Five Civilized Nations

This will be a Civil War roleplay with regards to the Battle of Gettysburg or any other battle between the Union and the Confederates. One of the bloodiest battles during the American Civil War. There will be a cohesive chain of command and the battle will occur, albeit not entirely based on history... In addition, we will be using weaponry utilized in the 19th Century, which means no machine guns, beam cannons, and other such modern and futuristic weaponry... May the best army win... And to make things easier, we will split the battle into two sides, the Union and the Confederates.

Chains of Command

Union Chain of Command
Commander-in-chief--President Abraham Lincoln
-Secretary of War--Edwin Stanton
-Chief of Staff to Lincoln--Henry W. Halleck
Commander Army of the Potomac (about 85,000 men)--Major General George Meade
-Meade's Chief of Staff--Dan Butterfield
-Commander I Corps--Major General John Reynolds
-Commander II Corps--Major General Winston Scott Hancock
-Commander III Corps--Major General Daniel Sickles
-Commander V Corps--Major General Sykes
-Commander VI Corps--Major General John Sedgwick
-Commander XXI Corps--Major General Oliver Howard
-Commander XXII Corps--Major General Slocum
-Commander Cavalry--Brigadier General John Buford
-Commander Artillery--Major General Henry Hunt

Confederate Chain of Command

Commander in Chief--President Jefferson Davis
Commander Army of North Virginia (about 70,000 men)--Lieutenant General Robert E. Lee
-Commander I Corps--Lieutenant General Longstreet
-Commander II Corps--Major General Dick Ewell
-Commander III Corps--Major General Ambrose P. Hill
-Commander Cavalry--Major General Jeb Stuart
-Commander Confederate Artillery--Colonel Porter Alexander

I will take the Army of the Potomac. You may replay out your individual commands. I need someone to take control of the Army of North Virginia.

I'll take the Army of North Virginia if you want FCN, this is a neat idea.

I like this idea too, in fact IIRC I suggested it or something very like it recently somewhere on this forum.

Unfortunately I know too little about it to give it a good try.

Hey everyone...

Kecha, what battle do you want to "reenact"? Gettysburg, Antietam, Bull Run, Five Forks, Fredericksburg, or Chancellorsville?

FCN: Antietam, just to fight out that famous fight.

FCN: Supposing we played out the full Civil War? obviousley not identically to the real one, it'd be very cool, fighting all acrossed the United States.

That could work... We could bring other people in to rp as other groups... Say the British and the French intervene or something like that... By the way have you read any of the alternative history books about the Civil War?

Start at the beginning with the first battle of Manassas. (Bull Run.)
Lee would not be in command, It would be Joe Johnston, but Jackson would be alive.

If a fictional reenactment then I would like to be Jackson and would stay behind my lines at Chancellorville. LOL

The English could enter as themselves through Canada. RE: The capture of 2 Confederate Ambassadors by Union forces and the buildup of 10,000 English Troops. Will find historical details.

Big Bethel
Bethel Church, Great Bethel Virginia
American Civil War
June 10, 1861
This was the first land battle in Virginia. Maj. Gen. Benjamin F. Butler sent converging columns from Hampton and Newport News against advanced Confederate outposts at Little and Big Bethel. Confederates abandoned Little Bethel and fell back to their entrenchments behind Brick Kiln Creek, near Big Bethel Church. The Federals, under immediate command of Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Pierce, pursued, attacked frontally along the road, and were repulsed. Crossing downstream, the 5th New York Zouaves attempted to turn the Confederate left flank, but were repulsed. Unit commander Col. T. Wynthrop was killed. The Union forces were disorganized and retired, returning to Hampton and Newport News. The Confederates suffered 1 killed, 7 wounded.

Result(s): Confederate victory

Location: York County and Hampton

Campaign: Blockade of the Chesapeake Bay (May-June 1861)

Date(s): June 10, 1861

Principal Commanders: Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Pierce [US]; Col. John B. Magruder and Col. D.H. Hill [CS]

Forces Engaged: 4,700 total (US 3,500; CS 1,200)

Estimated Casualties: 87 total (US 79; CS 8)
