Tremalkien Kaiser issues challenge to the World (June+Older)
**EDIT**
In a move of stunning scope today, the Kaiser announced his plans for his final challenge to the world. Kaiser Petrovich IV has led Tremalkier for the past 71 years, and his most able son, Ilyanovich has become restless for the mantle of the Kaiser to finally rest upon his shoulders. So, in a completely unanticipated move, the Kaiser issued this edict.
"A few days ago we asked a few select nations whether or not they wished to marry into our family, and in so doing have a future Empress of Tremalkier hail from their nation. These nations did not reply in time. So, Tremalkier offers this challenge to the world. We need a wife for the Heir, but only a wife from a suitable country. That country must be old, powerful, and disciplined enough to rank near the power that is Tremalkier. And so we have come to this decision."
"To be eligible to so much as enter a candidate into the direct competition for the Heir, you must complete this challenge. You must send forth at 100 of your best soldiers. Together they will assemble until every nation that wishes to try for the Heir has its own force within our designated arena, which shall take place in a South Eastern region of our great Blasted Lands on the abandoned surface of Tremalkier. Each complement of 100 will be issued a M-16 and Desert Eagle Pistol for each soldier. Every nation will further receive an extra piece of support weaponry, though these will not be given until directly before the battle begins. Every nation will furthermore receive a final set of maps of the region following the completion of the base camps. Standard maps sets include: elevation maps, topography maps, satellite maps, heat signature maps, etc.* We do this to test your intelligence as well. Each complement is also allowed to bring a full set of engineers to devise a small base for their nation, to be completed within one week by the 100 soldiers."
"After every nation has finished, a battle royal will begin. However, we will not consider the last nation standing as a means for eligibility. Your men must fight, and they must fight hard. We will judge by their skill, leadership, technology, tactics, and other methods, until no man is left standing on the field. We will announce the winners after the battle is over, and will move on from there."
"However, we also cannot allow that any nation try to enter, and then fails to fight, or so much as prepare. Thereby, if you make this commitment, Tremalkier will hold you responsible to honor it. If you don't, Tremalkier will destroy you. To further stop anyone from cheating, Tremalkier has a security policy. If it is determined that your nation has managed impossible feats, that cannot be reasonably explained, we shall order an airstrike upon your forces."
"Tremalkier is making the offer of a life time here. A Tremalkien Empress to be from your nation, and the power and influence thereby gained. Furthermore, Tremalkier is offering as a prize the small colony of Tyronia, perhaps the most ancient of all Tremalkien colonies, and a further reward, which cannot be revealed for security reasons."
(OOC: Okay basically this is a contest as it says for the hand of the Heir. We are looking for the best RPing skills, as well as the most intelligent use of men, making a base, and any other intellectual marvels you may make. The winners, depending upon how many enter will go to the second round. This contest for the Empress will also double as A)A spotlight for the best RPers to go head to head. B) A spotlight for future RPs to be developed. A major lack of good RPers has become an issue here, and we want to see how many of you deserve to be in future RPs with Tremalkier. So the challenge has been issued, are you man enough to accept it?)
*Basically you get what you would need to operate a war effectively.

OOC: I still don't understand why I'd need to set up a base camp in your area. Is this character-based, or nation-based?
(OOC: Its not really my area. This part of Tremalkier is long abandoned, pretty much as the name says Blasted. Its like the wastelands of Utah, rocky, desert like, crap. The reason for the base camp is that there (should) be various strategies employed. Nations attacking, using their base camps to strike at those in the vicinity. I guess I forgot to mention that multiple maps would be given to each nation as well. This should be mainly character driven, due to the smaller number of men allowed, but I guess if it started to go another way I wouldn't interject)

