Yep thats fine with me.
At least it is right now, never can tell

It looks good so far.

i pick hat. once you have the results, post them OOC, and we will make up an RP To match the results from the hat.
04-01-2004, 11:47
I Had The Idea That The Race Host Should Do The RP, In Line With The Results, So Everyone Gets A Turn.

04-01-2004, 15:46
What about mechanical faliures, crashes etc?
04-01-2004, 17:20
well, you cant really make that happen from a hat pick but you could say that the people that came last etc crashed, in an RP sense
Draconis Nightcrawlis
04-01-2004, 17:29
Could pick number of retirements out of a hat too, say 6 is picked out and so the bottom 6 will be classed as retirements.

For all those wondering about results, we have telegrammed Uniginia II to ask if we can post the results we have formulated using random numbers, grid positions, etc. If anyone would like us to formulate their race results for them, then we send them the results back by telegram, we are quite willing to do so. All we would require are three things - Average lap time, number of laps and rough percentage of retirements (though not necessarily exact - it is random, remember).

Anyway, if we receive no reply, we will post the results we have created on Thursday at around 11:45am forum time, just to keep the championship going. We will also try to work some kind of RP bonus into results as the rounds go on. Hopefully, this will encourage RP-ing in the championship. If at all possible, we would like to use the formula for all races, then TG the results to the hosts, who can then post them, RP them or do whatever they want with them. If anyone has anything to say for this, please feel free to comment.

Well Uniginia II is still not able to log onto NationStates, it seems, but as they wanted this championship to continue, NEWI Cefn Druids has decided to take it upon themselves to take over, for the time being at least, and produce results for this somewhat shortened race of 48 laps.

The next race in the NationStates Indy Racing Championship is...

Race 2: The Nanakapolis Speedway (Nanakaland)

If it could be possible for a Nanakaland representative to contact NEWI Cefn Druids with the following four pieces of information, it would be most helpful.

Number of laps:
Average qualifying lap time:
Rough percentage of retirements*:
Do you want the results to post yourself?: YES/NO

Due to the delay in race 1, qualifying is now due for Monday, while the race will take place on Tuesday.

Thank you.

*Only a rough percentage, as the random number gods do the rest.

MOBUTU SESE SEKO PRESS:

Mobutu's racers didn't ride a great race, but at least none of our racers was forced to give up. Our team-manager said this was only a warm up for our team. and this race showed the world that de Mobutu's are able to get some points here.
in the meanwhile, our technicians fixed some minor problems wich made that our racers lost too much time in too much pit-stops. now that this is fixed, we must be able to score points in the next race in Nanakaland. our racers tried out this circuit before and Tsjombe came very close to the all-time lap-record.

What?

TBF drivers did their country shame their contry in Uginia II as they could not muster up any points between them. The weekend had started dreadfully as sponsers Air Belmore left them after a firey row with the manager of BR leaving the team with little money for the race.

Then the lack of cash showed in Alan Belmore's performance, Alan's mechanic leaving the company without pay. But Tom showed a glimer of hope in the qualifying, struggling up to 8th. But that's where it ended.

Raceday had come and BR had to lay off yet more employees due to lack of funding. But the team still hoped that Thomas Wickersham could muster a few points. And it was looking great, by the 30th lap Tom had got up into the top 5. But then disaster struck, his front wing touched the side of Alfred Flanagan sending Flanagan spinning off the track and destroying his front wing. Despite 2 pit stops Tom had to retire. So all was left to Alan Belmore, who despite some great driving ended up in 29th due to an abysmal setup.
18-01-2004, 20:09
Richard Scott came second in the race. Thomas Williams came in 19th. Mustering 45 points, the Nanakaland Racing League (NRL) is in second overall. Now, as they prepare to race in their home turf, it looks promising. The tickets for watching the race in the Nanakapolis Speedway are already sold out....

We sent them to Nanakaland, but they haven't posted them.

I'm starting to think the idea of sending results out to nations for them to post is a little bit on the flawed side.

If they're not up by 8:00am forum time tomorrow, we will again be forced into posting the results ourselves, which is not how this was meant to work, but looks like it will.

Obviously, this schedule is by no means final, if anyone is unhappy with the time slot allocated for their race, then we can always alter it, but this is the timescale we are going to try to stick to. Also, you do not have to RP every RP day, or even specifically on RP days - they are just as a guide, and a little gap between races so that they do not come immediately one after the other, just to give everyone chance to breathe.

