New Delaware Island desires Naval Defense Contractor

17-01-2004, 06:40
Official Decree, January 16th

We, the colonists of New Delaware Island (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=new_delaware_island), do declare ourselves free of all oppressive foreign influences. Our vast resources and robust economy, formerly disputed by certain other powers, are hereby closed to any and all foreign investment not approved by the NDI Governor. If necessary, we fill fight such powers again and we will win our independence again. We shall live free or die in the island colony of the greatest state in the union.

Governor James Ferdinand DuPont VI
The Colony of New Delaware Island

Official Decree, January 17th

The colonists of New Delaware Island submit to friendly foreign powers a bid for new (not used) military hardware. Given our geographical factors, NDI is especially desirous to acquire naval vessels, fighter/bomber aircraft, and land-based air defense systems. We will consider all fair supply contract bids.

You said you need land-based air defense systems, I'd suggest mobile SAM/AA vehicles.

Yes. That sounds good. Perhaps the new Patriot-PAC-3 missile defense shield system, which was recently shown to be very effective in Iraq? Have you any to offer, or might you know where I can acquire some?

I can build some things for you.

What do you have to offer?
What are the unit costs?
How long before shipment?

What do you want? chances are I can build it.
Depends on the unit.
A matter of days after they are built.

We are interested in purchasing naval and aerial defense systems, as described above. We are unsure of the current market, and are thus entertaining bids at this time. (Read: We don't know what we want. Give us some options to consider.)

Can we interest you in some tactical nuclear devices?

Can we interest you in some tactical nuclear devices?
Such as?

OOC: I've seen lots of people putting lists of merchandise up with detailed stats and prices and sometimes pictures. We are a "Powerhouse" economy but cannot afford such huge items as aircraft carriers; maybe cruisers and destroyers and frigates? Tactical nukes seem good, but expensive. I don't really know, but if I see something I like, I am happy to do business with you.

OOC: Damnit. I had this really detailed response but it was erased by the stupid forum.

New Delaware Island Defense Secretary Edward Jackson advises the purchase of:

http://www.chinfo.navy.mil/navpalib/factfile/ffiletop.html
6 Arleigh Burke Class destroyers
2 Wasp Class amphibious assault ships
2 Avenger Class mine countermeasures ships
2 Virginia Class attack submarines
40 SH-60 Seahawk utility/assault helicopters
20 AH-1W Super Cobra attack/recon helicopters
20 F/A-18F Super Hornet tactical fighter aircraft

Ammunition and missiles for all vessels/aircraft

Personal equipment for expected naval personnel numbering 6,000 (2,000 reserve), marines numbering 4,000 (1,000 land-based), and land-based support personnel/civilians numbering 3,000. Total: 16,000

Construction of two naval bases (north island and south island) which each accommodate approximately half of the forces. Naval bases shall include infrastructure to serve as ports, air stations, and command headquarters

We shall entertain bids for contracts throughout the week. The lowest bid that meets the quality and expediency standards will receive the contract. Bonus payments of up to 25% will be given for the latest technologies and/or rush delivery.
17-01-2004, 19:26
We would like half of the 12 naval vessels and 80 aircraft within the week, if possible. We would like the first naval base built within the month, the other built within three months.

However, as stated, we will pay HIGH premiums for prompt and quality delivery.

First, We would offer to build the naval bases. At the moment several alconian construction companies would be willing to design and construct your naval bases. Although an operational base could be constructed within a month, a fully functioning base cabable of servicing and repairing your navy as stated would take approximatly three with extra costs due to speed of the project.

As for naval vessels for sale our contractors have large orders in from our own government and are licenced to build some warship designs but not for resale.

We could offer to help equip your marine forces. Specifically in the area of shipduty.

If intrested please send info on naval base locations and desired attributes.

-Lord Pinkerton, Trade Envoy
17-01-2004, 19:44
How much will you require us to pay for delivery of both bases as operational in one month, fully capable in three?

OOC: How long are NS months in real time?
17-01-2004, 20:08
If intrested please send info on naval base locations and desired attributes.

-Lord Pinkerton, Trade EnvoyEach base shall have port facilities for 4 surface ships. An air station at each base shall have runways, hangers, and other facilities for 12 fixed-wing aircraft (2 of which shall be large, 747-sized) and up to 40 helicopters. Barracks/warehouses at the naval bases can be built later, but each base shall have command headquarters bunkers and weapons/fuel storage bunkers right away. Lastly, each base shall have appropriate missile/gun defense systems against air attack, and appropriate walls and guard posts for perimeter security.

The north base is located at New Delaware Island's northern peninsula (town of New Greenville) at a deepwater cove surrounded by ridgelines. The south base is located at New Delaware Island's southern tip (town of New Henlopen) along forest-lined beaches. The bases are approximately 400 miles apart.

We accept. We have a "Powerhouse" economy of 6 million people, so $10 billion is no problem. It is about 10% of our colony budget, but most of this is fixed costs; to maintain the military equipment and personnel will be no more than $2 billion per year, including upgrades.

We will wire transfer the money as soon as progress is made on construction and delivery.
