Santo Hermando to establish "Jungle divisions".

30-12-2003, 06:02
The military headquarters of the peoples republic of Santo Hermando have issued a statement to the press concerning the next two steps in the national army reforms.

The secondary part of the reforms calls for the "peoples national guard" to be formed under a new guerilla-warfare orientated training method to be used in dense jungle and forest area combat and guerilla/counter-guerilla warfare.

The peoples national guard is a large organization mainly closest to the equivalent of a militia called in action over harder times of conflict, the regular army is slightly smaller than the peoples national guard in Santo Hermando.

"Guerilla warfare is a powerful tactic, therefore Santo Hermando must reform the peoples national guard to meet up with the ever rising standards" - commented comrade colonel Herman Guzman from the peoples national guards information division.

"We will reform the weaponery of the national guard as well, they will receive the best possible equipment and weapons that we can currently provide" - stated comrade colonel Herman Guzman when asked about the somewhat low standards of training that the peoples national guard have given over the years.

Despite the fact, that president Hector Westaz has already ratified the new training agenda for the peoples national guard, even some of Westaz's own politicians have questioned this rather clumsy move to commit the already small funds to the benefit of "second in line troops" instead of the regular army.

The most modern fighting force of the peoples republic of Santo Hermando is currently the legendary Otto Schillinger division (motorized and mechanized infantry, along with armored sections), that would in a possible conflict be the first line of defence for Santo Hermando or the vanguard for a possible offensive.

It seems that the politicians (and mainly president Westaz) are unwilling to commit funds to the Otto Schillinger division's upgrades, but are rather interested of creating a "special forces outfit" out of a national guard organization.
