"This is Bill Collin reporting, the results of the 1st annual "Christmas Wish" contest for the High School bracket. This contest challenged high schoolers to present a Christmas Wish in a poem format. While the government generally looks down upon the creative arts, exceptions must be made in the spirit of the holiday. This years winner was Kathy Cent from Herson City, with a poem entitled, "A Day of Peace" No one save for the judges have heard this poem. She will now recite her poem live"
A young, very pretty girl, maybe 17 years of age, clad in a black shirt buttoned up to the shoulders and a skirt hanging just below the knee, made her way across the stage to the podium. She stepped and adjusted the microphone and said
"Seasons Greetings to Everyone, I am Kathy Cent and my Poem is entitled "A Day of Peace"
"Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the world
Some nations were busy
Carrying on wars"
"A challenge to you, truly I say to thee
Let us put an end to war and suffering
World peace is a goal unattainable"
A challenge I issue to, and I ask you to listen
On this one day, my the bloodshed lessen
For only one day
May hostilities cease?
And maybe, just maybe
Those days will increase
From one
To two
To a week
Maybe more
And before you know it
There’s no fighting no more
Enemies become allies
The world begins anew
All working together
For what we know is true"
"So be you Human, Elven, Cyborg, or other
So be you Christen, Jewish, Atheist or nothing
On this Christmas Day, we ask that you please
Cease war
With one another"

A stunned silence feel across the room, and the only sound was the click click of the girl’s high-healed shoes as she walked slowly off the stage. Then, a lone hand clapping, shatter the silence, that lone clap was join by another, and another until the applause thundered across the entire hall.
"Uhhh, that was lovely" stammered the reporter, "I uhh..." He tapped his earpiece; "I'm being told that Chancellor Main has requested access to TNN for a live public broadcast, to be sent across the entire nation, and around the world, we now go live to the Migest, where the Chancellor will speak
"This is truly a unprecedented event in Transnapastain history, and I am moved by the speech, I have decided to give every member of the armed forces, aside from the border guards and security police, a weeks leave to be with their families on this nearing Christmas day, effective immediately, those soldiers who do not receive this weeks leave WILL be home for New Years! Also, I am sending orders to cut money form the Military Weapons Procurement Division and shift those funds into the Military Payroll Office, and each solider from General to Privet will receive a major holiday bonus, all cooperate business are hereby ordered to remain, or reopen and cater to those military men and women returning home! Airlines WILL provide FREE transportation, and hotels will provide FREE Accommodations for soldiers with no place to go! Let us honor those who defend out freedom by freeing them from their duties for a time!
