Wombat News: CACE proposes "fair but rigged" trade

CACE has unveiled a wide-ranging plan to make global trade fairer, and more rigged. (http://invisionfree.com/forums/CACE/index.php?c=5)

In a blueprint submitted to its member-states, CACE calls for a trading regime that privileges service-based economies with rich, educated populations at the expense of developing countries.

Free, but fair, but rigged calls for labour and environmental standards to be built into trade agreements. Poor countries that lack the skill levels to attract high-wage jobs, are dependent on polluting primary and secondary industries, and lack the funds and expertise to develop comprehensive infrastructure, will be disadvantaged.

"Yes, it's harsh," conceded CACE member Celdonia. "Harsh, but fair."

Of course this seems more like a dictorial trade alliance than anything. I mean demanding a 25% ownership of a company by the workers. Hmph, if they want to buy into the company they work for fine. But to set a side a share of stocks that will only wind up manipulated by the lawyers for Labor Unions is a ridiculus concept. The only one who is going to benifit is the labor union bosses who will manipulate the workers for their own purposes.

Though there has never been a formal relationship between the Socialist Republic of Xanthal and the CACE, we have a deep respect for their economic values, many of which we share.

I'd like to point out that although IFTA signatory status is compulsory for CACE membership, it is not true that any IFTA signatory need be a member of CACE.

The IFTA was set up during the successful Third World Solidarity Summit involving nations from many different regions alliances, and economic systems.

We have come to expect more from the WN (well - more laughs anyway;-)