At the same time, given the length and intensity of such a championship, we (NEWI Cefn Druids) will not be able to be at a computer 100% of the time. As a result of this, we would be delighted if anyone would be willing to keep the championship on schedule while we are away. We would be able to produce results beforehand, but would then have to telegram them to another nation for posting, or better still, be able to e-mail the results to someone before the event.

Race 2 results in five hours...

It is a worry, but for those who send no data (as shown at the top of page four), we will have to use some kind of custom race length on those occasions.

Question - There are currently two ex-nations in the championship. Just wondering (especially considering the length of the championship) whether or not it was a good idea to remove them from the championship or to leave them intact? If they were to be removed, would you want them to keep the points won so far, or disqualified from all previous races?

Anyone who wants their say, please free. Just out of interest, NEWI Cefn Druids says get rid completely.

Also, reminders of upcoming races:

Now: The Belmore Family
Next: Esryia (2-3 Feb)
Then: Timway (5-6 Feb)
Then: Draconis Nightcrawlis (8-9 Feb)

Remember, the following details need to be either telegrammed to me or (easier) posted here at any time up until the day before your race meeting is due to start:

Well, no NS actioin from Esryia in the past seven days, so if we receive nothing from them by tomorrow, the race will have to be re-arranged. This would make the next race Timway (Feb 5-6).

Also worth mentioning the ex-nations again. Texasians and Ytterbium 70 have both gone out of existance since signing up, and I wanted to know what we should do with them. Here are our four options we put to you all:

1) Throw them out, and re-allocate points to nations still active - a long process, but if I wasn't willing to go through with it, I wouldn't propose it. No races will take place in either nation, and the spaces can be used as intervals or catch-up time.

2) Throw them out, stop their races, but drivers get to keep points tallies to date.

3) Keep the drivers in the championship, but cancel the races in both nations.

4) Do nothing.

Thank you for your time. Votes to be cast before Draconis Nightcrawlis race day.

Keep the drivers in, it'll be easier that way rather then having to redo the points. Not too sure about the races though, I guess we could keep them.

What about those who still exist but aren't bothering with this thread?

Well looking at the list of contributions made to thread, five nations have added nothing, while only two (no need to say who) seem to be here more frequently.

Our suggestion for those who do not post any information is back to the old 'drawn out of a hat' method, with a way of putting RP Bonuses into it. We'll have the Esryia race in the mid-seson break, so that everything will be finished by the time it is due to.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT

We would like to announce that TIRT, the Indy racing team of Texasians, has been banned from the sport for the rest of the season. The team were found to have illegal parts on their car, and will no longer be in the competition because of it.

Their place will be taken by LM-GM of Lennon Marx. They will be represented by John Marx and Patrick Bothman, who will drive cars 31 and 32 respectively.

Official Statement From LM-GM Management

We wish to state that we had no role in the placement of any banned parts on their cars- any Texans suggesting so are liars. Our small nation is proud to be involved in such a major series as the NSIRC and we will do our utmost to be a regular contributor to the series in any way we can. We thank the series for allowing us to compete.

Without further ado: The new team:

# 31 John Marx
# 32 Patrick Bothman

The car's livery is black with a green leopard on both sidepods, and the flag of the nation on the front of the car.

Marx qualifies second in debut
Draconis Nightcrawlis. Merely hours after their dramatic admittance into the Nastion States Racing League, John Marx, 22 of Cartine Springs showed that the drama was not all for nothing. Marx sped around the tack at incredible speeds to post the second fastest time on the day, made even more amazing by the fact that he and teammate Patrick Bothman were invited originally to the race to accompany Prime Minister Lennon Marx as he tried to lobby the governing body to allow the team to compete in future seasons of the competition. Instead, TIRT were banned following their use of illegal parts on their cars, and the LM-GM team had to call frantically back to Lennon Marx to get the cars out to the track before the deadline for qualifying closed, making it with merely seconds to spare. 18 year old Bothman finished the qulifying session in 14th place in the 30 car field, almost a full second off the pace.

