**NEWS** Centuri Station damaged during Jump Drive research
Jacob warner sat at his desk infront of a computer in an office branching off from the main research lab on the station. He lifted his glasses and began rubbing his eyes letting a loud yawn escape before continuing his work at his computer, he tapped away at the keys. He had a hunch, The chief of operations told him it was too early to start testing the base model engine, it had been a month into the analyzsis's.
Something deep down wouldn't let him just let it go he felt the urge to go above his commanders and show them they we're all wrong he knew one passive scan of the engine powering up could cut off nearly a years research and allow the jump Drive engine to be upgraded onto the fleets ships.

Jacob looked up at the screen wide eyed, he skin going dead white, he looked around the office then out the viewer window as the Jump Drive engine began to glow a pale blue humming louder and louder with each passing moment, he stood up quickly, he stared at the window as he stare teh pale face of death staring back at him from the window, which was quickly replaced with his own reflection.

he stood up slowly as he read the last line on the moniter, his hand reaching for a picture of him and a women, his girlfriend smiling happily . he mouth the words "I'm sorry" as the room was filled with the billiant light emmitting from the engine. 3 seconds later the science lab and 6 decks surrounding it were completely obliterated.
the damage was severe a large glaring hole as debree from the station floated gently out into the void, 1016 lives vanished in the blink of an eye, some were drawn into the jump gate along with the engine, while others were sucked out into the void during the corresponding explosion.
Jacob warner was one of the many soles that we're suspected to be sent into the jump gate.

The Station shook violently as a blue swirl slowly developed several hundred kilometers off the port side of the station direction where the Lab was, a second later the Station seemed to bend as the will of the blue swirl blued at the stations wall and at the engine hidden behind it, then the shaking stopped and a errie quiet consumed the station. Steven Resslin the leader of The centuri Station the only home of the Nation was sleeping at the time, but had awoken during the ordeal jsut in time to see the Jump gate open slowly then to be knocked to tehf loor when the engine was pulled through the the walls and armor into the the void and through the Jump Gate.

7 hours later Steven prepared himself for his public announcement to the rest of the populace and the universe should they care. he took a large sip of the glass of water on the desk infront of him as the camera went live. he straightened his back his face expressionless as he spoke.
"7 hours ago, a... accident occured here on this Station the Jump Gate engine we had taken from one of our salvaged ships unexpectedly formed and entered a jump gate that had formed several hundred kilometers off the port side, several hundred are reported missing in the surround decks on the science lab"
The camera pans to the view of the damage on the port side debree was everwhere as several decks were completely destroy, managled steel gutted outwards in all directions.
"we do not know who is responsible for this or wheather or not anyone is to even blame, but we will not let this disaster slow us down in our progress.. A call goes out to the international community for help, thank you"
he stood up slowly and walked out of the room as the camera turned off, his face almost instantly going pale once he left the presence of the cameras.
OOC: sorry I was strapped for time when I posted it, it was only about half finished, anyways it was at Centuri Station, the capital of the nation, in teh Alpha Centauri System, well I'm sure something like this would leave a large visual affect seeing as gate opened nearly in the armored walls of a space station (just barely outside) I'm not sure if you see it or not truthfully, like I said I was strapped for time when I posted it because I had family come over unexpectedly.

Okay. Well, I'm Sol System only, save for a rogue task force wandering the galaxy, so I was just trying to clear it up for others that could RP it,

