OOC: just bare with me

Veers looked down on the papers he had infront of him. Dannelands millitary was in a great need if upgrading. Compared to the other nations military, well, it sucked. Though in numbers it was large. It still didnt cost more than 5% of the Defence Budget.
When Danneland came back it had a population boom of 800 million people. And that was alot more money to spend.


Proffessor Macentyre sat on the other side of the table.
Veers began, "so, you want to build big robots based on a popular cartoon?"
The proffessor just nodded.
"and you want me to believe you that they will work?"
again the proffessor nodded.
"elaborate"

"well, the first problem one encounters is that they are so big. That the ground they walk on would be.. well, destroyed. That me and my department have fixed with adding small jet engines in the feets that makes sure that the foot will land soft on the ground and will stay there without sinking into the ground. The other thing is the armour, we are not that sure what would be best to use. It all sounds insane, I know. But when one starts to think about it, it can be done."

"weponary?"

"Missiles and huge assault rifles"

Veers looked down in his papers again. "when can we see these.. gundams in action?"

"I dont know"

"you dont know?"

"never built one before sir"

"and power?"

"fusion, we've known it for a long time now sir. the power is the last of our problems"

Veers thought at it for a moment.. "well, okay, we have a surplus in the defence budget. You are cleared to begin to build them.

"we need help with the armour if we want this completed soon"

Veers nodded and waved with his hand to get Macentyre out of here, he had other things to atend to.

Location: secret millitary research facility


"So, how is it going?" Macentyre asked. the young scientist looked up from his desk, sitting infront of a computer.
"well, we have done some models how they would look. And.. the problem isnt realy to build it, we know what we need and how to get them. It will only take time, thugh, our biggest problem is the armour. And well, without a sollution to that problem. We can't start to build them at all. Titanium would be one option, though... it might be to heavy."

Macentyre nodded, "well, show me the models and I'l go see the others on the armour progress"


"yes sir, well here is the first one. We've namned it Alpha since it was the first one we modeled. High speed, high mobility this Gundam suits for assault and recon. It will also be equiped with a sword and knives.. just like in the series"

"and heres the seccond one, we've namned it to Sephyre, this is more like a regular Gundam, not that fast, not to slow.. you know, a regular soldier. The best thing about this one is it can be equiped with just about anything."

"well, thats all at the moment. I could give you the technical details if you wany?"

Macentyre shook his head, "no, I dont have time for that.. got to check on the armour crew, good job. I look forward to see new models and more details"

Dr Macentyre made his way down to the lower levels of the compund where the armour was developed. After some secutiry checks he walks into the sacred heart of the Armour research.

"So.. how are we doing boys?" fifteen men rose their heads from their computers.
"well, we have come up with some ideas"

"well, go ahead"


The room was formed like a square with computers facing the wall where the entrance.. wasnt.
On that wall was a large screen. The screen blipped and became activated, on it a metal piece could be seen.

"well sir, we've taken the lightest and the strongest metal we have, titanium. The first thing we knew was that it would be to heavy if we wanted it to be able to take that ammount beating we want. After some brainstorming we came up with this first idea."

The metal piece was devided into two parts.

"well, its all spaced out and we are not quite sure if we can do it. But it should work. Between these two halves we would put in a form of electro carpets. We couldnt come up with any other name. These electro carpets would produce a small force field strong enough to take some serious pounding. Though, every beat they recieve would weaken the force field since the electrocarpet wouldnt be able to produce enough power."

"Why is that?"

"well, the electrocarpet it small and thinn, if it would try to produce more power it would blow the fuses and then we wouldnt have a force field at all.
The thicker and bigger carpet, the more powerfull force field."

Macentyre nodded "so.. what is the other idea"

"err.. well, that would be to buy armour technology from another nation"

Macentyre just shook his head "we've tried that.. get on with it, make this happend"

"yes sir"

And with that they got a green light to start the research on force field armour. They estimated that it would take some 2-3 years.

"Well, this is how it works, well.. with a simple picture that is." Macentrye began.
"We have a carpet wich consits of millions of plus and minus cores, these cores are built up with advanced electro-chargers. The name sounds confusing, but it is exactly what it is."