Asked for comment before jumping on a plane to head for the Baptism of Fire Tournament where son Heinz Marx and the Green Leopards have qualified for the semi-finals the PM commented, "Wow, what an amazing achievement, to not even have tested on this track prior to qualifying and to post times in the top half of the grid is utterly amazing. It remains to be seen how we compete over the full race length, but I can say that I am immensely proud to be the Prime minister of this Nation, and we wish luck and gratitude to those running the NSIRC for the rest of the season, I dont imagine our team will figure heavily in either Championship, but with so much of the season yet to come, who knows what will happen." John Marx was asked for his take on what had been a rather bizarre weekend thus far. "Its been an extremely hectic day, and I cant believe how well it's gone, to finish qualifying both cars in the top half is an amazing effort, especially as niether of us had ever run a lap around the track before and much of the credit must go to the pit crew who have been simply awesome. Whether we will be a force in the race is another question, but we look forward to turning heads, we have nothing to lose and all to prove at the moment- and we look forward to it."

Whether the People of Lennon Marx completely accept the new team into an already crowded sporting calendar will be seen when LM hosts its round of the championship later in the season.

Belmore go into top 3 Constructors after Alan Belmore Stuns a silent DN media

Alan Belmore's great run up the leader board in the last Indy Car Race has proved to be decisive placing Belmorian Racing into 3rd in the championship (2 places above the Audioslavians). This is great news for the Belmorians after an awful start with a dreadful financial situation at the beggining of the season. The team is now looking to the next race to build on this strong stand.

With both LM-GM drivers having made the podium and starting in the top 10- the team is rather confident of a successful race- however following what happened for Marx in Esryia we realise anything can happen. The tyre problem that led to Marx's fall down the field was discovered to be also a loss of third gear at the same time- which explains why Marx continued his fall down the field

Yet another amazing effort by the LM-GM drivers, in cars which have been referred by experts as "below par," unfortunately a suspension malfunction on Bothman's car forced his retirement late on in the race, whilst Marx picked up the second consecutive second place finshing for the team, and third straight podium and now moves into 10th place on the Championship, with Bothman in a three way tie for 13th.

After having overtaken Deferran in the previous race as points leader, James Pitcher's win increases his lead in the standings to 34, with Pitcher's teammate Parker continues to lose ground on the top two, now 81 points off the pace, with Belmore of BR 16 further back in fourth place. Marx's next targets on the standings are the second Furray driver- Breck and TRL's Thomas Shadle who lie just one point ahead of the LM-GM driver, who continues his push towards being considered a darkhorse for a possible championship should this this Competition enter a second season. Meanwhile Bothman is tied with Alfred Flannagan of Druids racing and Miles Branson of Marchinegrad.

This latest good performance propels LM-GM further up the leaderboard, now in 6th place with 170 points after only 3 races chasing TRL who remain 25 points ahead, and easing away form Machinegrad racing, now 10 points behind in seventh.

Whilst Bothman exhibited some good speed around the Adenz circut he struggled with cornering, leaving him in tenth place, meanwhile Marx achieved his worst qualifying performance- finishing the session in 22nd and evidently a lot of work still to do before tommorow's race. As you can imagine, the pit crew is nowhere near as confident as theyd been in previous races, but anything can happen in the race proper

Well LM-GM is certainly one of the two or three form teams at the moment- Bothman picks up his second placing in three races, the fourth podium for the team in a row, finishing behind Tomas Wickersham of BR who had been hovering around midtable most of the season. Meanwhile, Marx who had struggled all week managed to pick up a few spots but was in the end well and truly off the pace and finished 18th. Bothman's 45 points propels him to equal sixth NRL's Richard Scott, 20 points behind 5th place Laurent-Desire Sese Soko Racing Team and 10 points ahead of TDRL's KilosKell. Marx falls back 3 places on the championship ladder, still one point behind TRL's Shadle, and now five from Furray's Breck in 11th. Marx leads Tsjombe SSRT by 7 points and three further teams are also within ten points of Marx. The consistant performances by LM-GM see them rise even further this week- now in 5th with 215, leading TRL by 39 and trailing 4th placed SSRT by 65. Meanwhile Furray's Giles Deferran retook the lead in the Drivers Championship from James Pitcher U2IRT and now has a 6 point lead on top, whilst Alan Belmore of BR has now overtaken Pitcher's teammate Parker for third place on the Championship standings, however some 73 points off first place. U2IRT remains heavily in the lead in the Constructors' Championship surely now a lock for that title, with a 95 point lead, which could well be overtaken but would require some rather startling results.

Reasonable efforts in qualifying at ChemindusRing in NEWI Cefn Druids by both LM-GM drivers after both experienced troubles with dialling in their cars for the tricky circuit. Kenneth Breck was quoted after qualifying as saying that "The car had a mind of its own", however team officials are confident in sorting the problems out in time for the race.

