This is Sky Marshal Hayes of the Triumvirate of Yut WarShip Scolomorph. If we are forced to enter this engagement, we suggest that you lower your shields and prepare to be annihilated. Your constituent chemical components will be gathered and adapted to serve us. Your life, as it has been, will be over.

Resistance is futile... but cooperation is not.

I have on good authority that Shyra has agreed to become a Sakkran protectorate. Part of this deal states that the cat-metahuman slaves be paid and allowed to purchase their freedom before a complete ban on slavery in seventy-five years. Sakkra is a member of the Triumvirate of Yut--the international federation of which I am an authorized spokesperson--and I can assure you that we will use our leverage to accelerate this process as much as feasible.

Although it may not come as quickly as you may have liked, we will ensure that the slaves are freed as soon as possible. Such oppression is against the Charter of the Triumvirate and our ideals. Rest assured in the fact that you have achieved, in an odd way, your political objectives.

Continued violence is unnecessary. I will inform General Gaarm of Sakkra to cease conflict if you agree to stop fighting and leave immediately. If you decide to prolong this conflict, however, be warned. We will use kinetics that your kind have never been able to adapt to, moving at velocities most difficult to counter. We will deploy nanophage, developed by our ally Zero-One in response to an infiltration of nanites, that will severely hamper--if not completely nullify--your regeneration capability. We will fight dirty and we will ensure the ultimate destruction of you and your vessel, for you yourselves have violated our ideals by firing upon civilians simply to make a point. Military installations... fine, we could have dealt with that. But unarmed noncombatants... no. That is unacceptable behavior and will not be tolerated.

We are yet willing to forgive you your mistake if you show us now that you mean it when you say you do not wish violence. We also do not like violence, but we are more than capable of using it effectively if we have to.

I reiterate my offer. Cease fighting immediately and return to where you came from, and live knowing that the slaves of Shyra will be freed. Continue this needless conflict, and we will ensure it ends as quickly as possible.

I have complete confidence in your ability to choose what would be most beneficial for all parties involved.

OOC: More info on the units and weapons? It would give me a better idea of what's going on. Also, waiting until I hear a reply to Scolo's offer. In the meantime, kinetic weaponry units are replacing SPORE with AP Gelignite rounds.

The Borg cube, still spinning madly, stops using it's heavy weapons, it sends this message to Hayes:
"Unable to comply. We would like to regenerate our engines before risking a transwarp jump, and diplomatic drones are still in Shyra, we will not leave until we retrevie them."

OOC: My own computer is dead (which is why I'm RP'ing more in nationstates) so I can't get to my unit info (which is outdated anyway). If I have time I will try to write up the basic info again.

Well then... a compromise. We get Sakkra to cease fire to allow you to pull out your drones and fix up your engines; then you can leave unharassed and everyone goes home happy.

OOC: With Scolopendra around, I don't think Aelosian forces will be needed in this campaign.

"It looks like the situation is stable, Sire. Scolopendra and Sakkran forces forced the Borg to withdraw and the slaver goverment is going to be deposed", said the attendant in the Flagship's bridge.

"Then let's return home, we have a party waiting for us, let them handle it, they know how to do it even better than us", answered the Admiral smiling. "Call back the dropships, stop the invasion, ground troops are not needed anymore".

OOC: Just a question, whatever happened to the intended tech-level? =) I guess the Borg invasion ended that fairly effectively... gahahaha.

The borg cube slows its spinning, takes it's primary shields offline, and otherwise seems to power down, even though sensors actually register a power spike. The gaping wounds in the cube flow together at a amazing pace, a minute after the fighting stopped there wasn't even a sing that the cube had ever been in a battle. A short hop a warp speed brings the cube back over Shyra and it promptly beams all three borg drones back on board, making sure not to leave any parts behind. And then in a flicker of pseudo motion it's gone again.

General Gaarm receives the comm from Sky Marshal Hayes. He gets on the horn to all the battlefleets enroute, and the fleet currently engaged. "All ships, withdraw to .5 beyond maximum weapons range. But keep weapons and shielding hot until these Borg exit the system. With speed, people!"

The encircling corvettes and destroyers cease maneuvers and firing, and extend their petal-sails again, forming up around the capitol ships.

The Cube fulfills its stated actions, picking up its crew-beings on the surface, fixing its engines and departing. At the sight of the retreating ship, General Gaarm sends a comm to Sky Marshal Hayes.

"Thank you for your intervention, Sky Marshal Hayes. It is a primordial urge that makes us desire to see these Borg destroyed to the last. We will not brook their unwelcome presence in systems where they have no business. And to have them fire on our home planet; it was beyond the threshold of tolerance for us. May you walk on warm sands."

The fleet commander comms the other ships. "All units, damage report and status."

"Corvettes 1, 2 and 4 limping to the Orbital Shipyard for repairs. Terrapin tow-ships have been dispatched to bring them in. Hull integrity 65% and climbing. Engines damaged; 30% effective. Weapons banks 45% damaged. All other ships operating within acceptable parameters. No casualties."

The fleet commander breathes a sigh of relief. "Good. That's good."

OOC: Just so folks know, I was willing to RP with Shyra at their tech level. Espionage, subterfuge and intrigue would have been present. It promised to be an interesting go. However, when a nation comes and performs an ortillery strike on my fun, then all bets are off. Just for future reference.

IC: The former Government has been removed, all members of our Congress have resigned, as has the President, the Vice President, and the Joint Chiefs, as well as the Cabinet, so far the only member not to resign is the Chief of the Special Police, we don't know what he'll do, but a Provisional Government is being formed.

OOC: I try to compromize between acting how the borg would act and being balanced, with much more weight towards the balanced side. In case of defiance of the collective will like Shyra did the normal reaction would be to glass the entire country. Better death than slavery afterall, and those that died and weren't slavers should be happy they died for such a good cause, while those that aren't happy about it are criminals that deserve much worse but the collective was being merciful for the sake of efficency. And I missed the tech level note the first time around. :oops: Sorry.

Glad to have been of service, General. However, now that we're involved, we're going to have to hold up our end of the bargain to the Borg. Whenever possible, I'd like to assign a Trium liason to any Sakkran diplomatic teams and accelerate the process of freeing the slaves.

We understand the fact that the Borg, being aggressively collectivist, are anathema to our cultures. We agree that their actions in this situation were improper. Yet we must also admit that they were driven by essentially the same set of ideals that we are driven by, which is why I offered them a chance to save face and take an honorable out. Oddly enough, maybe we will have improved relations enough with our logic in this crisis that in the future we will not have to resort to carrot-stick diplomacy, at least not of that magnitude.
