Drop this Harry Potter/LOTR nonsense! People can see what they want, and if parents don't want their child seeing it, then for heavens' sake, don't! Simple as that. I think Harry Potter is fine- it teaches the child to have a wide imagination. Who cares if some 8-year-old believes in magic, and is expecting a letter from Hogwarts when they get older? Unless there's something mentally wrong with them :? they'll realize that there isn't such thing as Hogwarts when they get older. And besides, who says magic can't happen? What about Jesus and his miracles? Anyway, about Lord of the Rings. Sure, it may be a bit violent, but like I said before, if parents don't want their child seeing it, then don't. Besides, Lord of the Rings is an epic tale, full of courage and imagination. What would J.R. Tolkien think if he heard you people's babbaling? He spent more than 20 years writing and revising those books, and your going to go insult it?

I've only seen two LOTR movies, but I didn't find them particularly violent. Besides, we already have age ratings for movies. As for Harry Potter, I find it laughable that anyone could have a problem with them. They're just kids' books. Nothing of concern.

OOC:

Children are not nearly as stupid or fragile as some people seem to think. Vigilantly censoring everything a child sees can have a detrimental effect; just try mollycoddling a child and see what kind of jelly-spined, milk-toastwuss you end up with.