Bothman takes maiden victory at ChemindusRing

Young Patrick Bothman had a dream run in the Druid leg of the NSIRC competition, taking the chequred flag by an amazing 34 second margin over the recently re-emerged Thomas Wickersham of BR. He took the lead on lap 64 and held it for the rest of the race- lapping between one and three seconds a lap faster than the rest of the field at the end. This result catapaults Bothman to 5th in the Drivers' Championship, now just 25 points behind fourth placed Scott Parker of U2IRT. This result keeps alive the consecutive podium streak for LM-GM which has lasted since John Marx surprised the field in their first ever race.

Marx, however was not as lucky as Bothman, as he fell out of the race with just 6 laps to go, his car never quite up to speed at any point during the weekend. His failure to once again get points leaves him now 16th, and in the bottom half of the the Championship table, with 95 points, Shadle of TRL still 1 point ahead.

Surprise of the day has to be Trevor Williams of home town Druids racing who used his local knowledge to finish on the podium, and to kickstart a charge towards the top half of the Championsip.

LM-GM contuinues to march on in the team championship leaping to fourth in the table with 265 points, 87 behind 3rd placed BR and 34 ahead of 6th Sese Soko RT

The Daily Druid

INDY SERIES COMES AND GOES WITH LITTLE FUSS
Tom Alli at the ChemindusRing for the Druid Indy Race

The NationStates Indy racing series came to NEWI Cefn Druids at the weekend, but The support shown by the home fans was less than enthusiastic. With their team riding in the middle order of the standings before the race, it seemed to a lot of Druid racing enthusiasts that it was all much ado about nothing. However, luckily, there were enough international fans in attendance to make the race into much more of a spectacle.

As it turned out, the race was a thrilling spectacle, though the outcome was reasonably predictable by recent standards. The season up until the halfway point was dominated by U2IRT of Uniginia II and Tean Furray of Draconis Nightcrawlis. Since then, however, a new challenger has emerged. After the banning of the team from Texasians, LM-GM, the Green Leopards from Lennon Marx were bought in, and seem to have revolutionised the sport, with one of the fastest, if not most reliable, cars on the grid. This time around, it was Patrick Bothman who shot up the field, with a fantastic drive to come from ninth on the grid to finish over half a minute in front of anyone else.

For the home support, there was also a little something to cheer. Trevor Williams, who had earlier qualified a promising fourth on the grid, lived up to the promise, ending up in third place after a close battle with his namesake Thomas of the NRL of Nanakaland, who had followed Bothman through the field until he came to the Druid driver. However, the poor recent run of form of the second Druid driver, Alfred Flanagan, continued. He had qualified a disappointing 24th, and from there he fell back, and was fifty seconds behind the rest of the field when forced to retire after just 26 laps with a broken fuel rod.

However, the poor form of the Druid outfit will hopefully be changing in the coming weeks. Druid Racing have unveiled a partnership with Chemindustries that will aim to get them higher up the grid, and hopefully to earn them a higher championship position. The deal involves Chemindustries paying Druid Racing six million groats in sponsorship, while allowing their recent developments in electronic simulations to be used more frequently by the team, giving them more practice for when it comes down to the real thing on the track. As they head for Audioslavia, will the Druids be able to catch their rivals ahead of them?

Best qulifying job yet for LM-GM
Audioslavia. Round 12 of the NSIRC is underway, with qualifying having taken place, and in a session of very changeable weather, the LM-GM cars timed their runs absolutely perfectly and in doing so managed 1st and 3rd on the grid. Bothman, fresh on the heels of his maiden win in R11, heade the field whilst Marx will start 3rd knowing that he needs a good performance here, in order to avoid being completely overshadowed by his less fancied teammate. Championship leader Gilles Defferan struggled, qulifying 20th, whilst the rest of the top 4 also had trouble with their cars and will start from the 6th row back, this now becoming a very important race for Bothman, who if securing a high finish and those above him not so, could really pull in some points and almost become a top 3 threat come season's end

Bothman makes it two in a row
Audioslavia. Patrick Bothman continued his run of great form, putting in a dominant display at the Audioslavia track, leading from start to finish on a tight track that made passing quite difficult and led to most overtaking manouvers taking place in the pits. The news was less good for Bothman's teammate Marx whose engine blew on the warmup lap and secured a last place finish. Bothman's win places him 3rd on the Driver's Championship, with 220 points, now behind 2nd placed Pitcher by 52 and ahead by 15 over Alan Belmore in 4th. Championship leader Gilles Deferran increased his lead significantly at the top, now 51 points ahead as James Pitcher and Scott Parker finished 24th and 22nd respectively in a horrible day for U2IRT racing, while Belmore finished just out of the points with 16th place. Marx remains 16th place in the standings.

