The United Kingdom of The Arterian River is a massive, devout nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 1.004 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The small government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Religion & Spirituality, and Law & Order. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Pizza Delivery.

Over-inflated fears of a "Y1" bug have turned humble IT workers into millionaires, citizens are frequently held up at gunpoint by their local pizza delivery boys, psychological disorders are a taboo subject, and the government regularly hires contractors to construct high rise apartments. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is pervasive. The Arterian River's national animal is the bee-ellicott, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the fourth triyyen.

The Arterian River is ranked 61st in the region and 36,477th in the world for Largest Trout Fishing Sector.

Now, the rules.

If you want this country, apply in this thread. Post a description of your country (NOT the UN report), why you deserve this country, what you will do with it, and an example of an RP of yours.

I will rate you on your country and your post, and give you a rating. Whoever has the highest rating by the Fifteenth of January, 2004, wins the country. After that we will have a takeover RP.

Do NOT offer money. Offering money will automatically disqualify you.
Apply with your largest nation. This nation will not be given to any nation with a population above 500 million, and rating penalties will be given to nations with a population of above 200 million. This applies when you apply, not when you recieve the nation. I will be checking with the mods to see if you are applying with your largest nation. If you don't, you are disqualified.
To aid the takeover RP, it's best to be a Kingdom/Queendom/something like that. You will recieve a rating bonus if you are.
I'm pretty right wing; so liberals are unlikely to recieve the nation.

While I don't think those just joining the game should suddenly get a nation with a billion+ population, considering they never had the chance to learn how this game operates, I still respect your right to keep your nation from dying and am glad that this was at least not an auction (although I've participated in those for fun before...never won though :cry: ).

And Foe Hammer, before making assumptions as to the reason behind my post, perhaps you should wait for me to make it...

I don't think you'll find a nation under 200 million that wouldn't use a Billion-pop nation to warmonger, godmod and declare war on the UN.

Bah! Nation givaways are lame, but not nearly as lame as nation 'auctions.' By this I mean that nation givaways suffer from a very bad limp while nation 'auctions' would have to wobble around on bloody stumps were said stumps not paralized.

So a player goes out of his way to find a way to keep a nation that he/she has created and raised, but no longer wishes to play and the best ya'll can come up with is attemptes to cut him down over doing something that requires time and effort.
It would seem that you (those casting insults) have nothing better to do than to jump on some poor person who is trying to help someone out and perserve a nation that they have worked on.
I have to fall back on the old saying, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything (and yes I do see the irony in my ending this post with that quote.).

I would try out, but I have too large of a population with the Resurrected Lands of Nanakaland and I have a nation with an even larger population.

My country is a small colony in the Asteroid Belt. The planetoid itself does not have much importance, but it is the site of a gate to my Empire, which I have been single-player RPing (daydreams) for a few years. We take pride in our few accomplishments, and dream one day of being a real power in the Empire... A billion extra people would do just that.

I apply. ive only done one rp, and that was pretty succesful. this is not my largest nation, but my largest one is 1.9 bil., so thats out.(keep reading)

I will not use the nation in any connection whatsoever to The Holy Saints, but only this one. it will be a fantasy rp nation, if i get it, thats elven.

I will not warmonger, seeing as i believe that as ludicris(sp??) act, same with godmodding. i will basically start the nation anew, so there will be no remnants from old other than the pop.

The River Anduin is a fairly peaceful fantasy based nation that is situated on the Anduin river in middle earth. the nation is 78% elf, 17.5% human, and 4.5% Dwarven. It has only had one war, which was with a large amount of Goblins and orcs wishing to eliminate a nuisance(or so it is thought). The populace supports the current administration which is a council of the various former leaders of the states that make up the nation, and in the future, the nation seeks to be an influential force for reforms, etc.

We are a peaceful nation struggling to equalize libaral social policies with a faltering economy. We have a small population of 20 million. We are not looking for an addition to an empire. Nor are we looking to dominate any other peoples.

The Paramount Chief, Chief of Chiefs, Blessed One of the Gods, Chief Proud Bear has authorized me to make an offer for this nation. We would bring it into the ICTC and allow it to steer it's own path. If you look at the other nations, Tribal Godz and Tribalizm, you will realize that we respect that course that a nation is supposed to take.

We thank you for the opportunity to encounter new cultures and expand the ICTC. If nothing else, it was not an opportunity wasted.

Hi, I hail from Galts Gulch Lair of Ayn Rand. I deserve this nation for no reason, as does no one else, but I do want it. I will detail why I want it below, and why I am the best choice to give it too.

#1 I am way to the right, as my name shows, "The Anti-Commi Clan", I am a republican, if not further to the right. I believe purely in low taxes, and corporate freedoms. I hold freedom of speech and others like it to the highest, even letting Nazi's hold rallies in my country, despite my being a Jew, and hating Nazis.

#2 This could help my region come to prominence as a top right wing land. I also would not use the nation for the UN, as a UN delegate already, I like to be able to experience the whole of Nation States by really growing that nation. However, don't think I would neglect your nation either, I would pay it total attention, and help it grow too.

#3 This nation is very small, only 12 mil. and I could use a nation with 1 bil. + to help gain prominence.

#4 The dominion of... which is the preface of my nation is very similar to kingdom, and therefore fits that description you wrote.

#5 being so new, I have not RP'ed yet, but if I get this nation, the takeover would be a good starting point. I also wouldn't use that nation for RP, only my current one, until much later. This is for the same reason stated above; NS experience.

#6 I won't warmonger with it (especially as I won't even use it till later) and I won't godmod.

(I'm not sure if I was that nation he was thinking of or not, but I'm more than willing to give him a referance. I watched him participate in the Imperialist discussion thread - which was in character - and was impressed with his performance. I think right now T.G. may be a bit blunt in his presentation, but well meaning and likely to develop into a valuable member of the Nation States community.)

Wow a decent nation is been given away. Most I see are ones with totally messed up everything.

Now we are interested in this one. We'll put some more law and order into it. It's strangely a bit like ours and similar age and population. I hope you don't mind Catholics taking over (see flag).

No. I'm just saying taking someone else's nation is stupid. Why do you need theirs? Just use your own. Sure, you can talk all great and whatnot but when it comes down to it, you'll get greedy, especially when you have a billion people. Let theirs die, all empires do.

What can you do with a billion nation besides RP? I already told you I won't. The Anti-Commi Clan is my main nation, and it will stay that way. With the billion pop, I would maintain it, keep it to its vision, and if the current owner has any requests, I'll be damned if I won't follow them.

Anti Commi, I'd actually like for you to RP with it, if you get it that is. However I'm not putting restrictions on that.
