First Thoughts: [ http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=106516 ]

Ok, so originally I thought about a civil war. Then I went away for a few days thanks to Christmas. I decided that civil wars have been done in NS many times....some not too good...some excellent. So what could I do to make mine more interesting? Simple: I make it a 3-way civil war.

The Sides

The Empire/NiMBUS

Emperor Nemerov, supporting the evil NiMBUS Biotechnologies without knowing the true nature of their experiments (Shown in a current RP and a current story). They fight with Phoenix (high-tech special forces), the Imperial Guard, and NiMBUS's personal military.

The Military

High General James Shockey, Sky Marshall Michael Zephyr, and General Drake Grey lead the Mobile Infantry, Space Fleet, and Marines in a coup against the government.

The Rebels

The Rebels, led by Eric Vinzer and Alexei Ivanova (my two main characters characters in the RP and the Story) along with others, are the only ones not in NiMBUS who know of the happenings, experiments, and genocide. They fight the Government and NiMBUS but also worry about the military's tactics, fearing more terrors from NiMBUS.

The RP Mentioned: Realm of the Risen (Survival Horror RP) (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2349150#2349150)

The Story Mentioned: Engulfing Creation in Due Time (Survival Horror Story) (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2268229)

So...what does everyone think of it? Remember two things:

1. No outside source knows of NiMBUS's horrible experiments, creations, and weapons
2. This won't happen for a while. The above threads HAVE to finish, along with probably another setting up the military's coup.

OOC: Wait a minute... the Military fights for itself? Not obeying the will of the Emperor?

OOC: Like I somewhat noted...it would take another RP probably to fully explain...

Everyone supports the rebels...post why! Don't just say "Uh...I don't like your empire" either.

Steel, I must note that many of the greatest Civil War threads also involved a foreign power behind the scenes. Perhaps having a nation spurring on, and propping up the weakest side, would work. This is standard Tremalkien policy you know...

Argh! :o
So many threads to keep track off, my own little R triple D situation to prepare and most of all - New Year busy days...

Oh well... guess I'll have to read those... *clicks*... RP's... yeah...

Oh, and get Nemerov's ass to Vigvar ASAP, or notify me if you're not coming :x

Got to go for the underdogs in the mess. So thats why I voted for the rebels.

Well, initially since we wouldn't know of the horrible experiments we’d naturally support the already established government. When and/or if the rebels managed to get word out of the deeds being conducted by NiMBUS, we would most likely pull out our forces, should any be involved.

The Republic of Tiburon acknowledges its complete support of the rebels.

 While I hope you're joking....I feel it good to point out that you're not dealing with any old nation here. Not to brag...but the Empire is big, corrupt, and evil at its core. Shit will hit the fan...expecially when NiMBUS gets mad. Nations may not want to get involved too easily or rapidly.

I'd support the Military personally.

Rebels... against oppressive regimes. Not advanced enough though! SB would kick New Genoese ass.

You may be quite large, indeed, but... I'm larger. By two months. Big difference there.

I didn't mean direct military force.
28-12-2003, 05:34
Well for me, it is... I'm *not* using Mobile Suits...

Actually, I haven't sent any Mobile Suits out to SB. I'm just privately rooting for the rebels here, in the comfort of Tiburon City...

9-2-1. What gave it away?
Sketch
28-12-2003, 06:07
After much thought, I decided that I would end up supporting the military. But that is assuming that my government actually found out about the NIMBUS involvement at the higher echlons of the government. Sketch would much rather support the current government/emporer, however, but would be unable to overlook the fact that the current institution was in support of creating such abominations. If such facts were to remain hidden, the the military can count on Sketch supporting Emporer Nemerov. What a thin line we walk

Angelus would support the Empire, the government, and would be incredibly interested in the goings-on within NiMBUS.

In fact, Angelus would offer full support in pretty much any area, and I would be quite interested in being as envolved as I possibly can be. Send me a TG, and we'll chat.

(angel)

edit:

Angelus would only work in tandem with SB and/or other Triumvirate forces. Their goals would be their own, and would remain hidden from any save those who need to know. They would also require an SB representative to be a liason between the Empire and the Archailect.

Note, this would not be a bid to "take over" SB, but rather to insure that the power that Angelus supports would establish even closer ties to them.

Cool! And it would expand on the Realm of the Risen, a RP I'm in! We were going to support the government, but we might support the rebels since it involves the Realm of the Risen.

Though My country couldn't really support anyone at the current but I would say fi they could..

Rebels, and it was fricking hard to decide as the Military would be a fun twist, but then as you said with NimBus, the Military might be with Nimbus as Nimbus could be against the current government over a choice.. Sides the rebels are the underdogs and that has a certain appeal.

Great idea. My suport would go to the Empire. Cspallans have never liked the idea of rebels and coups.
Thelas

Well, Thelas would probably support the millitary, giving weapons, supplies, staging areas, and maybe even fire support at first.

Later, Thelas would probably send in troops and star fleets.

Steel. I pledge my support to the military (because that's where Kanosis has the most connections). I will come out oof retirement for this war. However even if they give military support to the military they will strive to create peace between the military and the emporer.

(which side will Warheit be on?)

hmmm...

Here is one idea, what if I supported the military, in order to establish a GDODAD freindly dictatorship. Of course the revolutionary knights would be involved, in training and terrorist activities

Or I would support the rebels (depending on what their ideals are). They would most likely be the guerilla forces, so if i support them hte revolutionary knights would be involved.

Either way, If i decide to get involved, I would not provide direct military aid. I would ship arms supplies to either side, and the Revolutionary Knights would be involved in their terrorist activites (yea I can use them maybe!)

EDIT: Post #6800

If you remember, General Theallas has learned about all the genetic experiments (the Warheit saga), and also, Thelas wants to try and get an alliance against Morgoth with the new government. And the troop tables are just thinking about how much time it would take to get forces ready for action.
31-12-2003, 19:23
Let's hope this civil war isn't leaning toward any side. I've got an idea for Nanakaland support. Nanakaland's army will basically keep a distance from the actual battles, but join in on any random side when we feel like it.

I was also thinking of having this incite rebellion on one of my colonies (one I have wanted to do a civil war thing with for a while anyway.) Give my government two things to worry about. And worry they will, if for no other reason then a rouge military so close to our space is quite unsettling.

Actually not quite...

You (Theallas) learned of the Aural project - named after the ancient race. That company was government sponsored, and NiMBUS was doing their projects in secret. You can learn more in the notes on page 2 of this story. (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2268229)

Especially since it's the one contracted to protect you, the majority leader of the OSA.

Will be cheering for the Empire, seeing what they did to the GDODAD. That's about as far as my involvement should go. Might send some cheerleaders to the battlefront or something...

Just kidding by the way. Bah...cheerleaders were skanks in my school. The "popular" girls were on the basketball team. 8)

I'm not sure if Warheit will fight. That would seem out of place...

However if he did...probably the rebels.