***BREAKING NEWS***
In a recently passed appendage to the "Kaiser's Challenge" a new twist has been thrown in. Occupying the center position of the battle will be a Tremalkien camp. Armed with the standard M-16 and Desert Eagles, this complement will include a full 250 men. Said Tremalkien complement will occupy what shall be known as "The Citadel". A massive rock tower, the Citadel is a relic of the ancient Tremalkien Holds of old. A full fortress has been dug into the 300 odd foot tall tower. Although the armored door formerly in place has been removed, a large wooden gate will still be in place. Any nation that manages to end in position of the Citadel will automatically be given the number one seed in the second round. The Citadel has three floors, each surrounding a central staircase. Said staircase also reaches the top of the tower, where men can be positioned on top of the rock.
As a second twist in the original challenge the Kaiser has also announced that temporary alliances between nations will be allowed during the challenge. The rules of alliance are as follows.
1) No nation shall be allied to more than two other nations at any time
2) All alliances can be announced as null and void at any time by the Kaiser.
3) Alliances can swap information and weaponry.
4) Prisoner exchanges shall not be considered alliances, and will be honored with a temporary truce instead.
5) Any allied assault that gains control of the Citadel then yields a five minute truce, afterwards said alliance is revoked and cannot be renewed.
6) No alliance can ever be renewed after it has been declared null and void.
7) At any time a nation can withdraw from an alliance so long as it no longer has any loaned weaponry from the other side
(OOC2: Note, if enough alliances appear I will just declare them null and void to spice up the fight. Nothing like your ally suddenly shooting you in the back to force the best out of you. At the same time we can't have somebody gathering up support weapons to assault the Citadel then leaving their alliances and using those loaned weapons to attack their "allies" so, thats been dealt with)
The Kaiser has decided to reintroduce this news, as it appears to have been implemented at a sub-optimal time.

Unfortunately at this small level a tournament, I don' think it wise to apply even your reasoning for allowing technology discrepency. If you feel that a twist should be put in, feel free to tell me. Currently I'm seeing how many people will join in the end, as that will determine how much swing time I need to let people get prepared, but I'm hoping to get started in around a week, maybe even earlier, though its all relative.

The Divisions of the Dominion are shocked, truly shocked, at the barbaric practices of Tremalkier.
If the Kaiser feels that it is somehow acceptable to throw away thousands of lives simply to select an "appropriate" consort for his hereditary successor (a system of government which is known to be outmoded and of little success by all soundly governed states), then the Kaiser is clearly in great need of elementary instruction upon the duties of rule.
The Dominion refuses to sacrifice it's troops to the monumentally foolish monarch of Tremalkier, and furthermore condemns the nations who choose to spend the blood of their citizens upon the field of dynasty.

um, well, it all depends on how many nations enter. so far its less than a thousand men that will participate, i think, so it is not a huge loss of life. but most likely there will be a smaller cas. count cause these are elite soldiers(other than CG and Kanuck) that most likely have seen quite a bit of combat.

In the Nef...
Colonel Tranankor looked over his sorry lot of men. Bunch of filth. Half of them wild hill breeds with the other half too crazy to be placed with regular units. All were cutthroats, cheats, murderers, and rapists.
He spat.
But, and a slow smile crept across his face, they were perhaps one of the best desert fighting units that Vrak had to offer. And now he had to deliver the Tremalkien challenge. No need to tell them why though. They were too stupid and most likely wouldn't care. A good fight is all they want.
"Brothers! Hear me! A nation called Tremalkier issued a challenge to see who the best of the best is! The challenge went out around the world and nations are sending their best for this contest. But I say that we are the craziest, nuttiest bunch of them all! We are the best!
He pumped his fist in the air.
"Who's with me?"
A roar answered, not all of it in human speech. Gibberings and howlings accompanied the few words that could be discerned...
"We are the kings of the desert! We will kill them all and feed them to the Lion! Aaaayyoooooo!"

What he said.
At a remote, dusty airbase in the Nef
The last of the desert madmen entered the huge Antanov, loaded with gear. The Colonel, puffing on a smoke, watched him go in and looked around. Another Antanov was being loaded with more gear and a combat platoon of engineers were also undergoing their final checks.
He took out the telegram sent to his base and read the challenge over one more time. With a nasty grin, he stomped out his cigarette and boarded the plane.
And if 100 of these fools died out in some wasteland then I'm sure the King won't shed a tear for this bunch. I don't plan to be one of them though.

This is Capt Mark DePaul of Charlie company of the Sketchian expeditionary forces. While I am uncertain of the issue of "marriage" and heir to the thrones and what not, I have noticed a challenge of military excellence and we wish to participate. I have here, what I consider to be one of the most proficient non-conventional fighting companies around. I say non-conventional because we do not always deal with the same peoples and cultures, and sometimes some considerations must be taken to avoid cultural contamination.
Now unto the challenge. I wish to send Charlie company to this challenge. I have noticed that your limit is 100 soldiers, however, this poses a slight problem. I would prefer to send a the whole unit, which is a self contained fighting force that has everyone that is required for the mission. I noticed that you classify "engineers" as a separate category. The troops of Charlie company have a wide variety of specializations, some of which include engineering (and combat medis, communications, etc). I wish to send the entire company of 144 troops, which including myself as commander.
Very Respectfully,
