Raid.

12-01-2004, 02:10
OOC: OK, I'm gonna' try something here.

IC: Asu Lex peered at the slave convoy as she crouched in the ditch beside the road, the convoy probably held at least 100 Shyrakats (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2568460#2568460) in the 10 trucks, she reached silently for the AK47 Assault Rifle next to her, and lifted it up, she rose to a crouch as she signalled to her right, 15 Shyrakats rose to a crouch to her right side, another gesture and 15 more rose to a crouch to her left, one final gesture and they rose to their feet, charging out of the ditch at high speed, shouting loudly, as the first few guards came out to meet the attacking Shyrakats, Asu Lex looked at their uniforms, they looked like Special Police, except for the drives, they looked to be with the Army, no matter, they'd all die just the same, she fired off 3 rounds into a guard, watching the pathetic female Human clutch her bloody uniform tunic and collapse into the dirt of the road, she fired again, and a truck driver fell with a bullet in his skull, more drivers and guards fell during the charge, noises on the other side of the trucks let Asu know the group of 31 Shyrakats on that side had made their charge as well, at that moment they finally got within Unarmed Combat range, which is what the Humans had most probably hoped wouldn't happen, she reached one of the trucks and literally ripped the driver's door off, this Army driver was one of the few who still lived, he lifted a pistol as soon as he saw her, she saw the muzzle flash, and felt something zip past her head "Moron" she grunted as she snapped a hand out, grabbing him by the wrist, she pulled him out of the truck and threw him to the ground, as he struggled to get up she fired a single bullet into the back of his head, his limp corpse fell to the road, she heard a scream and turned around to see a man in the uniform of the Special Police charging her with his rifle raised to club her, she simply swung out an arm at the Human and caught him in the chin with her fist, the Human's head snapped back with a sickening crunch, and another corpse fell to the dirt, at this point the sound of combat died down except for a few screams as the last Humans were finished off, at this point Ada Chex, and Amu Ther, began rigging the trucks with High Explosives, 15 minutes later the freed slaves, and Asu Lex's band vanished into the countryside, when they were clear, Amu Ther hit a handheld trigger on his belt, and the trucks blew up in a huge burst.

IC: "Lieutenant?" the voice jarred the 20-year-old Second Lieutenant Bob Harding from his sleep, he took a moment to remember where he was, then it came to him, he was with his Rifle Platoon out in the wild looking for Asu Lex and her Shyrakat Raiders, to be more specific, he was currently sitting on the ground leaning against a log, he looked at his watch and sighed, only 30 minutes of sleep, they had to move quickly when against the Shyrakats, those blasted beasts were sharp, he stood up and stretched, and finally took a look at the person who had shaken him awake, he found himself staring at a man a bit more than twice his age, Sergeant James Wilkes, his Platoon Sergeant, Harding had just been assigned to this Rifle Platoon after completing a 2-year ROTC course, whereas Wilkes had been in the Army for a good while, and had faced Shyrakats before, Harding stared at Wilkes for a moment before the man spoke to him "Lieutenant? your orders?" Harding thought for a moment "Wake up the guys Sergeant" "Yes sir" Wilkes said, he moved about waking up the soldiers, untill all 50 men of the 3rd Rifle Platoon were ready to move, then they set out.

OOC: Comments are welcomed.

Find Asu Lex. That was what the report had said. Find Asu Lex and kill her. Morty Quazuj had never hunted a cat-person before, and he thought that it might be interesting. The assassian hitched up his Sniper rifle and other weapons and prepared to travle to Shyra.
12-01-2004, 04:15
Ravea: The man named Morty Quazuj was unfortunate in the respect that his first time hunting Cathumans he would be hunting the Shyrakats, one of the strongest breeds known, able to accomplish deeds of strength and stamina no Human could even hope for, he would also be facing foes who knew their ground.

Axis of Oz(OOC): Yes.

IC: Asu Lex dropped down the hole in the ground last, moving after the others through a network of tunnels, she moved allmost right away to planning her next raid.

Yes, but do they know the Air?

