Could you please specify what blueprints and background technical data are available for purchase, to aid us in asessment of our bid?

Specifically, the blueprint for the Type II ultrasonic shock wand. The Type II is a heavy-duty three-setting model; the three settings range from narrow-arc to wide-arc. The Type II is non-lethal only, but for those interested in such things (although we do not advocate such use of these weapons) the modifications required to produce lethal ultrasonic weapons are very slight indeed.

The Type II is effective at up to five hundred yards, and is ideal for crowd control situations - such as controlling riots and the like. Non-lethal arms are best deployed against 'moralistic' states utilizing entirely lethal armaments, particuarly in urban environments.

NOTE:- Ultrasonic weapons are not effective against Uruk-variant orcs; they do not cause unconsciousness, but instead cause intense cranial pain or deafness. Furthermore, US weapons can cause temporary tri-sense-blindness (auditory, olfactory, taste).

- Hmmm... those weapons could be usefull to calm those foreign miners in our asteroid colonies.

- Yes, they would. But guards prefer using their clubs...

- The guards will obey as we say.

- Point. So, do we get them?

- Why not, don't want the 'issues' at Station #12 to repeat themselves.

- You mean rioters blowing up the armory?

- Yes, among others.

- Oh...

- They are bidding 350 M USD.

- Wow, they must too have 'issues' with foreign workers...

- I don't understand why do they get so angry anyway...

- Maybe because we take them from poor countries where people don't give a dam and hire them without contracts?

- Point...

VerTech hereby increases its bid to an equivalent of 500 M USD.

- Wasn't that a bit excessive?

- Hey, its New Year party, my fingers lip off the keyboard.

- They really want those weapons.

- They really got issues.

- I am really late to the party.

- Me too.

- 1 billion?

- Bah, go ahead.

VerTech hereby places a bid of 1 Billion USD on those blueprints.

- Lets hope they don't drink all the vodka while we're bidding.

- They won't dare, I'm the CEO.

Sketch finds the offered bids to be much too high for the item on hand and thusly offers a more reasonable bid 350 million (USD) for the conceptual rights to produce ultrasonic based weapon designs (noting that these weapons will be very similar, but not identical, to existning EOTED ultrasonic device designs). Also note that we do not care who else happenes to purchase these designs, we are not looking for exclusive rights.

Depending on which bids are acceptable:

Sketch level (much more preferred): 355 million imperial pounds

Ares Industries: 12.5 billion imperial pounds

Before announcing the winning bid, we desire a conversion from 'imperial pounds' into the 'bidding currency' of choice, US$. Although a defunct form of currency, it is somewhat traditional to convert into this near-mythical value system: please make the conversion.

We will then announce the winning bid, and, once payment is recieved by the Imperial Treasury, we will ship the blueprints via encrypted communication channels.

One Imperial Pounds is equivalent to 1.793 antiquated United States Dollar.

OOC: I just usually use the pound sterling/dollar exchange rate. Unless it just really bottoms out......which is something of a joke.

The Socialist Republic of Xanthal could develop these weapons on their own, but this is cheaper. Behold our immense military budget! $100,000,000,000!
Valinon
03-01-2004, 19:52
And my bid from earlier against such massive flinging of cash still holds. Ma-tek I will defer to you, but if you choose to accept Xanthal's bid I can play his game. After all, the United Guilds of Valinon includes almost all of the major banking federations and enough corporate money to give the Xanthal government, whatever it maybe, a run for its money. And if necessary, I am sure His Majesty's Government will step in.
Xanthal
03-01-2004, 20:04
We'll say right now that if we can't get it for $100 billion or less we won't bother. After that point it will be cheaper to simply develop the same technology on our own.
Sketch

completely ooc: 100 billion??? You can develope your own system easily for less than a fraction of 1% of that! Anything over a few 100 mil is pushing it, and only worth it if your expecting massive profits. But whatever......this is Ma-tek's thread so I'll duck out now.......

Oh yeah....so what happened to economic slump from building your super ships? I remember some bit about things being tight while your building.....

We are proud to announce that the winning bid is...

Valinon's Nova Technologies with a bid of Rlh7.2billion (US$17.3billion, Imperial £10billion)!

The blueprints will be forwarded once payment is recieved. The Xanthalian bid was rejected following a credit check with the International Credit Scoring Agency.