Steven sat at his desk looking out the window over the Shipyardwhen the USS tongesten was currently indeffinately docked while the finished installing the 6 Bussard Ramscoops that will temporially ogment the lack of Engines onboard.
"just perfect that will cut back the research till we can get our hands on a new one" he leaned over pressing the comm button speaking loudly "Paul get the Neronattio Maru to go search the debree flieds around the battle of 88C (see intro there for the battle) for anything salvagable namely engines"
"on it sir" a bright and cheerfully voice replied quickly quickly followed by a low droning static as Paul ended the conversation
he leaned back in his chair yawning quietly to himself as he turned on the moniter imbedded into the desk reading daily reports and such other reports about anythign and everything
Mean while the Neronattio Maru came to an abrupt stop as it entered the debris field know as 88C where 60 years ago the legendary Nuritoshi Maru took on 3 Commonwealth battleships destroying two of them after and entire independance fleet and Commonwealth fleet battled. This is also where Steven Resslin salvaged the USS Tongesten one of the ships disabled by the Nuritoshi Maru.
A woman no taller than 6 ft stepped onto the bridge her long brown hair tied up in a pony tail as she walked over and sat down in the captain chair
"Mark start scanning lets not stay here any longer than we have to, some say there are still active mines just floating around here..."
"yes Captain, switching from passive to progressive scans" the view screen slowly gave of a red hue as it began giving a X-ray like view of interior the mangled ships and debris, softly accompanied by regular intervals of pinging sounds emmitting from the outter hull of the ship.
the ship continued to sllowly traverse the debris field scanning everything that crossed it's path.
"found something Kate"
"what is it? and it's Captain to you.." she replied standing up slowly as she walked over to the pilots/sensors console where Mark was sitting at.
"it looks like several Nova cross class fighters...no engine yet, we'll have to come back later" he looked up from the viewscreen to Kate smiling quickly before pushing the ship onward further into the debris field.
five hours the Neronattio Maru wandered through the debris field finding several things they could salvage but they would have to wait for some other time.
Kate was starting to grow tired of wandering around looking for an engine ...that worked.. sure there were plenty out there in a few hundred pieces but they were out there she knew that .
"this is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack, Mark ..."
" a what?" mark turned the chair around looking at Kate raising a brow in confusion
"it's an old earth saying dunno what a hay stack is though...probably something hard to find a needle in though..." she sat back down in her chair leaned back sighing heavily wiping the sweat off her forehea.
"why would they ust use a magnet? I'm sure that had them that far back"
"not a bad idea Mark, now what would a jump drives engine's magnet be?"
"not a clue"
"figures as much...we might as well get some rest we've been out here for nearly 6 hours..." Kate slouched over running her finger of the grate like steel floor absent mindedly before standing up and walking out of the bridge.
"night mon Capiton..." he yelled leaning back, he'd stay up a little longer before calling it a night...or a day we lost track of time a few hours ago.
Mark quickly send a text only message back to Centuri Station giving Steven a update on there finding or lack there of.

Steven woke up lifting his head up slowly from it's rest spot on his desk looking at the moniter in his desk, a small blinking red lighting was displayed in the corner. He sat up straight before clicking on it as he recieved the message

"we thank you for your concern friend, although at last notice this station and all it's inhabitants we're of our accord, again we thank you for the message and bid you good day

"last I heard no boss" the cheerful and bright voice replied
"maybe I shouldn't sleep in my office anymore"

Kate woke up quickly to the sound of Mark's voice over the Intercomm as he groanned groggily "what mark I was having a nice dream..."
"well I'm sure it was about me but anyways I think I found something you'd like to see...no I guarantee you'd like to see it"
"alright I'm coming...better be good" kate sat up grabbing her jack as she walked out of her quarters towards the bridge.
she stepped into the bridge and immediately stopped dead in her tracks her face displaying manying emotions the most notable was surpise.
There lay in the clearing in the debris field was the Nuritoshi maru still imbedded in the hull of the USS neverwinter over looking her hull. even through she was just the hulk of the once glorious ship she was still a sight beyond those of words.
"my god... in all these years it's been floating here it's still beautiful" she said quietly to herself her eyes never taking from the viewscreen, she sat down at the captains chair.
"amazing sight she is captain..." Mark said as he read the various consoles as it scanned the two intertwined ships "beautiful as she is captain nothing there we can salvage ..."
"leave a bouy set it to replay this message every five minutes on text and audio wavelenghts..."she stood up tugging on her jacket " This is kate Mc Aurthor ... Captain of the Neronattio Maru this is the grave of the Nuritoshi Maru... one of the greatest ships of the Independace war. The area surround the Nuritoshi maru and the USS Neverwinter is now declared a War memorial"
she gestured for the recording to stop with her hands at mark who promptly stopped the recording and launched the bouy. a tear rolled down Kates silky cheek as she watch the bouy glide gently towards the two ships.
"we..should continue Kate we have work to do.." Mark solemnly said as began to turn the ship around slowly taking her out of the clearing and back into the debris field the Bouy playing teh recording as it was programmed to.