Morty is indeed not human; he is a Ravean, a race of Bird-People, the original populants of Ravea. They have enhanced streanth and the obvious advantage of flying, as well as extreme speed. They are no where close as strong as Shyrakats, however.

(OCC:Hell, im just trying to make this interesting.)

Ravea(OOC): They can't fly, but they've got good senses.

IC: Ani Xal, another female Shyrakat, looked around herself at the 10 Shyrakat Raiders with her, they'd been warned of some Army forces out looking for Asu Lex and her Raiders, of which Ani and her 10 troops were proud members, their current mission was not the usual "Kill all of the Humans" no, they were to kill all of them, except for the enemy unit's Commanding Officer, he was to be taken prisoner.

Army: Second Lieutenant Harding yawned as he walked through the low grasses, listening to his soldiers move slowly with him.

Hope you don't mind the specop boys bringing along their fancy toys.

IC:
The copilot's voice came over the intercom; her seemingly-calm tones breaking the otherwise eire silence in the cloaked Marine Shock-Pod, "Thirty seconds to insertion; be ready"

Captain Ah'rohk gave an absent nod, "You heard the lady!" he barked, looking over the four other troopers as they quickly ran through last-minute equipment checks; possibly the last time he would see the matt black carapace of their powered infiltrator armour until they were back on the 'Pod for extraction, "Last call; anybody yellah?"

Four green lights winked on his HUD; all his armour's systems responded likewise. "Drop stations!" He watched his heads-up display's drop-timer reach ten seconds, befor hefting his rifle and joining his unit at the door...

OOC:
What's the terrain and vegitation like?
13-01-2004, 13:21
Kanuckistan(OOC): The terrain varies between a dry(But not truly hot), allmost lifeless wasteland full of dirt and rocks, mixed with patches of a kind of woodland that's thick enough to be classified as a light jungle, the wooded areas are the ones usually used by Shyrakats.

((OOC: I hope I may join this, if not please just ignore this post. Note; the Eduyab’Kerrudar are a breed of mortal Elves that are unqiue to the Eastern Lands of the Enduring Empire of Tarakalar.))

News always travels quickly to those willing to hear. And following the recent interest that the Felinoid Outsiders had shown to these ‘Shyrakats’ news had traveled even quicker within the lands of the Enduring Empire… But only to those who wanted to listen.

Staring out over the endless dunes that made up the Eastern land of El’duraib, Dezzan Ulduay breathed the desert air in slowly. As a member of the Eduyab’Kerrudar, he was a creature in touch with the sand , air and blood.
It had been long since he had indulged in a worthy hunt. Nearly two hundred years that he left the borders of the Enduring Empire to hunt down a foreign assassin of human blood… It had been an Honor to kill the human with his trickery and deceit.
Perhaps this ‘Asu Lex’ would be as good a challenge.

Smiling thinly, the being that was once of immortal blood turned mortal turned around and began to make his way back to his clan’s Siege dug deep in the save rocky plateau that laid scattered across the desert sand. He would inform his clan’s chieftain about his intention and then travel too this land of ‘Shyra’ .

Blood would be spilled, Honor would be gained and the hunger would be satisfied.

It seemed a typical evening in the countryside, atleast until an hour after sunset; a slight shimmer in the air, a hundred feet off the ground, followed by five.. 'holes' in the air as large, man-sized distortions fell from them as personal cloaks engaged. They hadn't descended thrity feet of freefall befor all again looked as it was; shadowfields normalised.

Unseen, the squad's descent slowed; troopers lightly rebounding off rocky terrain with the help of inertial compensators, they made their way toward a nearby forest several kilometers distant, covering tens of meters a stride while leaving but the lightest of tracks. Light amplification, IR, motion, and auditory sensors paved their way, onboard smart computers running the data feeds through complex, dynamic pattern recognition as they neared the wood. Three stoped within five hundred meters of the forest, watching, hiding perfectly still in plain sight, invisible, soundless, and scentless; two pushed off hard, inertials carrying them up and over the wood, several water sources, and into another multi-kilometer wasteland nearly twenty kilometers away; passive sensors straining to capture every byte of data during the fly-by.

