I’ll give into the demands for the rankings list if someone can give me a good enough reason for it. Heck, I gave CH his rankings cause he wouldn’t shut up about it for several days. What’s the matter with you people, why are they so important? In RL you know how good a team is by their name, not their ranking number. You say Brazil, France or Germany and you know that it’s a good team. You say San Marino, Liechtenstein or Scotland and you know it’s a bad team. Give me the reason I’ve overlooked why the numbers are so important please.

If NS football has always operated differently than RL football, how the hell do you expect people to switch mindsets overnight?

I was actually gonna just show the list, even tho I expect more moaning. It's not really the list I'm ranting at, I just spotted a mistake in the tables and had to spend a while fixing them.

I can actually see TnUI's point. It's true that IRL we know that, for instance, Brazil > Scotland > Liechtenstein, for instance. (Was TnUI lumping Scotland in with Liechtenstein a sneaky dig at EB?) Likewise, in NS we know that, for instance, Lemmitania > The Weegies > OBD.

But Ogle is right, we can't switch mindsets overnight. Also, we don't even know which ranking system is being used, though given the fact TnUI is hosting I assume it's his system rather than the Brazillico, Spaam (ELO) or KPB systems. Indeed, for all we know the system could be:

Here's the only reason I can think of, TnUI. Because this is a game, the point of which is to either win, or achieve a higher rank than before. So, posting the ranks gives the players an idea of where they stand NOW, so they will know at the end of WC11 if they improved, stayed the same, or...

There was nothing sneaky about it.
For me, I'd like to see them once at the beginning of each Cup, and then at the end. That way we can compare "Now" to pre-WCX, as well as post WC11 to WC12.

But...you're doing the work so, by my way of thinking, you can do it any way you want. :wink:

The twelve teams will be paired up randomly and will play a two-legged series, home and away. The six winners of each of the play-offs will qualify for the World Cup. To determine a winner in each series the aggregate score of both games will be taken. The team that scores the most goals in each series wins the series and qualifies for the World Cup.

Ex. 1st leg: Lanky Dude 5 Spaam 1; 2nd leg: Spaam 3 Lanky Dude 0.
Lanky Dude would advance to the World Cup as the aggregate of the two legs is Lanky Dude 5 Spaam 4.

In the event that a series is level on goals after the two matches, the first tie-breaker will be the team that has scored the most away goals.

Ex. 1st leg: Lanky Dude 1 Spaam 0; 2nd leg: Spaam 2 Lanky Dude 1
The aggregate of the two matches is 2-2, but Lanky Dude would advance as they scored 1 away goal to Spaam’s 0.

If the aggregate is even and away goals are even, the two-legged series will be decided by a penalty shootout following the conclusion of the second leg.

But, the Minister of Statistics, Other Totally Useless Information, and Band Aids had a handball date with the Minister of Finance and Board Games, who let the cat out of the bag. After helping catch the cat and putting it back in the bag, The Minister of Statistics, Other Totally Useless Information, and Band Aids got his press release out early – well before the Sheriff showed up with the “Cease and Desist” order. World cup organisers have made the following decision, which explains why Kerla received the second automatic qualifying spot and Vozvyshennost the play-off spot from Group 12.

Representatives from TnUI and WW have decreed that ex-nations will not be permitted to participate in World Cup 11.

Pavesia, which finished second in Group 12 is an ex-nation, therefore their qualifying spot fell to the next active nation in the group, in this case Kerla. As a result, a replacement had to be found to take Kerla's spot in the play-off round. The next nation in the group, God Squad, is also an ex-nation, therefore the next active nation Vozvyshennost took the play-off spot in Group 12.

Ahhhh.... makes sense then.

Upon receiving the invitation from the Hosts of World Cup 11 to attend the Draw and Opening Ceremonies, the Minister of Athletics, Oympics and Alcoholic Beverages takes two immediate actions:

1. He spills his beer (who thought he wouldn't?)
2. He hands the invitation to Margaret - who will, as usual, make all the necessary arrangements.

Which, with her usual alacrity, flair, and thoroughness, she does.

Two days later, a charter flight leaves Sten International Airport bound for Warnocks Wizards. In fresh paint on each side of the fuselage it says,

We wonder if that might not cause a little problem when we land. Aboard are the Snub Nose 38 National Football side, the Hooligans, along with their management staff - Manager Ben Dover, Assistant Managers Eileen Dover and Justin Case. Also aboard is the Minister of Athletics, Olympics, and Alcoholic Beverages, accompanied by Margaret and Beverly.

Up front, occupying the First Class Section is - The Guy Currently In Charge Of Stuff For The Borderlands Of Snub Nose 38 - accompanied only by his secretary and security staff.

We think there's someone else aboard, as well, but every time we look where we think he is, he isn't. We asked Margaret about this, she just shrugged, then looked back over her shoulder and hollered, "Jack! Jack Cass! I didn't include you on the flight manifest."

As we wing our way to Warnocks Wizards, we look out the window to our left at the clouds, and notice another jet headed in the same direction. There's something written on it - a logo, or airline name, or something. We borrow Eileen's binoculars and discover that it says.

i've no complaints about any aspect of this tournament. I was expecting Warnock to get to the semis anyway, i wouldnt be surprised if they went on to win it :)

the only thing i can think to highlight is an IC matter: All Warnock's games are being played at the Fortress. This is fair enough, as world cups and european championships are fixed so that if the host nation tops their group, then they'll play all their matches in their home stadium (i.e. England at Wembley in Euro96) however, if the team doesnt finish top of the group, then the venues dont change, and the team doesnt get to play in their chosen stadium.

In fact, South Korea topped their group IIRC, and played their second-round match in Daejeon (the smallest of all the World Cup 2002 stadia) and their quarter-final in Gwangju (the smallest stadium used in that round).

If (heaven forbid) they win their group, they will play their second round match in the Sunshine Arena, Fildi (capacity 82,112) and the quarter-final in the Irafma Lakeside; if they're group runners-up, they'll play their second-round match in the 82,608-seater Kick Arena, Paninara and their quarter-final in the 90,648-seater Archway Stadium, Farela. that must have taken you a helluva long time to work all that out, but here in Audioslavia, we do things more simply :P

The WC12 final (assuming AudioSpaam hosts it, which is like assuming Northern Ireland will win the next world cup :)) will be played in the biggest stadium we have. the two semis will be played in the biggest stadium in Audioslavia for the 'slaves half (cant remember the name of it, but i'll find it somewhere) and the biggest stadium in Spaam for the Spaamanians half. and so on and so on :P

Exactly, I don't think we should be ranking teams by their RPP, but how they did. According to that ranking system, I have not really changed much of any position, yet I have posted more often. I hope I'm higher up on the KPB rankings. :evil:
