Today members of the Haaregradian Republican Party, Fascist Party and a portion of the Haaregradian Centrist Party have merged to for the Haaregradian United Nationalist Party.

In the last election the Blue Party(Republicans) recieved 8% of the popular vote and one seat in the Parliment, they recieved no seats on the Pan-Haaregradian Council.

Hopes are the new party will capture up to 25% of the popular vote. The population is shifting right, with the Communist Party's popular support shrinking. The Socialist Party has stayed about even, with Vladimir Lenin III's approval rating at 51%.

Currently leadership for the party is a race between Andrei Reagan of the Republicans and Dimitri Yashin, the former Fascist Party leader.

Yashin's platform:

Wants to see an end to Social Welfare and unionized labour. Will cut taxes to under 30% and dramatically increase military spending. Will overturn the 35 hour work week. Will completely eliminate immigration, possibly by military force. Will install cameras in crime ridden areas and stop the liberalization of Haaregradia. Will remove the Hammer and Sickle from the flag.

Reagan's platform:

Seeks for a major overhaul of the Haaregradian economy, including selling off all government run businesses. Wishes to reduce the power of the unions and freeze the minimum wage. Will cut taxes for all businesses and allow businesses to operate with less competition. Wants to see increased military spending and major cuts in all other spending. Will reduce immigration significantly. Will crack down on crime including sending more criminals to Gulag Island. Plans to cut taxes to 30% or less and overturn the 35 hour work week law. Also will remove the Hammer and Sickle from the flag. Has seen significant loss of support due to their opposition to the 35 hour work week.

We have political freedom in Haaregradia, these people have yet to be successful in attacking our way of life and our nation's devotion to Social Democracy, however they are free to try.

We would love to follow your silly ideals, however Haaregradia is a Republic and a Democracy and we view the concept of people being in charge for some arbituary reason as dangerous because it leads to the suppression of civil rights and constant rebellion attempts as other people try to take power. It is best to allow the people as a group lead the nation.

We feel our help should be most directed to nations with similar interests as ours, while it won't dry up you will certainly receive more if you allow more economic freedoms within your nation. Corporations never hurt anyone after all, money is what makes the world go around.

Dimitri Yashin:

Haaregradian money should be spent on Haaregradians first. If any is left it can be used to help assist other anti-Communist, pro-military nations. Why should foreigners reap the rewards of Haaregradian labour? We will of course compensate you for allowing Zanzibar Island Armed Forces Base.

It looks like Andrei Reagan, with 55% of the party members votes will become the new leader of the Haaregradian Nationalist Party(Steel Party).

In a move of diplomacy he has asked Mr. Yashin to be his running mate in the coming election.

And thus the HNP was formed.
