Diplomatic Dispatch to Ravenspire
To His Excellency Alaric Morgannan
A visit on the behalf of your country would be most welcome, and while there would doubtless be many things to discuss I must emphasize that Lavenrunz and Ravenspire enjoyed friendly relations before the formation of SATO and that confirmation is indeed the appropriate phrase for the continuation of those relations.
One matter to put before you: there is increasing interest from our scientific community in Ravenspire's activities in space, and this may open new possibilities for the sharing of ideas and commerce.
Respectfully
Aurora von Konigsmark, Foreign Minister
The message acknowledged, it passed to lower functionaries to make the necessary arrangements. Yet they were made efficiently; Lavenrunz had recently become a top priority. This was not an emergency, and it wouldn't do to act with unseemly haste -- but both politics and decorum demanded a reasonably brief timetable, pending further difficulties in Lavenrunz.
Therefore, it was only days later that a diplomatic skimmer flew into Hofburg. It was, like almost all Ravenspire craft, a graceful quicksilver thing of sleek curves and unearthly aspect. But it was neither particularly large nor particularly grand. There was nothing on the exterior that would suggest the presence of perhaps the two most powerful people in Ravenspire: the Minister of State, Raye Forrester, effectively the highest executive of the nation, and the Minister of Intelligence, Sakura Kitsuki, who was also High Queen of her species -- which comprised nearly half Ravenspire's population.
The airfield was a different matter, however. A Lavenrunzian color guard presented arms and a band played "Ad Astra," the anthem of Ravenspire, as the officials began to disembark: four CI/CT agents in full dress first, followed by Forrester, two aides, Kitsuki, Kyria Ellendyl -- the youthful-looking Minister of Ministries, standing in for Morgannan -- and four more agents.
