The Search for the Talisman.

They had all gathered with peace on Mars gained, now they watched the newest fleet of Tor Yvresse, the final stages of the testing had been finalised. The Sleek forms of the Vaul Fleet began to edge towards the Webgate and to the stars. Onboard the Flagship, Vaul's Eye's (A misname Vaul was blind, but then this hunt was going almost blind into the far reaches of the galaxy.) It's Admiral sat in silence as alla round him his crew went to work, they had a long journey ahead of them. A Journey and a mission from which they might never return, yet they where proud.

From aboard the Craftworld, the Council sat before a channel was opened to the entire fleet.
'You carry the hopes of Tor Yvresse, of all the Kionash, you go into the dark places, and into the night, your search is all that may save us. The Talismans of Vaul MUST be found, the Yngir grow in strength and we cannot match their power. Yet in the ancient past the Old Ones created hope, and it is from this hope that we shall find salvation. Go my people, and return to us with the flame of our hope burning in your eyes.'

Then the fleet slipped into the Webgate and beyond, to the stars, and to whatever fate awaited them. The council went back to it's work, this Vaul's Fleet would not be the last, but it would be awhile before another fleet could be created to aid them in their hunt. For now the council had other needs to address, an ever increasing list of needs, but always in their minds was this war. The war that had raged from before their race was created, a war that was as much a Chess game as anything else. Sometimes it was a Hot war, often through a cold war, for the council knew it could not fight the Yngir and their minions openly and win, yet the Yngir knew they could not afford such a war, for although they would win, it would hurt them.

Light streamed in through ornate stained windows, artificial, of course, the room was far from real sunlight. The throne room of Mephet'ran was, subdued, although the level of expense in decoration and the architecture was enough to make most people weep, there was no attention paid to it by its occupants. Hanging in the air, in an artificial cloud of darkness, was a vast hologram of the galaxy, ten meters across. Every star was represented, each in their current positions and configurations.

"If the eldar are still on the construction schedule, their hunting fleet should have launched at last," said one of the ancient star creatures, enthroned there, "and it presents us with an opportunity. Though we do not have the exact location, we can predict with a degree of reliability where they will search for them."

"You wish them destroyed?" asked the C'tan whose image was death.

"Not at first," replied Mephet'ran, "This," the hologram showed a sphere, "is where the talismen truly are, and this," it displayed another, almost on the far side of the galaxy, "is where I intend to make the eldar think they are."

One of the stars glowed to an almost intolerable degree, "This system is on the eldar search list. We do not wish them to know that we have this list, and therefore, I intend to make it appear as a random encounter - the eldar will annihilate our forces, which will be woefully inadequate - two shrouds. Hopefully the Yvressi believe that we are searching for the talismen, and will then suspect that they are in that area, and focus their efforts there."

Nope, I havn't read SW in a while, barring Fanfiction and the comics, and I've never read Paradise snare... why?

OOC: Are you going to launch yourself against the Ctan throat?. Do you need any help?. :D
Tor Yvresse

OOC Nah Aelosia, not against the throat, we are simply searching for hope. A weapon of last resort... but help in the hunt would be welcome... Still I'd have to have a way to approach you, I'll think on it OOCly and get back to you. Now if only Kopinski wasn't visiting.

OOC: You know Aelosia, you really don't need to worry about the C'tan, we like elves far more than most other creatures. Only the eldar are on the C'tan hitlist, and only because their religion demands that they fight us.

OOC:

Yes, I know. I must do my homework about the Necrons. I don't know much about them, but "someone" told me that they were spacefaring undead and that they hate the eldar. And Tor, I'll wait for your response. :D

OOC: The necrons hate pretty much everything organic, but as they have no free will, they do what they're ordered to, by the C'tan, thier 'gods.' The C'tan want the eldar dead because the eldar were created by an extinct species called The Old Ones to fight the necrons and C'tan. As elves weren't, they have no reason to want elves dead.

OOC: So, the Ctan gods are the Deceiver and the Reaper as far as I know. Kopinski is one of them, no?. Please correct me if I'm wrong and take me out of my ignorance...

There's actually four of them, the Deceiver, (Though he's known to the eldar as 'The Jackal God') this is Kopinski. There's also the Nightbringer, who's likes inflicting genocide and so forth, the Outsider, who's utterly bonkers, and the Void-Dragon, who is pretty much sane and is rather interested in technology (and exterminating the Eldar, in his spare time, as you do)

Currently in NS all but the Outsider are active, and the current leader is the Deceiver, AKA Mephet'ran.

The first of the top Twenty systems, empty space as the fleet left the Immaterium. (having exited the Web sometime ago, and proceded the rest of the way through the Immaterium.) Still if a Talisman was here it would be hidden, not out in the open, and so from two of the Carrier sized vessels shapes began to leave. This fleet, unlike many of the Kionash standard fleets contained 6 Carriers but less of the smaller vessels. Now the Exploration craft of the fleet raced to work.