Veers looked at him.. "a force field? your telling me that you've built a force field?"

Macentyre nodded, "the eletro-chargers send an electric pulse to its opposite component, the negative or possitive electro charger. Since they either create negative or positive charges, when they recieve the oposite charge they create a field of pure energy, or a force. The energy, or the force isnt exactly a force field. but rather a field that reduces the speed of incomming objects, or anything at all. Instead of having the field making the objects explode on it, it just stops it. Though it can stop a large number of objects, it cant withstand it forever. For each object it stops, the field weakens. Why?.. well, we havent realy figured that out. But what we guess is that the electro-carpet cant produce enough force or energy to hold a stable ammount of energy flow. An object that the force field stops takes a certain ammount of energy. And the electro-carpet has a certain ammount of energy that it can produce. Once its gone, it has to recharge the force field, it takes an hour or two to charge it up again."

Veers nodded, "but from this picture... I can make out two force fields"

"well, that is another problem. The electro-capret generates a forcefield all around it. So, there are two force fields, one on the outside and one on the inside. We can't have only one. Mabye with some more research, some 10 years I would guess. It is lucky that we even figured this out. A wild idea from the beginning, but we made it this far."


Veers nodded again and took some notes, "and what about the titanium armour?.. wont the force field stop that also?"

Macentrye nodded "yes it will, the titanium armour will take away some energy from the force field. But since its not moving, it only weakens the force field a bit"

"why dont we put the electro-carpet on the outside?"

"well, if the force field fails, the electro-carpet will be destroyed, and can't recharge the force field again. The titanuim armour and the electro-carpet protects one another"

"well then" Veers smiled "it seemed that you met your own expecations, not that I ever beleieve that you could do it. .. start building the first verision of this.. Gundam"

Macentyre looked at the designs.. "so, what is this?"
The young scientist started to explain. "well, this one is the Kämpfer. We felt that the two gundam designs we have at the moment isnt enough, we needed a heavy assault Gundam able to take out targets miles from it. Just like any regular tank and such things. So, here it is.. the name is from the series but the weaponary. Well, it has two artillary (sp?) on its back. With the help of Satelite GPS cordination it will be able to attack its target from some 12 km away with an accurasy of 87%, further than 12 the accurasy goes down with 5% for each km. Also a heavy assault rifle, and on its legs it has two Class-9 Attack Robot"

Macentyre rose an eyebrow "Class-9? Isnt that a cruise missile?"

The scientist nodded "yes it is, but not to use in "close combat". As I said, this Gundam is for long-range attacking. The Assault rifle is there just in case"

"very well.. fine.." Macentyre replied... "and the next one?"

"Well sir, this is a development of the Sephyre class Gundam. It is a pure assault gunda equiped with a heavy assault rifle, a sword and a missile pack on its back. With fast speed our idea is that this would overrun enemy boarders or defence areas. It can also be equiped with just about any weapon we have. If the Sephyre is our Soldier, the Zaku is our marines."


Macentyre smiled and pressed a button, the screen on the wall turned itselfe of and the left wall turned into a window. Overlooking a large construction area where the first Gundam Prototype was being built.
"It is amazing how fast we are building this thing, the electro carpet we easier to produce than we thought. I estamate that withing three years we will have our first complete Gundam. And in 10 we'll have factories massproducing these behemoths. It is a good thing for Danneland"

Macentyre walk into a smaller office where only two scientist fit in with their computer.
"I understand that you have something to show me?"

The two scientists was working on smaller Gundams, or rather mechs as they called it. Even though it was important just as the huge Gundams, the mech department had few applications and no one realy wanted to work with them. It was more exiting to work on the huge Gundams.
"well, yea.."

"look, Im sorry that you dont get an office as big as the Gundams and all that, but I cant do anything about it. The Goverment has said that our main priority is the Gundams. But I understand that the mechs are just as important. We cant have a Gundam guarding our beloved Dictators door in the hallway, but a mech can. We need to update every aspect of our military.. so.. what do you have for me?"

