I was thinking of finding something that would affect almost every nation, forcing them all to participate in one massive RP. Any ideas?

Ideas:

Global Plauge - Wolfish
Invasion of Earth - TROUSRS

Global Plauge -
Invasion of Earth - For all current time, non space nations in which we are invaded by outerspace forces that have high tech weaponry.

I was toying with the idea of a global plague.

Perhaps an asteroid hitting earth or a global war or....I like your idea TROUSRS.

I think this is a brilliant idea! Although I think if lots and lots of Nations took part then the thread would collapse, you wouldn't understand what was going on. Maybe if you had moderators to keep it all together who act as story tellers and decide on events. You would have to have rules that make people stick to paosting a certain amount of RP's maybe, or sticking on the subject. I have compiled a list you could use.

An extremly powerful nation (made up or not) tries to take over the world with massive amounts of troops and everyone has to come together to stop them.
An huge nuke that has the power to take out the world is about to be dropped.
A new form of bible is discovered and half of the world belive it and the other don't, forging a world war.
Doomsday, asteroids come to hit Earth.
A bit of fantasy - a rift between our dimension and another is opened and they both fight.
Ahem... Terminator 3.
UN vs Non-UN... meh?

I'll think of more soon. It's difficult to come up with something very exciting, I like the whole terminator 3 thing. that would be great.

How aboutsome kind of plot based on the film Signs

I was thinking aliens but there would be techs getting mixed up in all of it. And it does sound a little farfetched, hey, I would go with it but a lot of people would just be like, "wtf? Shut up you dumbasses". I guess its better than time machines etc.

You'd need to split the RP between several threads to make this work!

Space tech/Aliens against modern tech nations would be cool, but what about us non-spacefleet earth based future tech nations?

What about fantasy nations? With dragons or the undead or who knows what?

Problem is that it would become impossible to keep track of things, unless...

You split all involved members into groups (based on location, probably) and roleplay each different section, alongside having a central co-ordination thread, where representatives from each battlegroup respond with the happenings of their particular area.

Not that I'm a major RPer, of course, certainly with this nation

Exactly what I said, there's got to be some kind of special rule or more than one thread to get this to work.

Can I share an rp idea? How about a WWIII type scenario. Everyone picks a country in the real world and starts a war. It can span to North/South America, The Pacific, Asia, Africa, Europe, everywhere.

Of course, all with a good storyline and plot. :)

If I remember correctly The macabees did that already. Go to international incidents and click on World War X. I don't think I'd take part in something that has all ready been done.

This idea certainly has potential. I like the political division of Right vs. Left.

This idea certainly has potential. I like the political division of Right vs. Left.

That's an absurd idea. Some people consider themselves centrist, and even people who are right/left will have degrees of extremity and disagree with each other's views.

I like the Invasion of Earth Idea.

It probably be like Harry Turtledove's World War series though.

The only problem I see with the 'Invasion of Earth' idea is tech levels, it would have to be modern tech only or else we would have space nations on par with the invaders.

other ideas:
The Covert Operational Bureaucratic Revolutionary Army starts a world revolution.
A world wide nuclear winter/holocaust from all the bombs dropped in Rps.
A massive coalition of 3rd world nations attack the 1st world powers.
Massive world terrorism (including WMDs)... but noone knows who's behind it.

About the Invasion of Earth, scenario, I almost started one a week back with my older puppet. It was halted due to an Invalid_session, but I could ressurect it.

Letila has a point...the Matrix could be interesting. High-tech nations would be like the machines, and the rest of us..well you get the point.

That's just a guideline. This is very well gameplay. Plus, those forums are both IN chacacter, this is OUT of character.

This is not at all what those of us who posted in the original thread asking for this forum intended.

This, we hope, is NOT for any discussion what-so-ever of RP - in character OR out of character. Like crazy said, y'all took over NS and II, this is about actual gaming fuctions, not discussions about RPs.

Now, I don't know much about RPs, but it seems to me that this thread would fit in NS as OOC:Construction of Massive RP. Am I wrong?

Considering that Nationstates Forum has been conceded wholly to the rp'ers, I think Crazy and Unfree are right that there is more than enough room there.
Also note the distinction between the simple "in-charecter" in nationstates description and the stricter "[In-character; role-playing etiquette enforced]" in II

Of the 2 being thrown around, the plague is probably the easier one to work with. A plague would affect any nation at all, even space natiosn (perhaps a traveller or ship came in contact with the disease etc...)

The problem with the invasion, (as much as I like the idea personally) is that nations playing present or past would almost have to change the way their world is seen to go along with it. It would be asking a little much to have aliens/robots/paradimensional beings with space age weapons going against people with axes/swords/guns/Elvis Impersonators...

I'm all for the aliens one. The aliens wouldn't have to be Über tech though. Let's say they have the technology to get here, but they are scientifically advanced, not all that weapons advanced.

Their reson for invading could be that some governments who knew the aliens (Because the had come here already to look for life) screwed up relations or something to that accord.

Personally, I think this is the place for this discussion (OOC), but I feel we need a general Mod ruling on what things should go in what forum.

I think it should be (Although, I know it isn't like this now):

International Incidents: All wars/violent RPs, disasters, and Storefronts
Nationstates: All Peaceful RPs, diplomacy, an research.
Gameplay: All OOC discussions about 'game play', nations (e.g. how is *Blank* done in your nation/what is your *blank* and why?), ideas for RPs, Region Ads, and FAQs on tech.

I'm kind of late into this, but here's an idea that could work. Global Terrorism. Yea yea, I know, it's been used hundreds of times, but look around. There's many games based on terrorism! And this idea would be globally feasible! A large terrorist group trying to take the world! Think of it. Not just car bombings and plan hijakings and shit. I mean, sure, that would happen, but an actual terrorist army, sprining up and starting rebellions. Something like in Command and Conquer Generals. Just a sugestion.

The terrorism bit is interesting I must say. If you look around the forums there are many, MANY forums that have things about terrorism. (In our regional forum alone we have a terrorist harboring nation, a rebel faction of clans and my own terrorist group bent on causing chaos...) It's certainly a feasible idea, but alot of details would have to be worked out regarding whether or not terrorist groups banded together and who'd be in charge. Still a decent idea though!

The prophecy one is a nice mysterious idea that I like as well, but good luck convincing more conservative religious nations to agree on one type of religious experience! hehehe...

Ideas

A huge terrorist cell uprising, threatening millions of civilion lifes.

National leaders captured and/or assinated.

A disfunctional HOUND launcher begins randomly firing nuclear warheads towards Earth.

Global Warming begins on an extraordinary scale.

Plague begins in one nation, followed by mad dash to help and raise sanctions against the nation.

They all sound like good idea, depending on how we play them. There's ways to RP with all of these. Although I do have some questions on the Hound Launcher...how many nukes will it fire? And where at?

Anyway, I have one overall question. Will this be a charactor RP (single people who are somehow involved), or a nation RP (RP Your nations actions), or a mix (RP your nations overall actions, as well as the people taking them). Just curious.

I think this is a good idea, I would be glad to participate in it. I would prefer it wasn't a war RP though. I've got a war going on with CHOMP and Milla da Killa. Global plague though, what would we do? Be scientists researching a cure? Terrorists I can see, special operations squads going out and killing them.

OOC: If you can find decent space RP'ers, not a pack of nuke-slinging godmodders, then I'd go for that. Unfortunately, the chances of that happening are slim to none, so I'd have to go for the global plague, with a lot of reluctance.
