DISPUTES OVER NATIONIAL BORDERS

Disputes were flaring last night over the border between SteamEarth and Ruskkia.

The border runs along the length of the River Welle which due to flooding cuased by recent heavy rains has shifted its course. As a result of this around 5-6 square miles of land formerly of Ruskkia is now part of SteamEarth. However as part of a protest to this, Ruskkia has torn down a section of telegraph line which runs along the river between Hadley's Point and Stormwell.

However Ruskkia has propposed a new border which runs a mile south of the river and will enable Ruskkia to regain its lost land and also gain the SteamEarth city of Stormwell as well as the military base on Stormwell Island. This we cannot accept and Ruskkia is threatening to invade to gain this goal.

Also Ruskkia has demanded that its northern neighbour, the Constitutional Monarchy of Metzengerstein, hand over troops, supplies and land or else.

Metzengerstein's reply remains to be seem.

There appears to be no nation by this name.

RIOTS IN STORMWELL!

Many riots involing citizens in the Ruskkie communites of the border city Stormwell, in SteamEarth, have recently taken place following similiar riots in Ruskkia.

Fighting broke out between Red Ruskkies and loyalist Ruskkies sometime around 2:13pm, leading to seaveral people being killed or wounded and many more being arrested. Fire fighters are still battling blazes started by both sides at around the same time fighting broke out.

Curfew is now being enforced in Stormwell following recent events whilst the Iron Guard is moving into defensive positions around Stormwell in case Ruskkia tries to invade it. The military base on Stormwell Island has been placed on high alert.

The government of SteamEarth has given the following statement, "No comment!"

TWENTY-FIVE MILES NORTH OF STORMWELL (STOMMBURG TO RUSKKIES)

The military carrier zepplin IFS AEGIS floated alone on sentry duty, awaiting for the arrivial of Ruskkia's aerial invasion force which had orders to take Stormwell by force. It was dusk with the sun slowly sinking to meet the horizon, the sky was turning a dark blue and a couple of stars could just be seen the distant east.In its bays were two complete squadrons of Marquette PR-1 Defender fighter planes which hopefully be able to beat the Balmoral Light Bombers of SteamEarth.

Captain Valery Korsikov took in the dully lit surrounds of the Aegis' bridge, only a few crewmen were on duty at this late hour. Korsikov supected that most of the crew who were off duty would most likely be down in the zep's mess, improving their skills in the various card schools and also quite likely enjoying a bottle or two.

The radio suddenly crackled to life, its operator woke with a start and quickly put his headgear on whilst looking a wee bit sheepish. A voice spoke quickly, "Ruskkie Air Korps Command to Aegis, do you copy? I repeat, do you copy?"

"Aegis here, over."

"Red Ruskkie forces are heading to your location intent on attack, I repeat Red Ruskkie forces moving in for attack."

"Message received. We shall not be beatened, for the Empire!"

"Aye, for the Empire."

Korsikov quickly barked out orders to the sleeply officers who were present on the bridge, "Luanch all fighters and all gunners report to battle stations."

The officers replied with varing tones of "Aye sir!" as they rushed off to their respectial stations at the alarm bell ring out.

MASS COMMIE PROTESTS ACROSS RUSKKIA

Scene in capitial, Vendigrad

Mass commie protest against our fair Duke rupted across much of the nation of Ruskkia yesterday leading to much bloodshed and loss of life.

As rioting broke out in the capitial, Vendigrad, armed militia belonging to the Ruskkie Death Korps opened fire with their gatling guns as the mass of people surged forwards outside the parliment buildings. Futhur riots broke out in Ruskkie communities located in border cities in the surrounding nations, notablely Stommburg or Stormwell to non-Ruskkies.

A spokesperson for the government has stated. "Er............no comment."

The planes of the Red Confederate flew in with engines screaming and guns blazing. The Aegis opened up with gatling turrets as the planes skimmed the skin of her airbag.

The alarm was still ringing as pilots rushed towards their planes ready to be launched from the bays of the carrier zep. One by one they dropped down from the zep's belly and reared up the throttle to full and flew into the fray.

