An official ceremony was held at the main EDWD office in the Diplomatic Cluster of Cascade to formally end the Q Console project. After over thirty years of service, the project is being ended as SeOCC readjusts its spending priorities in light of the decreasing need for aggressive defense policies. While the EDWD will continue to update its EDW equipment, contracts will no longer be controlled by the government and will be handled by public firms.
Many citizen groups, especially those that have opposed the clandestine nature of the EDWD, have celebrated the move and have called for more transparency in SeOCC's security institutions. While the MFA has declined such requests, they left the door open by saying this is the first of a series of changes the EDWD will be undergoing.
