OOC: This is more of a story than a Role-Play, simply encanting
the rise of the Free Collective from the shambles of the
oppressive Dictatoriship before it, to try to get a richer history of
the Nation....
IC:
New Flash: The Charagn military Police surrounded a small
village in the northern-most mountains within its borders at 3:00am
this morning. The village of Vaisah has been the stage-front of much
contreversy in the past few months, as the H.Q. of an alledged
rebellion, the leader: Thomas LeVay, whom the Military Police were
sent to capture.
Taking the village in a lightning raid without firing a shot, the
spokesman for the Charagn Inner-Defence Force boasted in a new
conference:
"Not a single troop within the military Police was killed,
and not a single shot was fired from the traitorous enemy..
And best of all, we've captured the greatest Traitor of them all!
He was executed on the spot, after..... Trying to escape."
All other in the supposed Rebel force are being processed,
and sent to the various Prison Camps, though the exact one
was never disclosed.
End News Flash.
Twelve years after that incedent, after life had carried on,
as the Government controlled news agencies remained hush, hush
of the attrocity.. Though that was soon to change.
In the forests that carpeted the mountains surrounding the village,
a group of loggers stumbled upon the truth; the remains of an
estimated One-Hundred and Seventy-Five Charagn citizens were dug up.
All of them were from the village, and only fifty of which were
confirmed to have been in the Rebel army, the rest, sadly, were their
families.
No explaination from the Government was given, a desperate attempt
at buttoning down the incident failed..
Dissent rose from the already uncontent public, after learning of
the truth, the Counter-Culture within the underground of Society
whispered of revolution and revolt.. And several did make it
past romors, but all had failed, meanign the massacre of several
hundred more, though the exact numbers are unknown.
In the next few years, a greater revolt was planned, after the
charismatic Director of the Armed Forces, Charles A. Menning,
whom had covert ties to the various underground movements, garnered
the support of many of his men.
It took many more months for action to take place, but it was
planned, finally, for the night of a yearly banquet; where all the
powerful Directors and governmental puppets swarmed to give praise
to the brutal Dictator which ruled the nation for his sixtieth year.
Pulling power-strings, and nearly bullying the Director or
Inner-Defence into manning nearly the entire security staff
for the gathering with his own men, he ensured that this coup would
succeed, unlike the ones preceeding it.
Storming the capitol building, where the annual Banquet took place,
the Gaurds not in the coup were either captured, or killed,
to a minimal loss of Seven of the Rebelious..
Though the tyrannical Dictator, in pinnance to his criems against
his own peoples, was tortured in front of the Capitol building,
having his fingers cut off with cable-cutters, his knees
shattered with the butts of weapons, and beaten nearly beyond
recignition.. before he was literally drug to the City Square and
hung to the supporting chants of civilians.
Nearly all those who were installed as puppets in the government
were exiled, News communitcations of all types. Once held by the
Government were seized by the Rebels, which were in turn were used
to spread news of the coup, and the truth of the plight..
And the coup snowballed from there.
Police forces, Civilians, and many Soldiers in the Charagn
Military rose to fight along-side those who originalyl began the
uprising. Bringing its numbers from a few hundred, to several
hundred-thousand.
Those who were loyal to the old Dictatorship were violently beaten,
and often murdered, bringing on many attrocities from the Rebel
side, though that was unintended.
All said and done, the estimated casualty listing read:
Military Personnal Lost: 10,400 of the 17,000 which remained loyal.
Civilians: 50,000 all-together, 8,000 suspected murders in the
resulting short-lived Civil War.
Rebel Forces: 80,700, great losses due to lack of equipment
allocation by the Rebels, and the fact that most of those who they
fought against were of the Elite Corps. of the Military.
---
The new Government was quickly installed, forming the Free Collective Republic. The Population, weary
of Dictatorship, and suspicious of any government. Though in the
first election of the new government, a nearly unanimous poll
gave Charles Menning, former Director of the Charagn Armed Forces,
and engineer of the coup, Presidential power.
It is now four years after that coup, the infrastructure has been
re-built, the economy is back on track.. Thanks to Industrialization.
The latest Census shows that the once struggling population is
beginning to steadily grow..

Nation Facts:
Name: The Republic of Free Collective
UN Category: Inoffensive Centrist Democracy
Civil Rights: Very Good
Economy: Very Strong
Political Freedoms: Very Good
Last Census: 6,000,000 Citizens
The Republic of The free Collective is a tiny, economically powerful nation, notable for its
complete lack of prisons. Its hard-working, intelligent population of 6 million have some civil
rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a
point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
The medium-sized government devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas
such as Law & Order and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. Citizens pay
a flat income tax of 13%. A healthy private sector is led by the Trout Farming, Woodchip
Exports, and Arms Manufacturing industries.
Voting is compulsory. Crime is relatively low. The free Collective's national animal is the
mallard duck, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and
its currency is the dollar.
In Closing: The Republic of the Free Collective is a nation of
5,639 Square Miles, the lands range from Cold and Mountainous in
the north, flat and relatively dry in the central plains,
Muggy, rainy and Swampy in the far south. The Western part of the
nation is the only portion with acess to the sea, its coast is dotted
with lights of cities, as well as great refineries.
OOC once again: I'm sorry for the lack of detail, it's certainly
not as great as the more experianced in NS could create, but I'm
new to this type of Role-Play.. Any suggestions or advice would be
greatly appreciated.
The nation is also looking for Alliegiances with others, as well as
a Region which doesn't mind smaller nations.
PS: Please don't invade! :)
EDIT: Sorry folks if it seemed like I godmoded the population, I accidentally crossed the populous of my other nation with this one.. my bad.