A couple of explosions ripped through the Aegis' airbag as she bore the full force of the attack. Seaveral of her own planes had been destroyed, where as only two of the enemy had been shot down. The sky was quickly becoming choked with metal, smoke and bullets as the battle for the Aegis neared its climax as the zep was strucked by an out of control plane.

As more explosions ripped through her airbag she listed drunkenly to one side, the enemy fled and left her for death. Her planes could do nothing but watch as the carrier zepplin went down in a flaming fireball, all hands with her save for the pilots still airborne.

RUSKKIE CIVIL WAR STARTS!

Civil war has broken out in Ruskkia with loyalist and commie forces fighting each other for control of the nation.

The commie faction known as the Ruskkie Confederate loosely hold some rural areas and parts of the capitial Vendigrad. The Ruskkie Death Korps still remains loyal to the Duke dispite a third of the army going over to the commies.

The Ruskkie Confederate have total control of the fortress city of St Stephensburg close to the border with SteamEarth, thou the government of SteamEarth doesn't seem to be offering any support. It is known that units from the Ruskkie Death Korps have tried storming the city without much success and are now laying seige to the Confederate forces holed up inside.

Ruskkie Death Korps units have crossed the border into SteamEarth and have captured the city of Stormwell/Stommburg (non-Ruskkie/Ruskkie name). SteamEarth Iron Guard units are preparing to storm the city, whilst SteamEarth military zepplins and fighter planes bomb the city in an attempt to lower the morale of Ruskkie troops.

The Ruskkie Death Korps have also invaded Metzengerstein.

Private Hawkins stood sentry was the 'road train' convoys hualed by military traction engines slowly made their way northwards in the darkening twilight. Seaveral motor vechicals, both civilian and military, had passed by this lonely woodland spot in the past hour, all heading southwards since the firing of the artillery up north.

Hawkins wished that had't asked to do sentry duty rather tahn go into battle, he was expecting a warm hut with a stove or least some form of heat. A humming noise made him look up at the night sky above where he could just make out the bodies of a small fleet of military zepplin. He watched him in slince as they opened up with their forward turrets on the city up ahead. The northern sky over the tree tops took on a more reddish colour with a hint of orange as if the whole landscape northwards was on fire.

OOC; No not really since Ruskkia is going to be outnumbered about 3-1 by me, the Ruskkie Confederate and Metzengerstein.

I'm gonna try to keep this as steamtech as possible, hoping a few others from the Iron League will join in.

You can rp as either a soldier of SteamEarth, Ruskkie Confederate, Ruskkia or Metzengerstein.

BTW Metzengerstein has given be promission to use his country.

Also the Ruskkie Confederate is a faction fighting forces still loyal to the Imperialist Duke of Ruskkia.

NEW COMMIE GOVERNMENT IN CHARGE, FORMER RULER STILL KICKING!

In strange events yesterday the red Ruskkie faction, the Ruskkie Confeds, marched on the Parliament of Ruskkia and took control of the government. With the commies now in charge the former ruler, Duke Charles Le Thunder is leading a counter-rebbilion in the chance that he could regain power.

It looks like the Ruskkie Civil War could go on for a while yet as a large number of the Ruskkie armed forces are still loyal to the duke.

Two guards stood armed with rifles outside the enterance to the parliament building, only visible in the weak light of the nearby gaslamp. A small puff of smoke every now and again signalled that at least one of them was enjoying his habit. "Hey do you hear something?"

The smoker threw the dog end he was smoking to the ground and replied, "Yeah as a matter of fact I do, the faint squeaking of tank tracks and the dull rour of an internal combustion engine."

"Damn your hearing's good!"

"Na, just saw some old Mark IV Tanks coming round that corner."

"Ah, I see."

"So?"

"Nows a very good time to run like hell."

"Agreed."

Whilst the two guards legged it down the street a vintage 1912 Rolls Royce pulled up and Duke Charles Le Thunder looked up at his seat of power once more. "General, summon the caretaker to fully dust out the throne room!"