Planets, Asteroid feilds anything and anything that might be a potential hiding place for the Talisman was searched, it would take a few hours, but it eventually ended a blank. Not unexpected although for a few of the crew it was still impossible to hide a feeling of disappointment.

The fleet left once more for the next system. One down a few Tens of Thousends still to go.

The Void-Dragon practically curled up on its pedestal, idly watching construction drones work in the ‘factory floor’ below. His last meal had been some time ago, and it was irritable. Flickering holograms orbiting a central point showed the various projects he had an interest in, an attack on Taurenor – and the loss of one of their ships no less! Intolerable! – The dark eldar would need to be punished for their impudence! And there was some evidence of Eldar activity from the Kionash once again picking up.

The creature hissed idly. It couldn’t be long before the Vaul – Curse him! – fleet issued forth again, that he looked forward to. The Dragon would savour the death of the fleet that bore the name of his hated enemy. The shroud class light-cruisers Lesser Vigilance of Death and Omniscient were already discounted from other operations. They lurked there, waiting patiently.

Soon. Soon the Dragon would have his due.

Another Sector another dead end, after the excitment of the War, this duty was a little slower, and most of the crew where a strange mix of incredably bored and at the same time hopeful. Maybe in this jump they would stumble upon a clue, something anything.

And so it went jump after jump, maybe next time...
'Prepare for the next system, mark this sector off as a dead end and move to system, X745 on my Mark... Mark'

As the vessels slipped back into the Immaterium a collective sigh went up, One down only a Couple of Thousends left to go.

((OOC: Hope you don't mind))

[System Z745]

The Omniscient watched the Eldar ships emerge from the warp with what would, for a human, be a grin of satisfaction. It signaled its compatriot, hiding in another part of the Kuiper belt. Then it began to bring its energy core to full power, twenty five zettawatts. The mind substrated into its living metal form began - confident that it had already backed itself up before this engagement which was sure to destroy it and its companion ship. It activated the power nodes that govenered the flow to its faster than light drive, and with a double pulse of energy, one to acellerate it and one to decellerate it again.

With a slight flicker of motion, the two ships appeared in a low orbit of the system's Star, bathed in harmless radiation.

[Taeonash Shipyards]

Many of the ships of the Yngir were prepared here, a secret base around a hot young blue star deep in a nameless nebula. With a flicker of immaterium-resonance the Mechanisms of the Gods Decellerated. The Void-Dragon had come here for one purpouse, to oversee the testing of a little project. Doubtless the Yvressi would be disgusted - even more than they usually were - with Archon Rath if they had learnt that he'd given the Yngir the shadowfield technology used by the Dark Eldar.

This is where it had been tested, and today, the latest little project had been finished. twelve long projector spindles from a large power core, surrounded by some engines to move it. The Dragon reclined in its chair, "Begin the test,"

The spikes shimmered for a moment, and distorted. A curtain of sensor jamming covered the entire area, and dozens of shaped shadowfields sprung up around the thing - making a rough image of one of the Vaul Talismen. Obviously not enough to hold up to close scrutiny, but when the Eldar saw it, they'd never get close enough.

Everything was going to plan.

'Admiral system appears...' The boredom was rampent, system after system of checks, no matter how importent the mission had taken it's toil and so a second or more passed before the Bridge crews of the fleet realised what they had stumbled across.
'Admiral we have two Necrontyr vessels in orbit with the Star, repeat Two Necrontyr Vessels.'
'Strange, Launch all Craft and prepare to engage, whatever they are here for I intend to ensure they fail.' The general consensus was of course that the Yngir where searching for the same thing the Kionash where, if for somewhat different purposes. If that was indeed the case then this region of space may be more vital to the Kionash than they initially thought.

'Pack Alpha engage the First Necrontyr vessel, Pack Beta, the second, Carriers to engage the Lead vessel in support of the Pickets, I Want to see the complete destruction of these vessels, FOR KHAINE.'

The Lesser Vigilance of Death turned, unsurprised by the eldar vessels advancing on it. It accelerated toward them, taking damage from the longer ranged weapons of the enemy as the pulsar lances hammered into it, repeated discharges of teratons of explosive force vaporising even the seemingly impregnable armour it was covered in. The ship, with a single discharge of its own weapons in retaliation, ceased to exist in a bright blue conflagration of exotic energies pouring from its shattered ruin in the moments before it vaporised.

The Omniscient however took a little longer to be destroyed, hounded by the eldar fighters, like wasps they pursued it, stinging it repeatedly, as it dived into the chromosphere of the star, knowing that the radiation here would pose problems for the eldar sensors. Eventually however, the pulsar lances of the eldar ships claimed it too, hammering into it and severing it from its main drive systems, the ship exploded in an immense wave of destruction.
