The Way of the Samauri

28-12-2003, 21:08
The Empire wishes to extend it's tendrils of friendship by offering to train any nation's forces in the way of the samauri. We will be forfeiting all projectile arms (except the traditional arrow, bolt, lance, spear and rock) and instead resorting to the pure warfare teachings of the sword and arrow. This may result in a severe blow to the number of victories we shall see, but at least we shall die honourably. Join us in this. This, in no way, is to compete with the mercenary teachings and offerings of any other nations (i forget their names) so dont take offence. Come, let us begin a new era where the codes oof honour, valour and courage reign upon our lands!

train my penguins... I can offer you 1 billion if you do so... I'm being serious

The Empire recognises your requests and is dispatching envoys to begin training. Although, we as a nation plead of you to think about the implications and inherent dangers in creating armies of Samauri Pengai before you begin. These will be highly disciplined, loyal and feathered troops, going into death at your beckon. But no research has been undertaken to discover how the code would affect a penguin. Let us hope that this venture will prove fruitful and not fatal. May God forgive man and penguin for their sins.

"Honor is obselete. Today, the sword and bow are relics with no proper place on the battlefield. The primary goal of war is to kill as many people or certain persons as quickly and efficiently as possible to attain further goals. We'll be glad to show you where honor belongs should you meet us in battle. We'll bury it with your bullet ridden corpses.

We have dreamed of this since our nation has first began, we are willing to take any risks. We have treated our feathered friends with the most honor and respect.

Oh yes! How could i forget? But remember, a rocket fits more aptly upon leathery skin than the hilt of a sword.

That's not the point, ours is moral victory. Plus we were hoping other countries would adopt our proposal and therefore resort to a time of warfare where the more skilled and tactile armies won the field instead of whomever holds the fastest trigger or largest rockets. Let warfare become pure again.

Worry not, lightsabers will be used over time as a replacement for the katana, but only for the elite of the warriors, the knight errants and and the worthy.

"Look buddy, moral warfare is an oxymoron. There is nothing to gain morally when you're killing someone, and doing it with a sword instead of a bullet doesn't make it more so. There is nothing glorious or pure about dying and fighting by the sword. Oh, and if you think there's no tactics and modern warfare, tell that to the guys who fought World War II. Tell that to the guy who has to take a hill under fire from automatic weaponry and artillery through a mined area."

That's an interesting point. What we are merely trying to achieve is a levelling of the battlefield. There is a certain eloquence to taking your foe apart face to face, be it with cold steel or with your hands. It promotes a sense of one on one on the battefield, of truly being in touch with life and your foe. "How much of yourself can you know if you've never been in a fight?". We merely seek honour in a world that has none.

There is nothing eloquent and honorable about war with any weapons. And don't tell me I've never been in a fight, I got here from Private and 4 wars.
