BNN News Report

The Inquisition has announced today that the Imperial Council is debating whether or not mayors should be granted permission to allow areas with high populations to vote for city council members. Mayors have been complaining because of the increased population they have to appoint more and more city council members which is getting needlessy tedious.

If the Inquisition(currently ruling body in steed of the Emperorship which is awaiting an appropiate heir rumored to be crowned next year,) rules in favor of allowing elections the following changes will take place:

1. Mayors will be given the option to allow city council elections in there cities.
2. The following requirements will be needed to be considered an eligable voter
-Male
-Citizen
- 21 years of age
- Must be a property owner. must have total assets equal to atleast 400 thousand dollars. Must earn atleast 150 thousand a year. 100 thousand if he is a store/business owner
-(special consideration) Inquisitors and former Inquisitors are all given the right to vote.

In order to run for office a canidate must meet the following requirements:
-Meet all the requirements of being a voter except for the following changes: Total Assets must equal 1 million dollars or above. Income must be 300 thousand dollars a year, or 200 thousand dollars a year if business/store owner.
-(special consideration) Former Officers of the Inquisition are given running rights.

The Inquisition will making a ruling on voting rights some time this year or possibly wait till an Emperor is crowned to make a ruling.

The possibility of Elections has been struck down by the Emperor. Advisement to the Governors is as follows "If the mayors complain about having to add more city council seats then the fault lies in the mayor and he should either be replaced or his sphere of control be decreased to something he could more easilly manage."

Are you sure this is such a good idea? According to my Mom, Royal Power must never be eaten up by the corrupt ideal of rabble rule (democracy).

Well the law was struck down, and it was only proposed because of snivelling mayors complaining they had to appoint too many people to office.