Back amoung the trio, two lights winked green on Captain Ah'rohk's HUD; the laser tightbeam signil bounced off one of several Kanuckistani military comms sats currently above the horizon. Satisfyed they were down safe, he settled in for two hours of observation, absently matching the terrain around him to the satalite maps they'd reviewed in the breifing. It would be several minutes befor Black Three and Four's TacComps sorted through and compressed the data from their fly by, which would then be shared with the rest of the squad via a burst transmission bounced off an orbiting Kanuckistani MilCommSat.
13-01-2004, 15:01
Tarakalar(OOC): Go ahead, one question, why does he want to kill Asu Lex?

Kanuckistan: The information from the fly-by performed by Black Three and Black Four was not to exciting to look at, but it did spot what looked like uniformed Humans trudging through the grass and trees, and a few other figures.

Woods: Ani Xal crawled through the vegetation on the forest floor, she could smell the Humans better than she could see them at this point, but that was just because she was crouching down so low, if she raised up a little she'd be able to see them easily, she crawled forward some more, followed by her 10 Raiders.

((OOC: Hunting and Honor are concepts of importance within the Enduring Empire of Tarakalar. This is even more so for the Eduyab’Kerrudar. And Dezzan Ulduay himself doesn't care much for the Outsiders that recently were welcomed into the Enduring Empire. *The Cat-people of my nation* So this is a bit of killing two birds with one stone. Proves himself better than any Felinoid and get some Honor out of it too.))

Things had gone better than he could have hoped for. His chieftain had freely provided him with the monetary means to travel on a quick transport private to Shyra. Though he had only fourteen days to hunt down this 'Asu Lex' and then return home, he was certain he would succeed well within that timelimit.

Though he really had wished his travel too Shyra had gone faster. By the time he had arrived, the land was illuminated only by lamps and the stars. Still, that didn't bother him beyond the travel time he wasted.

Running his hands over the various shades of brown clothing he wore, Dezzan grinned, his pearly white teeth stading out in the dark as he began to make his way out of the open slightly 'grassy' land he had been dropped off.
He couldn't well show up at an official airport with all his weapons, now could he?

OOC: I see.

IC: Dezzan Ulduay, skilled though he was, was in for a fight.

((OOC: Do the people here speak english, btw? or Dutch. Cause otherwise Dezzan is certain to face a language barrier.))

He had traveled for roughly thirty minutes while always keeping his arrival spot to his back. When he felt he was close enough he kneeled down and began to rapidly dig hole in the ground where he placed his duffel bag that contained the majority of his weapons and equipment. When the hole had been covered again he spend a few minutes smoothing the ground to remove evidence of digging and got up.

Memorizing the location, Dezzan grinned. The chances of anyone finding his bag with weapons was minute unless they knew what and where they had to look, both of which he would easily remember. With having secured his weapons, the Eduyab’Kerrudar began to head for a city he had seen during his arrival with his transport.

‘Time to learn the abilities of my prey.’

---

The track to the city took roughly another hour or so, but it was time well spend he was certain. Shortly before he had reached the city limits he ruffled his black shoulder length hair so that the obvious non-human ears were significantly covered. He would not let any possible Outsiders deny him the knowledge he sought simply because he was from another species.

Time passed slowly in the busy place for Dezzan as he tried to find what he was looking for, while all studying the humans here. Eventually he smiled softly as he found the building he sought and headed towards the library. Hopefully, they were still open at this time of the day. If not, he would simply have to try tomorrow to find any information on the Shyrakats... That hopefully would be truth rather than pure proganda.
14-01-2004, 14:58
OOC: English is the Primary Language, allmost nobody speaks pure Dutch, but most people also do speak the language called Afrikaans, which is Dutch but it has been influenced by many languages including English, Malay, German, Portuguese, French and some African languages.

IC: As Dezzan entered the Public Library of Jonokoro, which was the capital of Shyra, and the only major city, he saw that is was open, but apparently not very popular, allmost noone was there, there were plenty of books however.

