TEAM KOR3A will be returning to the NSHC. We can't give up our second-place ranking! If Cockbill Street is getting tired of hosting we would be happy to co-host with either them or another nation.

Be the Blues!

P.S./OOC. Not including KOR3A I think Bariloche did the second or third best job of roleplaying so I'd love to see them return to. And hey, maybe keep this open a TAD longer, no reason we couldn't have 14 teams if we do, at the pace this is going.

Handball World Cup RP thread (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=104936)
Handball World Cup II RP Thread (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=110812)

Only one change has been made to the NEWI Cefn Druids Griffins' roster for World Cup III, as it was very young at World Cup II. It is now as follows:

1. Trevor Johnson ( GK, 25 )
2. Trevor Lee-Davies ( LB, 30 )
3. Stuart James ( CB, 25 )
4. Dave Yeats ( RB, 31 )
5. Trevor Cannon ( LW, 29 )
6. Trevor Chapman ( RW, 18 )
7. Rhys Chapman ( CR, 17 )

Substitutes:

8. Trevor Jones ( RW, 32 )
9. Eric Renton ( CB, 32 )
10. Trevor Ormillton ( RB, 29 )
11. Robert Thakes ( LB, 26 )
12. Trevor West ( LW, 24 )
14. Terry Hat ( CR, 30 )
15. Trevor Neville ( GK, 17 )

Only first choice goalkeeper Trevor Johnson is going to his first World Cup, and he would have been at the last one if it hadn't been for a freak injury in the build-up to the tournament.

The griffins' new kit is of gold and red halves, even as far as having one sock gold and the other red. Their change kit remains all blue, with the old black and white striped kit only being used if both kits clash with the opposition's.

Manager
Harsorna, Symon

After a shock qualification the team prepare to head off to Rejistania/TBF
to make their World Cup debut, taking with them the hopes and prayers of an entire nation. Their purple and orange kit has been laughed at by many, especially seasoned nations who say it is a sickening combination but kit designer Karl Mantside says different. "What these fellows don't realise is that the Telewest team are used to these colours where as they are not, its a ploy to distract the opposition!!". If you say so Karl. Lets face it Telewest need all the help they can get.

Of the two hosting bids, the winner will be

Rejistania/TBF

The KOR3A/Sliponian bid was good, but in the end the jury decided to ask the more experienced hosts. However, I'd say that a KOR3An bid for WCIV might be favoured.

Group draw in for NSHC III
Rejistania Desk - Today Rejistania along with The Belmore Family released this year's NationStates Handball Championship group draw. KOR3A was drawn in group one, along with The Belmore Family, SirLakousMan, and Lovisa. SirLakousMan and Lovisa, newcomers to the NSHC, should not prevent much of a threat to the more experienced KOR3AN team. Pundits, however, are divided on whether The Belmore Family will be able to use its' hosting of the tournament to gain advantage in a match against KOR3A. Coach Allen X. Kou exuded confidence, however, at the team's kickoff press conference. "We acknowledge they've got the home court," said Kou. "But we're bringing the most skill to this match, and we think that's what counts. If you KOR3AN fans out there can buy tickets, though, we'd appreciate having a cheering section as we win." It remains to be seen if TEAM KOR3A can actually win that match, but fans worldwide are looking forward to an exciting set of games.

KOR3A (actually 4th in ranking) and The Belmore Family (12) are a favorites this group, but I thing Lovisa will be a black horse in this group and maybe go to next stage in this Champs.

We know that Lovisa start first time in Handball Champion, but we belive we are not weak and will play with fairest.

Telewest Today

Sport

There was scandal today as the rankings and group draw was announced for the world cup handball championships in Rejistania. The director of Telewest sport has declared that manager Symon Harsorna, is incapable of getting the team past the first stage after he was caught reading 'Handball made simple - the pop up edition'. This comes just weeks after he was accused of sleeping his way to the top. Quite how he did that seeing the directors of sport are all male is anyone's guess, but this reporter will bet his house that Harsorna isn't averse to a little sausage.
The rankings were no surprise to Telewest, who have been seeded last (along with the other newcomers)and the draw was as difficult as expected. With 2 top seeds (Cockbill Street and NEWI Cefn Druids) to contend with, no-one in Telewest is expecting very much from the team. The only light at the end of the tunnel (however dim it may be) is the fact that we have also drawn handball newcomers Delicious Frankfurters, though whether their manager is having to study childrens books of the game is anyones guess.
The whole of Telewst will be watching this, their first entry into an international competition, with baited breath. Bets are on, sickies have been thrown, and 'handball made simple' is a bestseller. God help us all.

GRIFFINS' KEEPER CONFIDENT OF PROGRESS
Trevor Burgess reports on the Handball World Cup

The NEWI Cefn Druids handball team arrived in The Belmore Family today, as they prepare for the imminent World Cup.

After finishing fifth in their first attempt at the sport, goalkeeper Trevor Johnson told reporters that they were hoping to do even better this time.

"To do so well first time around, it would be a shame for us to lose progress on the top teams. Obviously, the biggest match is going to be the one against Cockbill Street, but we should be fired up for them this time around."

The Griffins were beaten soundly by Cockbill Street at the last World Cup, but Johnson knows that his team is stronger now. "We have a full strength team, as well as tournament experience, so this one will be a lot closer than the last."

But Johnson is aware of the threat of the new teams on the stage. "Obviously, Telewest and Delicious Frankfurters will be up for their games against us as we are now one of the big boys, but we were in a similar position to them last time out, so in no way will we be underestimating them."

When questioned about the potential scandal involving Telewest, Johnson was reluctant to reply. He told us, "It's none of our business really. If their coach likes delicious frankfurters, that's his choice. And when I say that, I don't mean the team, if you know what I mean!"

Griffins' Group 2:

Cockbill Street (3)
NEWI Cefn Druids (5)
Delicious Frankfurters (17)
Telewest (17)

OOC: Should we just leave this one here or bring it over to the RP thread?
