I am posting this thread to see if there would be any interest in doing an reinactment of the battle of Helm's Deep, either the movie version or the book version, depending on popular demand, it would probably run for a few days and i think it would be a lot of fun, if you're interested then please respond to this thread

I'll do helms deep defenders/ rohirrim. Also, book, not movie. However if the movie is done, i want the elven archers. (they werent Rivendell elves, fool. They were Galadriel's rangers.)

Excuse me, kindly do not be insulting. And while he did have a message from Elrond the elves were still rangers from loth lorien. I own the extended version, have seen it many times, and have also read nearly every book written on the subject. I know what im talking about. So yea, i'll do rohirrim in the deep, and then, if nessecary, the riders.

Well due to my knowledge they are galadriel's elves and not from rivendell due to the fact that rivendell is being evcuated at the time and haldir is leading them.
just because he has a message from elrond doesnt really mean then are from rivendell

right, had computer troubles yesterday, couldn't post, we just need someone for a brief thing as te horsed Rohirrim, and if every one would post what they want as weapons and armour, you should already know the numbers

1 Light armour uniform (boots, gloves, helmet, breastplate, etc)

1 Quiver (50 arrows)
1 Long handled Elvish sword, curved

Ok.. so to mix up everyones mind were going for a battle of 2000 Helms deep defenders, 1000 of them with Theoden from Edoras, cavalry, (not using their horses)and 1000 infantry Garrisoning Helms Deep lead by Gambling the Old. (And if we do
the movie maybe 500 elven warriors or so?)

On the opposite side of the wall's is waiting about. 10 000 Saruman's orcs, half-orcs, uruk-hai and Dunlanders.

Later on will come the Rohirrimin Reinforcements with 1000 infantry lead by Gandalf and Erkenbrand. (or with the movie bigger number of cavalry lead by Eomer)

Its Gamling... There were 200 elves that went to help, not 500...

Also, Uruk-hai are half-orcs...

no more arguing, we are going to use the movie version so that more people can RP, this means 200 elves, 300 Rohirrim, 10,000 Uruk-Hai, and 2,000 Horsed Rohirrim, crap guys

Because more people have seen the movie then have read the books. The war in the book were better though. :D

- uruk sword (about the size of a hand and a half sword, I think)

Berserker Uruk-hai
- 2 handed uruk sword

Uruk-hai archers

- heavy crossbow

Also:
- seige ladders
- big seige ladders
- battering ram
- explosives

If someone else wants to be in charge of the Uruks attacking the door with the battering ram, or the explosives that breach the wall, that's fine. Just let me know.

The Eldarin host had been marching for days it seemed, though elves can travel much easier than men, having to go around Isengard made it much longer, Haldir paused for a moment to look back over his troops, the coloumn was by no means long, but it was all the elves could send, too many had left these shores for the western lands, and now the elves were a weakened people, but most still had hope,after much time Haldir spotted torches in the distance, and motioned for his herald to sound his horn, the sound tore across the landscape to reach the ears of the Rohirrim, the elves approached the gates of the hornburg...

i suppose that i'd better wait a while huh?

The rohirrim Militia had been forming up in hornburg all day, and now they were finally ready. Some 500 militia were standing on the Deeping Wall. The looks on militias faces really didn't seem too promising for Rohans future. If you looked trough the militias lines you could clearly see that there were some real soldiers too. Spreaded trough the militia's lines there were standing a total number of 200 RohirrimRiders. They stood up without fear, and in the faces of Militia that were near to these soldiers, you could see a little hope blooming.

Suddenly they could hear a voice of horns right in fron't of Hornburg. All forces grabbed theyr'e weapons quicly, but lowered them slowly as they noticed that the incomer's weren't enemys. They watched as grey ranks of unknown troops were marching in to Hornburg. Soon news were spreading troughout the ranks from Walls edge that was connected to Hornburg.
"Elves, Elves have come to aid us my Lord. Who would have believed that one day ago?" Shouted Gramwine the Young, the leader of the Rider's in that sector, to his commander, Erkenbrand of the West Fold.


OOC: i tought it would be ok if i rp Erkenbrand since this is non book version. And sry for possible typos or other mistakes( my english is not the best possible...)

IC: Haldir led his elves up the cause way to the Rohirrim fortress of Helm's deep, passing by stunned and amazed men, they came to a stop at the foot of the steps to the hornburg, were Haldir introduced himself to the King...

That's fine. I call the Uruk commander that stands on the rock though! That guy's badass. 8)

Saruman's terrible army had gathered outside his tower, ready to do the wizards will at any cost. Their master emerged from the tower of Orthanc on a balcony and gazed down at his great army with pride. The fighting Uruk-hai clanged their weapons and let out fearsome war cries. Truly it was an impressive sight. Saruman quieted his army by raising his hand, and gave a short speech.

"March forth, to Helm's Deep. Leave none alive," the wizard commanded. "TO WAR!"

With that, the ring of Isengard emptied like a hornet nest that had been struck with a stick. The Uruk-hai marched on tirelessly. They did not know pain, they did not know fear, and they did not know mercy. Victory was inevitable.

the elven host stood vigilant on the deeping wall, firmly standing between the forces of evil and the innocent few, watching carefully they soon spotted the dim glow of torches in the distance, the Uruk-Hai would attack soon...

ooc: Righto, Im using Estolands stats, except that the riders also have shortbows. And mine will be 250 of each kind of infantry and 800 riders. I will RP Theoden and a few other character( such as captains, and aragorn if i feel so nclined :-P) ::pulls out his Atlas of middle earth, flips to helms deep:: Now, to the RP

IC:
"Greetings to Haldir, friend of the Rohirrim." speaks Theoden, "Your aid is more than welcome here. Dark days are upon us, and light had deserted us, but with your forces comes a beacon of hope, however small. Now, down to buisness. When the time comes, and the Orcish host arrives we must be ready. Have some of your men atop the deeping wall, some on the inner courtyard's wall, and the rest in the outer and inner courtyards. Again, i thank you for your aid, and apologize for my abruptness, but time is running out." With these words he bows, then turns quickly around and strides off to the Burg to continue planning his defense.