((OOC: Cool. He will be fine then.))

Dezzan raised an dissaproving eyebrow as he saw how calm the place was, but then decided that it might be to late for most to the library.

Still, the library had an impressive ammount of books to be certain, so there had to be something that allowed him to find what he was looking for.

Strolling for a moment almost lazily through the public library, he finally made a half turn and headed towards the reception and help desk. Any time saved is time well spend.
Not certain what the local 'slang' was Dezzan decided to go with the common Outsider means of speak, informal.

"Good evening, miss. I am looking for books containing anatomical and psycological information on the 'Shyrakats' for a study I am performing for a zoological society. Do you know where I might find those?"

His voice was smooth like velvet though the slightest tinge of a almost gravelly accent was hinted at with his words. Large and observive brown eyes watched intetently at the woman behind the desk as he waited for her reply.
14-01-2004, 20:06
IC: "Don't see why you'd want such books" she said "They're in the Back Room, you'll need the keys"
Tarakalar
15-01-2004, 02:58
"I see. Thank you. May I have these keys? Or would I need to get them somewhere else?"

Dezzan smiled ambiguously. He honestly didn't care what an Outsider thought of him or his interests, real or not. But as long as their willing to help, he can afford to be friendly.
15-01-2004, 03:11
IC: "I can get them for you sure" she rummaged around under the counter for awhile, and came up with two big, 6-inch-long keys with a metal tag attached to them by a key chain, the words BACK ROOM KEY were stamped out on it.
Tarakalar
15-01-2004, 12:56
"Thank you very much, my dear." Taking the keys from the woman, he nodded gratefully at her and after a brief examination of the keys he headed into the direction of where he supposed the backrooms would be.

Smiling as he saw he made the proper guess, he approuched the door and with a quick insertion and twist of the keys he opened the door and entered the backroom. Looking around the room, Dezzan calmly looked around at the books here before beginning to search for any books to would provide him proper information on the abilities of his prey.

Ah'rohk spent a minute reviewing the recording once recived, deciding to grasp this lead. A blue light flashed a quick sequence on the HUDs of his squadmates, followed by the single strobe of four green lights on his own.

Silently, Black's One, Two, and Five touched off and closed on their objective above the tree canopy, the sensor overlay on their HUDs keeping them apraised of the envrioment better than any organic ear or eye; their suits couldn't sustain true powered flight for long, befor needing time to recharge capasitors, but it would be more than enough, and the Captain had deemed absoloute stealth of aproach was more than worth the temporary reduction given the numerous unknowns.

Meanwhile, Black Three and Four held their position, watching their squadmates projected locations on their HUDs; for now, they were backup.

Time passed by as Dezzan spend his time in the backroom, reading the books that contained the information about the Shyrakats. First it was just a few minutes, soon several hours went on by till eventually the library employees told him he had to leave because they were closing.
Dezzan didn’t mind too much, he had learned what he needed to and felt now more able to think as his prey.

He did not leave the city immediately; instead he went to a relatively cheap hotel and rented a room and slept for nearly an entire day. It was better to regain energy before rather than during the hunt after all. After a quick meal he paid for the hotel’s services and without further ado left the city, not bothering to look at any of the sights he encountered while he went to retrieve his duffel bag.

---

Five hours. It had been roughly five hours since he had arrived at the borderline of the forest. He had retrieved his equipment a significant while before that and now he lay here between several thick plants. Dezzan's breath was hardly noticeable as he studied the wildlife and the forest itself from his spot, still out of the Shyrakat rebels territory, but close by enough to learn of their land. He knew what the Shyrakat could thanks to the books, now he had to learn of their land. Those who are ill prepared never succeed afterall.

16-01-2004, 02:07
IC: Unfortunatley for Dezzan he hadn't learned everything, he knew far more than a casual layman, but the authors of the books he had read were biased, they slightly underestimated the intelligence of Shyrakats, as well as other factors.