"well.. here is one of em'" one of the scientists replied.
Macentyre stood behind him looking at his computer screen.

"Unlike the Gundams, we cant produce, or build a prototype. Our goal at the moment is to fine tune those we have thought up at this moment. We hope to get a prototype ready in 4 years, since its only the two of us. This is Onus. Two rockets on its "wings", heavy machine guns. Not that fast though, maximum speed is about as fast as a human can run. On the other hand, it has various sensors and detectors. Night vision, thermal vision, detectors that will sence if anything moves. Temperature changes.. the whole kit. It can cover itselfe with the "wings" using them as shields. Pressing a button will move them infront of the cockpit. Can take some beating. This has only the titanium armour and no electro-carpet. To many moving parts and sensors. The electro-carpet would mess with them all."

Macentyre nodded "what is that big round thing at the back?"

"the small powerpack. Its to small to have a fusion reactor in it. So it has to be charged up once every day. The length of the battery is unaffected by what the Onus does. Run, climb stair, shot, strafe. Still, once every day."

Again Macentyre nodded.. "next one?"

"well, this one has as you can see two huge miniguns. This mech is all about firepower and namned Zeus. No sensors other than nightvision. Everything that isnt cockpit is storage for ammo. The battery is well shielded, and like the Onus it has to be charged up every day."

"next one?" Macentyre asked.

"there aint no next one, this is all that we've manage to come up with so far. With all the details,schematics and all that. for crying out loud! WE'RE ONLY TWO PEOPLE!" the scientist yelled at him, the long nights and stress had made a scar in his inner peace.


"calm down" Macentyre smiled. "its all good, keep up the work and you will be remembered"

A tear fell from Macentyres eye as he looked at the creation. "amazing.. truly amazing"

He turned around and faced all those scientist that had worked so hard to produce this first prototype gundam.
"It is a great day, for us, for the nation, for our leader. We have togeather with combined streangth with combined minds, with combined forces succeeded in building a Gundam!"

Everyone in the room made a loud cheer, long hours, long days, long weeks. They had worked so hard, put every last bit of their soul into this machine. And it was realy ready. Ready for its first testing.

A bottle of champane was attached to a rope. Macentyre took the champane bottle in his hand and threw it towards the gundam, it his hits knee and broke into thousand of pieces, while the champane flooded the knee.
"I name you P1" (prototype 1)

"We have mutch work to do, so mutch testing. Now that it is ready, there might be a chance that people will see this. Even worse, foreign countries gains knowledge of this piece of art and tries to steal it. So, we have to be extra carefull. The goverment has dispatched a regiment for testing. And another two regiments to make sure that this project stays a secret.
So from now on, there will be more security. I know you have been used to just popping in and work. And well, few of you have gone home. But if you feel that you must go home, it will take some time to get through all the security."


Some hours later


The gundam, with its first pilot Cheng. An asian man who had got a crash course in controling a gundam. Though, he was a brilliant programer. And he was truly needed in calibrating the gundam as the tests whent on. It stood in the middle of the vast snowcovered land. Neares city was some 300 miles from the testing site. And the facility where it had been built was 120 miles from there.
The small jet-engines that made sure that the Gundam didnt make big holes in the ground made a small noice.

"well, first thinng we need to test is the electro-carpet. If that fails, the whole gundam project fails"

"Cheng, all green?"

"Cheng here, all green"

"allright, begin testing phase one. Fire!"

A behemoth tank, one of the relics of the golden days of danneland fired uppon the Gundam. When the shell was two centimeters from the gundam it fell to the ground.

"shields are holding at 73%, charging up with a rate of 1% each 3 minutes"

Macentyre nodded, "okay, fire three rounds"

The behemoth tank fired once, twise and a third time. The first shell stoped two centimeters from it, the seccond one and the third 0,5 from it.

"shields are holding at 10%, another shell and the shields will fail. I would advice not to fire again" Cheng said.

"cant you calibrate so it can hold another round?"


