FAQ creation and solid rules

I'd like to use this thread to start the basis of a FAQ for newbies that will eventually be compiled from info gathered here. Buy I also would like to see everyone discuss here some solid roleplay rules.

So everyone, I'd like you to start posting the GDP calculators you use. What you get your images from, examples on how to do sales. Right now I'd like to focus on these general roleplay and conduct pieces. And get into war a little later. As war can be fought out in RP in several different ways, it would be best to hold off for a moment.

Here is what I use:

GDP Calculator:

http://www.pipian.com/stuffforchat/gdpcalc.php?

Images and info

http://www.google.com/

http://www.fas.org/

Very good with a collection of weapons from all sorts:

http://www.securityarms.com/

I use a game for action photos such as this (http://www.tacticalblunder.com/~uploads/Harnu/12-20-4.jpg)

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/

And for weapons I create to sell like my HAR76 (Just the pic, not the thread) (http://www.tacticalblunder.com/~uploads/Harnu/har76.jpg) or my SR40 (Just the pic, not the thread) (http://www.tacticalblunder.com/~uploads/Harnu/nssr40small.jpg) I use:

Good old pen and paper (http://www.bimc.com/BIMC_Images/clipboard-pencil-and-paper-.jpg)

For product sales I think you should have a picture of some kind, and essential stats. But keeping stats within reason for created items. No rifle is perfect. I.E. My HAR76 has good accuracy on semi auto, but full auto it goes to shit.

There are no rules on a free form forum which this is.

You don't have enough forums for RP already?

This is for the less RP based side of the game.

I support you on this one!

Okay... then let's set some basic guidlines to a much better RP. Hell, call them "rules" and RP with people who agree with them. I don't mean it literally like you're going to get fined for breaking them... althought I could use a little extra pocket cash

this could be considered the OOC section to help lay some better guidlines for the IC parts...

Somewhat, buy expanded. Along with questions to some of the most frequently asked questions. And maybe even a quick refrence to certain things for everybody.

Talk about nation management, regional politics, and why llamas are a cooler national animal than squirrels.

Buy nothing mentioning in character or RP being enforced. Leading me to belive this would make the perfect spot for it. Either way, does it really matter which one it is in, it can seemingly belong to both. Can we just get the ball rolling on getting some general info and websites to help create a FAQ.

Let me ask everyone this, how old should a nation be before being eligible for nuclear weapons? I say two months, a month and a half at the least.

How about this post?
]In response to popular demand (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=100826), this new forum has been created in order to provide a place for players to discuss "in-game" matters -- without requiring role-playing. A bit of a gap has opened up between players who engage in highly involved role-playing in the forums and those who don't; until now, the latter haven't really had anywhere to chat about gameplay.

Enjoy. ;)

This thread is about roleplay, an in-game matter. And this thread does not require you to roleplay... are you not making that connection?

This thread is about roleplay, an in-game matter. And this thread does not require you to roleplay... are you not making that connection?Yeah, but my basic thing is, you've got 2 forums connected to roleplay, right? And the region crashing side has how many forums connected to it? Zero. So, thats what this forum is for. Not so the RPers can conquer and pillage more bandwidth.

I posted here because it seemed fine to post here. If it doesn't belong here, I'm sure the moderators are perfectly capable to move it if necessary. So if it doesn't belong here, it will get moved to the correct spot. I used the statements I read and posted where it seemed best. We don't need to argue where it belongs. Now until they move, or don't move it, let's just stick to the topic at hand.

As [violet] has said, we are going to have a look at how this forum evolves first. However, you do already have two forums for RP. Inter-regional politics is RP of a sort, yes, but this place is not really for nations doing imaginary cavalry charges at each other. NS and II serve that function well enough.

Thank you for your timely response Tactical Grace.

Now, does anyone have some info, suggestions, or ideas they want to debate about some new guidlines and FAQ

i don't personaly attempt to calculate a gdp as i perceive my
nation as being post monitary and i realy don't see any logical way
to translate conventional 'economic wisdom' into the concepts i base it on.
so i just pretty much ignore the economic factors 'the game' comes up with. while recognizing them as a useful guide perhapse, for those who choose to be.

as for the immages on my own website and the various galleries i have pages on such as elfwood, vcl, side7 and care2, these are my own origeonal 'art' attempts to illustrate the kind of world and place is my nation and the kind of world i would tangably and materialy prefer to live in

I will try to get some discussion going, hopefully some of the experienced NS World players here will add their ideas in this thread. What we need is some rough guidelines on what goes here and how to discuss regional politics. The first thing we need is an actual exhaustive definition of regional politics, as this is an unfamiliar element of the game to many, and is causing some confusion. Once people have a clear idea in their mind what it is, the rest should be easy.