Army: Second Lieutenant Harding, Sergeant Wilkes, and the other men of their Rifle Platoon all walked slowly through the underbrush, they didn't notice the Shyrakats untill the man in the very rear gave them a warning, their warning was his death scream as he was pulled down by an unseen foe, massive amounts of AK47 fire ensued, this lasted for several seconds, untill Wilkes noticed noone was returning their fire, he pointed this out to Harding who raised his arm "Cease fire!" the gunfire died away, in the brush, Ani Xal smiled evilly, still clutching the dead Human in a death grip.

17-01-2004, 01:37
((OOC: Well, Dezzan isn't likely to underestimate intelligence. After all, their clearly is prejudice in this country. Besides, no hunter underestimates the prey. Well, they shouldn't.))

Eventually, Dezzan felt he had familiarized himself enough with the woodlands and was about ready to move into the forest.

Opening his duffel bag he began to take out his equipment and weapons carried within. Two Kwaal’diem. Knifes that were shaped much like a raptor’s talon, curved and razor sharp. Easily capable of cutting though bone, it made them useful for cutting the vertebrae in the neck, severing brain from the body quietly and quickly. A long blade that could be used as an machete. Several rations of prepackaged food and water, if somehow he failed to catch and collect those himself or an emergency showed up. A single pistol and finally his personal prize, his Jemdanaal. His rifle, a sniper rifle to be precise. Unlike typical elven craftsmanship it was not overly stylized or a symbol of beauty. It however was undeniably rugged and looked like it could survive the most inept and moronic use with a smile and similarly was capable of being easily used in the most demanding environments. Hiding his duffel bag in the bushes, he calmly began to approach the woodland.

When he reached the borderline of the forest, he began to collect plants and leafs he knew had a potent scent and began to rub himself, his clothes and his weapons in with them to cover his own and his weapons scent. When finished, he slowly stayed along the tree’s and bushes, checking for any traps along the way and walking far more silent than any desert dweller should do in a forest. Unless they had practiced many times in forests before…

Ah'rohk and the two squadmates with him had just touched down in a rocky clearing, when gunfire sounded not a hundred meters distant. Instinctivly, they hit the ground and brought their weapons up face the sound, waiting several moments befor deciding they weren't the targets; 'Shyrakat raiders?' the Captain mused, as the gunfire died, 'Perfect.'

Audio sensors had, meanwhile, triangulated the locations and number of shooters, as well as identifying their weapons via comparitive sound matching. Fortifyed with this knowledge, the team got to their feet and spread out, slowly aproaching; their skillfull movements through the underbrush, already silent beyond most ears, completely muted behind the shroud of their personal shadowfield cloaks.

Continuing their aproach, the view inside their helmets horizontally compressed, providing a 360 degree 'fish-eye' view befor their eyes, both visual and thermal; auditory sensors devouring even the slightest peep. Fifty meters distant, the Captain guessed, befor their TacComps would be able to start picking out the soldier's heartbeats, as well as those of their adversarier, given the background noise of the forest; sooner if they were excited...

Army: It was now a creeping game, Second Lieutenant Bob Harding lay on his stomach in the underbrush, clutching his AK47 with white-knuckled hands, Sergeant Wilkes was over somewhere else among the Rifle Platoon, helping him manage the unit, his ROT(Radio Operations Technician), PFC Alexander Hughes, was seated in the grass next to him "Any word from HQ yet Hughes?" Harding asked "No sir, we seem to be unable to establish contact" "****!" Harding swore quietly.

Raiding Party: Meanwhile, 20 more Shyrakat Raiders move out to meet with Ani Xal and help her in her mission.

Army: Harding crawled through the brush quietly, Hughes was not far behind him, his search for Sergeant Wilkes was stopped by more gunfire, mixed with the explosion of a Hand Grenade, he stood up along with several Riflemen and looked around, opening fire in the direction it seemed the enemies had fired from, from the sounds and muzzle flashes he estimated 20-30 enemies, several of his men fell early on, reducing his Rifle Platoon by 20, leaving him with 30 soldiers, not including himself and Sergeant Wilkes, he fired some more and shouted out an order to his men "Get down now!" everyone dropped, but the firing continued.

