Following a tragic accident (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=102787) aboard the Orbital Operations warship Impunitas in which the Supreme Strategic Core Commander of the ITDO was slain, the Santa Barbara-Isla Vista-Montecito people are in mourning today for the loss of an important national hero and icon.

Toby Pratt, aged 53, born in central Santa Barbara, served with distinction in the USSSB armed forces, rising to the rank of General during the Nine Hour War for Isla Vista. Known affectionately by millions as "The General," Toby also had a place of extreme distinction on the PrattCo Conglomerate Board of Directors as head of the Overwatch Program. In his later years, he was responsible for the formation of the Integrated Theater Defense Organization, the next-generation military arm of the PCC, and effectively co-ruled the territorial assets of the Conglomerate along with his brother.

Taking up the reigns of the late General as head of the ITDO, Strategic Core Commander Jerry Cheng said, "He was a good man, a soldier to the end. I cannot fill his shoes, but I accept with a heavy heart his responsibilities, and will do my duty as he expected nothing less."

The General was well known for his cigars, whiskey, and tactical ruthlessness. One of the "Founding Three" Pratts, he shared responsibility for transforming the archaic socialist state of Santa Barbara into a corporate multinational economic and military superpower.

In a rare press statement by Bob Pratt, Honorary Chairman of the PCC BoD, he referred to his brother as "one of two stabilizing influences in my work, and my good friend."

Lord President Heinrid Abadas declared that January 2nd will be an official Day of Mourning, and a national holiday for serious reflection to honor the memory of the larger-than-life character.

The small funeral service will be held in New State City next week, and a select group of dignitaries, friends, comrades, and family will be invited to attend.
