Cardinal Harold J. Yenzer, spokesman for the Vatican, gave this statement to the Vatican Senate just moments ago:
"I am greatly saddened to inform you that at 10:55 AM today Pope Gregory IV was shot by a yet unknown assasin. His papacy was immediatly rushed to a hopitol where he was pronounced dead at 11:23 AM. The Vatican Council is in the process of electing a new pope. Until then, cardinal John A. Cullingham will take the pope's seat. That is all"