"I dont know, mabye.. give me a few minutes" Chengs fingers pressed one button after another on the keyboard inside the Gundam, the screen infront of him flashed as numbers whent across it. some minutes whent by.
"well, try now, it says that the shields are at 30%, I gave it a boost. Wich would make this thing have shields at 120% from start.. fire one.. round"

Macentyre nodded and gave the order, the tank fired one round. The shell stopped 0,2 centimeters from the Gundam.

"shields at 0%, with this technology a gundam can take 5 rounds of our most powerfull tank."

The rest of the test was all about performance, speed, jumping, moving, scanning, strafing, avoiding. At first, the gundam you walked around like some drunk person.
But with Chengs programming and Macentyres guidance it took some
days to reconfigure and calibrate the systems so it worked pretty well.

Everyone worked around the clock, 24/7

a week later


"This test will see how the shields will hold against rockets"
Macentyre said and gave the order to fire a rocket at the gundam.
Chengs fingers whent over the buttons with a great speed over the keyboard. The rocket stoped 3 centimeters from the Gundam.
"Shields are holding at 80%" Cheng replied.
"I succeeded in making the electro-carpet produce more shield to the outside than to the inside, I would guess this would increese the performance to the Gundam also. At this point, a gundam can take 5 rockets and 10 artillary or tank rounds. Pretty good"

Macentyre smiled, "good, take P1 back to the facility, we'l take some well earnt vacation for a week"

OOC: On the other hand, instead of having 10 million troops (like most of the nations around) I'l have some 10.000 Gundams instead, unlike others. I dont plan to produce 1 gazilion Gundams.

Seriously, Im not going argue about this.
Its not godmodding, they dont have some übertech weaponary with laser-rocket-deathstar-guns wich vaporize a city at an instant.
You want to take out a gundam? Take two tanks, have them fire 5 rounds each and the shielding is gone. Fire two more round and you've penetrated its armour and probably wasted the big thingy.
Other nations has space armadas, ships the size of texas. Enough troops to go into another country, get the right to vote and just vote out the current goverment.

I know that the gundams are almost a Tabo here at NS since everyone thinks that they are just waay to powerfull, well you know what? The secret isnt how powerfull these tings are. The secret is how good you RP.

err, they are not for sale.

The Gundam Project came to its final stage, where a factory had been built and the construction of the first Gundam Wing had started.

To build these behemoths, a small town was allmost born around the factory since there were so many components that were nessesary, the armour, the weapons, the ammunition, the electronics. It was all very expensive, but on the other hand. Oh what beuties there were.

One Gundam Wings consits(sp?) of 25 Gundams, a Wing consists(sp?) of five Squads, each sqaud is 5 Gundams.

The Sephyre is what will be the backbone of Dannelands army, capable of doing various tasks and will be most likley seen everywhere in Dannelansd army. Though it will mainly be concentrated on Defence, patroling and such tasks. Though it can very well be seen in offencive millitary campains.

The Electro carpet is a force-field generating "carpet" that is inserted in the middle of the armour. Instead of the classic "force field" that is so often seen in Sci-Fi series, this "force field" is rather an energy field that stops incomming energy. It completly stops the energy that tries to hit the Gundam. The only thing that the energy field has incommon (sp?) with the "force field" is that it can't take to mutch beating.

To avoid the gundam so completly destroy the ground that it walks upon due to its weight, it has small jet-engines on its legs and feets to prevent it from destroying the ground.

It is also equiped with night-vision and thermal (sp?) vision.

The Zaku is a development of the Saphyre, though it has less armour, it is faster and can be mounted with more weapons than the Saphyer

The Zaku is an all around Gundam capable of various tasks from recon to assault.

Just like the Sehpyre it has an electro carpet to provide an energy field and jet engines on its fields and legs.

The Gundam project will continue with additional constructions of Gundams and development of more advanced Gundams.
Also The Kämpfer and The Alpha Gundams shall begin to be produced as soon as we finish the seccond and the third Factory.

Thankyou, thats my intention. Rather than Gundams with big wings and WMDs as weapons, lets have a metal piece with a huge assault-rifle instead.

Sure, with RP-research I will have "cooler" looking gundams, though, as special forces units. and well, there aint many special forces units in the world regardless machine or human.