Raiding Party: The enemies were falling fast, Ani Xal still couldn't find the Human CO however, nor could any of her unit, they had to find him and take him alive.

A pair of green lights flashed three times in response; both had taken cover as he had, and none were hit.

Near the raiders...

The figures approached coming out from the shadows nearby, almost deceiving illusions of the eyes. They moved fast, almost invisible, moving like a fast wind, only leaving the impression of kinetic movement when they approached.

Several of them climbed the roof of the first truck with outstanding and superb agility, others surrounded the Shylarkats with few movements.

A soft voice spoke through some kind of electronic device. "We're looking for Asu Lex. She stands 5' 4" and weighs 114 lbs. She has brown skin, green eyes, and yellowish-white hair. Her hair is very long, and braided, ending in a large gold ring at about her knees. Her usual outfit consists of a green one-piece miniskirt and blouse with a white bodice over that, dark brown hose, white knee-high leggings, black shoes, and a large gold bell worn around her neck. Is she here?. Is she one of you?", spoke the voice on an emotionless tone.

The fighting had stoped.

A few dozen meters away, Captain Ah'rohk watched as the Shyrakats carried away the only survivor; Probally not the best time to introduce ourselves, he thought, especially if their captive is awake, or wakes up.

Standing, another series of blue lights flashed on his teammates' HUDs; he and the two would follow the Shyrakat's at a safe distance, while Black Three and Four would move up and investigate the casualties and overall scene of the battle. Four green lights flashed on the Captain's HUD, acknowledging his orders.

The two tasked with investigating the scene continue beyond a simple body count after arriving, examining the ground and brush to try and reconstruct the battle, as well as reviewing a burst transmission containing their three comrads logs of the skermish.

As they continue, they try and analise the tactics used by both sides, the skill and experiance of those involved, and guestimating the numbers of dead and wounded the raiders may have suffered in the attack. They also examined weapons and other battle gear, seeing what had been issued, how worn it was, and how well things were maintained, in addition to the physical condition of the forgine troopers. The highest ranking officer found was also searched for documentation.

A detailed examination like this takes time, however. In the meantime, the Captain and half his command continue following the raiders as they move off, maintaining a safe distance of no less than two or three dozen meters.

"They're gone", said one voice, in Sindarin, once they scanned the perimeter. "They're carrying their wounded, so I think they will slow down a little. Maybe we should try to catch them".

"Someone is coming, looks like the Kanuckistan forces we scanned some time ago. What we should do Captain?", answered another voice, a younger one, with a strong Sindarin accent.

"Wait for them. don't show yourselves until we're pretty sure that they won't fire at us, maybe they could help us", said the first voice, speaking with the authority of an officer.

As the Kanuckistan forces approached and checked the bodies and the former battlefield, the Aelosians just waited, motionless, watching the soldiers carefully.

I think you missunderstood my gear and deployment; my guys've been sitting a few dozen meters away watching the battle unfold. Also, they were cloaked for their entire deployment, and unlike the Pedator's imperfect cloak, the Quantim Improbibility Shadowfield is perfectly invisible, even on IR, UV, and masks sound to boot. They're also wearing nothing that would give away their nationality, even if you had the opertunity to stripsearch 'em.

BTW, as a heads-up, personal ASPEW fields will place them beyond the reach of any magick.

And I thought you were surrounding another group of Shyrakats?

IC: The equipment used by the soldiers is average, their health is normal, save for the fact that they're dead, the Army Riflemen seem to work for a strong defense as far as tactics go, they didn't move around much, the Raiders use geurilla tactics it seems.

OOCly pokes Aelosia, "I can't my 'rear gaurd' actions until you clarify what's going on with your people; best I can figure is you have two groups here, and forgot my folks were cloaked; also, feel free to elaborate on your stealth system, for as it stands, I don't think my guys would have problems seeing you."

IC:
Meanwhile, the three SWAT following the Shyrakats continued doing so.