LM gains plenty of ground on U2IRT and BR in particular, and a bit on Team Furray as all had worse than expected races but LM-GM remain in 4th position, now 57 points in the rears of BR, and 35 in front of Druids Racing, who surprised many as Alfred Flannagan finished second, and Trevor Williams continued his recent good form, coming 6th as Druids passed Sese Soko for fourth in the Constructors Championship, the Championship now certainly a two team battle with BR all but eliminated from contention and Team Furray, now 44 points behind, but still running out of time to reduce the deficit.

Bothman will be hoping to continue his great form, and Marx will want to forget about the last few weekends as the Series moves onto Cartine Springs in Lennon Marx, where both drivers have enormous experience and Bothman holds the lap record. Tickets for the 4.8 km (3 mile) track for the 112 lap race are a very affordable 32 Marxian Dollars, or 20 Brownies for those visiting from within the Nationstates or NS2 regions. Foreign visitors should remember that anything more threatening than tweasers will be confiscated on flights into Lennon Marx, and anyone found with guns will be extradited. This column recommends the Cartine Springs Hilton, overlooking the famous Cartine Springs (from the West), the track (on the east) and only 5 miles from the ocean. Those wanting an ocean view should head to Cartine Springs' Sheraton Hotel, or Dave's Quality Inn, a one star motel located just 50 metres from the beach- those wishing to use the ocean are reminded that coral grounds are strictly off limits to boats and fishermen.

We look forward to seeing you all, and the Sheraton has offered to put up all pit crews and their families for the event- should teams not have sponsorship from opposing chains.

Fans disappointed as LM-GM struggle in home event
Cartine Springs.

After the allottment of only one rest day between races in Audioslavia and Lennon Marx, and the rather odd decision to hold qualifying at 3am, home town hero Patrick Bothman, and Marxville's John Marx struggled in the qulifying session today, both having to settle for mid-pack positions on the grid. To make matters worse, the crew of John Marx's will battle to fix the car after the engine blew during final practise- word says the pit crew should just make it, but such is uncertain as yet.

Giles Defferan increased his championship lead after a fine 4th placed finish, narrowly holding off Laurent-Désiré. Kenneth Breck meanwhile failed to finish and rumours circulating around the paddock are saying that he won't be driving for Team Furay next season as he is only 17th in the championship.

Which means that we have a Drivers Champion - step forwards Giles Defferan of Team Furray! However, there's only five points in hte Constructors Championship with only the race in Superschaap to go. Will it be U2IRT, who's driver finished last last time out, or will Team Furray do the double? Well we'll have to wait until next time to find out...

The nation of Draconis Nightcrawlis celebrated today as Giles Defferan won the championship with a round to spare. His race however was disappointing as he could only manage 20th place after starting from pole.

"It's not exactly the finish I wanted but winning the championship is an immense feeling and I can't wait until the next race."
Giles Defferan

Team-mate Kenneth Breck finished in 5th place giving the team the lead in the constructors championship.

"5th wasn't where I wanted to be, we should have won the race. We're 5 points ahead in the constructors so bring on the next race, I want to win it."

OOC: OK, I know this is bad of me, but I'm just going to post the results for the last race, not the qualifying. This isn't to hurry up the ending (though it does), I did create qualifying results, only then my internet was cut off, and now I'm at another computer 300 miles away in a place I call home. As it was late when I created the qualifying results, I thought I'd posted them, but alas, it turns out I haven't. So on this occassion, it's just going to be a licence to make up a bit more than usual.

IC: Well, we're in Superschaap for the final race of the Indy Racing Championship. Giles Defferan is already World Champion, but it's close in the Constructors Championship. So without further ado, let's go over to Superschaap for the race...

5th and 6th in the final race- apologies for not being around the last few weeks- net connection cut out and meant i was unable to check here at all. What an amazing season though for LMGM, who after making their debut near the halfway point of the championship, performed the best of all teams in the period they were active (from point of entry on) and led to Bothman taking 3rd place in the Drivers Championship quite comfortably in the end, whilst John Marx finished in the top 10. A third place finish in the Constructors Cahmpionship is more than we ever could have hoped for- and we look forward to a possible 2nd season.