As soon as the uruk hai charge, traps set by the mysterious dwarves hiding in the surrounding mountains will explode causing havoc upon the uruk hai there is no stoppin these diveces from exploding

"we shall deploy to the deeping wall and the courtyard, ELDARIN! to the walls!"

*Now you could see a new hope rising on the faces of the militia. Even some of the Riders were happily talking with each other. It still seem'd like there was hope left for Helms Deep. The reason for all this was just taking up positions on the deeping wall. Elves! Who could believe that? After all those years, that even Rohan's History couldn't remember, they still came to aid us. Yes. A little earlier a host of elves(how many?) from the Rivendell and Lorien had arrived at Helm's Deep. But still those few Rider's who had enough wisdom to think more, werent smiling at all. They knew that still the Saruman's army of 10 000 Uruk-Hai was marching closer and closer to Helm's Deep. What could 2000 Rohirrim with some few hundred elves do for that?*

OOC: Sorry, I wanted to give some of the other Uruk players a chance to post. Since they don't seem to be posting, I guess I'll have to keep this RP moving along.

IC: The fighting Uruk-hai marched for Helm's Deep, causing the ground to rumble beneath their armoured legs. Anyone watching would surely have been awestruck at the unstoppable, terrible might of Saruman's army.

It was night when the army approached Helm's Deep. The Uruk-hai marched onward, hungering for Manflesh. Their commander, the great and terrible uruk Ganderg, climbed atop a large boulder and let out a great bellow, driving his soldier onward. The fighting Uruk-hai stopped in front of the fortress of Rohan, and as one they began to thump the butts of their spears on the ground and bang their chests with their fists, letting out terrible war cries. The Uruks were building themselves into a frenzy, and any moment now they would erupt...

Haldir and his elves stood atop the deeping wall, aragorn walked behind them and legolas gave them the Uruk-Hai's weakpoints, in one smooth motion the Eldarin host drew their arrows and pulled back their bows, waiting for the exact right moment to strike...

A rohirrim infantry archer, overeager throught intense hatred of the orcish kind, releases his arrow with quaking hands. Moments later, all hell breaks loose. At the sight of the first loosed arrow, all the rohirrim fire their bows, loosing volley upon volley at the Orcs. Aragorn cries for a hold, but it is too late...

The loosed arrow struck an Uruk in the front row, and all was silent as he fell dead to the ground. Then you could hear the growls, one at first, and then building to a crescendo of growling, snarling and screaming. Then as one the Uruks rushed the wall, some falling to enemy arrows. It didn't seem to hold them back at all. Ladders were pushed up against the wall, with terrible Uruk berserkers riding atop them. They leapt onto the deeping wall, hacking into the defenders with their great two-handed swords. As the defenders fought these deadly foes, more Uruk-hai began climbing onto the wall from the ladders...

The first ladders were repelled, and orders were cried by captains. "Archers to the back, swordsman to the front. keep them ladders off the walls!" the first wave of the uruks that came up the wall killed 30 men, and wounded another 20. Soon, however, the men fought grimly back. Sharpshooters shot arrow after arrow, 8 a minute, into melee, never hitting their own men. Other archers shot into the mass of Orcs and Uruk-hai below, and men teamed up, taking advantage of their numbers in the small area atop the wall. brigades with forked poles of great length attempted to repell ladders.

ooc: yea, im deviating from the movie i know.

Haldir fired arrow after arrow, picking off the larger uruk's as they presented themselves, when the ladders came up he drew his sword and cut the first berserker from the ladder, then moving along the wall he helped the younger elves who did not know how to fight the massive berserks that attacked them, after only a short time, his blade was covered in blood, he looked down at the throng of Uruk-Hai below the wall, and hoped that the elves would live to see the western sea...

The defenders killed uruk after uruk, but they kept on coming. Every ladder thrust up against the Deeping Wall that wasn't immediately pushed off allowed more and more uruks to climb atop the wall and attack the defenders. There were few defenders in comparison, and they couldn't afford the losses they would inevitably take. Every elf or man killed atop the wall made the defense a fraction less fierce and allowed more uruks to climb up and attack. It was a vicious cycle, one that would inevitably lead the fighting Uruk-hai to victory.

Meanwhile, a column of uruks marched up the causeway towards the gate. The warriors in front held up large shields, providing almost complete cover at the front of the column. The warriors on the sides also held shields, providing cover on the sides. The warriors on the inside of the formation held their shields over their heads, protecting the column from archer fire from above. Arrows glanced off the shields as the uruk-hai inched closer and closer to the gate. Somewhere in the column, they carried a battering ram...

Haldir looked to the extremity of his vision and saw a few hundred Uruks slowly heading up the causeway, shielding themselves quite effectivly, he pointed to the Uruks and shouted to the other elves who drew and fired on the approaching battering ram, arrow after arrow fired into the Uruk-hai column, each elf hoping that it would be enough...

Observing the battle from high above, from his post in the burg, Theoden curses heartily. Turning to one of his captains, Theoden says "Get your men down to brace that door! Quickly now, quickly!" He wheels around and retakes his post, watching the battle below. He sees the redoubled attack on the wall, and orders more men from the courtyard to get atop it and aid in it's defense.
