Foe Hammer
28-12-2003, 02:52
Baal IV, an unihabited planet in the Nordlund System, the official home of Foe Hammer, is hereby up for auction. Money is needed to increase the defenses of the Nordlund system. Therefore, the combined Imperial Congress has voted 582 - 118 in favor of selling a planet to a foreign nation.

Baal IV is 20,739.47km in Diameter. The earthlike planet is 68% water.

Baal IV's Chemical Composition:
30.6% Iron
30.5% Oxygen
15.7% Silicon
13.2% Magnesium
3.4% Nickel
1.9% Sulfur
1.05% Titanium

Baal IV is 149,600,000km from the Nordlund System's sun, Fury, an F2-class Sun, one class higher than Sol. Baal IV is the Fifth largest planet out of 11 total planets. Baal IV has a 20-hour day. Baal IV has four seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. The average summer temperature is about 88 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average Winter temperature is around 36 degrees Fahrenheit. Two moons float above the planet, the larger moon named Galle and the smaller moon Haleigh. The average Core temperature of Baal IV is about 8,000 degrees K, hotter than the surface of Sol.

Good luck. The bidding starts now.

Since no one had bidded, my 1000 credit offer stands.

give me the planet and the money is wired

This ain't Unicef. Minimum bid of $75 trillion. This is a planet we're talking about. Baal IV has hundreds of trillions of dollars worth of mineable materials, such as steel, diamonds, gold, etc.

And you have to be able to actually get to the planet...

My country is small and cannot afford such a sum. No one seems interested at this time. You may want to try telegraming Thelas about your offer.

 This is even more  than nation selling. Planets are practically infinite, especially since anyone can just make one up, and nobody I mean nobody just has 75 trillion sitting around to spend on whims.

You spelled Bhaal wrong.

Yes, planets are infinite, but finding an unihabited inhabitable planet with an Earth-like atmosphere, a very large untapped source of precious minerals and a perfect, spacious spot for a nation of up to 7 billion people is hard. Yeah, they can just make one up, but for that to happen, they'd have to find a whole star system NOT owned by another nation. Plus, the amount of mineable materials in this planet would equal hundreds of trillions of dollars for whichever nation that chooses to inhabit it.

Nope, it's spelled right.

Not that hard. I mean you did it, after all, doesn't look terribly difficult. I think it's a little cheesy to just make up planets and sell them. What are you gonna use that money for, that people aren't gonna ignore on the basis of not having earned it?

Defense of the Nordlund system (That's where Baal IV is), so the buyer wins twice. They get a planet, and defenses.

Actually, it took about 70 years for Foe Hammer to find an unihabited Star System suitable for colonization. (The Foe Hammer Colony Ship was travelling the universe for about 100 years. The Colony ship set off before I was deleted for inactivity, but I was planning the discovery during the time I was inactive, so I decided to post on the discovery once I got resurrected.)

You're running a bit low on bids. I'll put up a hundred billion, in case nobody else bids. Sometimes ya gotta takes what ya can gets.

Auction ending early due to almost no bidders.

Menelmacar wins.

Lady Siri, we have an Escort fleet waiting in the Nordlund system. We're uploading the coordinates. Thank you.

Shweet. \^_^/

Of course, I will have to inspect the merchandise before making payment. We will be sending the research cruiser Elrandir Neldë immediately.

Also, I'm assuming the bid currency, with nothing stated, defaults to being the standard 2003 American dollar.

Yes, Foe Hammer Credits are equal to the 2003 American Dollar.

You may send the Research team whenever you like.

About 1,000 LY. If you would like, we can send an escort fleet. Your vessels may dock with the Command ship. Our drives will make the trip instantanious.
Menelmacar

That's all right; any reasonably non-wanky drive that can jump 1000 LY would require rather long charge-times, on the order of several weeks, after a jump of such distance.

Damnit... I knew it... I'm wanking again!!!

It always sucks when you're wanking and you don't realize it, doesn't it? Don't worry: as long as you don't find yourself unwittingly wanking in church, at family picnics, or in front of the preacher at your own wedding, you should be fine. Just try not to make a mess.

This has been an official OOC post from The SLAGLandic Ministry of Context
