stirrings... (Mandshur revolution)

25-12-2003, 02:45
A socialist political group has arisen in Mandshur to overthrow the current government. The small size of the Mandshur government and the abolishment of the military in recent months makes this a likely possibility. To maintain the political freedom that has always been the pride of Mandshur, the Mandshur government is calling for aid from any neighboring countries willing to offer their support.

(OOC: Not neighbouring, but...)

Edwardo Sanchez looked up from the report at his two of his head generals. He turned to the first one.

"Ricardo Johnson."
"President Sanchez."
"Would it be a large problem to help stabilize this country?"
"Oh, no sir. The revolt does not appear to be large and if we act now we can easily stem the attempts of these rebels to throw the country into chaos. Plus, we can easily help train those who would not see their country thrown into ruin."
"Excellent. Admiral Yoltz?"
"Yessir?" replied Yoltz.
"Prepare a fleet. Johnson, get the infantry and air force ready."
"Yessir," said Yoltz again.
"Yes sir!" said Johnson.

...

The people need to feel that Mintar still has strength; that it can still enforce its righteous will... Sanchez though as he drafted an e-mail to Mandshur.

"Our dear friends in Mandshur,

We have heard of your recent plight, and we would be more than willing to give you aid. However, we will need maps of the terrain and of the rebel positions so we will know where to land.

--President Edwardo Sanchez of Mintar"

Mandshur thanks you both for your generous offers of help. At this time, we do not know the exact location of the rebel troops. However, we do know that they have begun to take over in northwestern Mandshur. (OOC: The only map of Mandshur is on rough paper) Any help in that area would be greatly appreciated.
OOC: Sorry, I'm not on that often- three times a day on average.

OOC: I have to say goodBye for now, bUt I will be back on later tonight. Until then, keep Major things back. If you want to Place your troops, thats fine, but don't attack outright yet. I should be back in under three hours.

Recent intel has provided more information about the size and eqipment of the rebel forces. They are reported to be numbered at approximately 80,000. They have a large supply of both M-16s and AK-47s, but are not reported to have any aircraft.

Ricardo Johnson pulled Yoltz aside after their meeting.

"Do you really think we can pull a war off just like this?"
"Sanchez has a lot of power." Yoltz shrugged.
"Should we even be backing him in this?"
Yoltz just shrugged again.

Ricardo turned away after that. He wouldn't find much support against Sanchez in Yoltz. He was just a lackey. Turning the hall, he walked into his office and picked up the phone.

"Get me Loren Smith, director of the MSN." (MSN = Mintarian Security Network)
"Loren? Yeah, I want everything you know on Mandshur..."

Mandshur is grateful for Mintar's aid. A large space is cleared 1.2 km away from the Mandshur capital of Ionus. A tall middle-aged man approaches General Johnson. "Greetings, and welcome to Mandshur. We all thank you for coming to our aid in this time of crisis. There have been several volounteers, approximately 15,000, in fact. They request training, which alas, we are unable to provide. If there is any wat for them to be involved, they are at your disposal. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help. All our resources are available for your use." He awaits General Johnsons's response.

The nation of dundaine airforce request premission to drop napalm on the northwest corner of the country where the rebels supposedly are
26-12-2003, 17:07
We would prefer that no bombs or napalm be dropped in that area, as there are still citizens living there that are loyal to the country of Mandshur. If matters become out of hand, this may be a necessary step. However, because the rebels are reputed to be armed only with guns we believe this will not be necessary. And the chance of hitting them is lowered, while that of hitting innocent citizens is raised, as we do not yet know the rebels' exact locations.

(In Sanchez's office)

"Get me the press secretary-general. Tell him to keep this whole thing low..."

----

(On the fleet before the landing)

Back and forth... back and forth... back and--

Ricardo jerked himself up from staring at the sea. I will not get seasick... he thought to himself. This whole business was bad enough without having to lose his lunch. Still, he had to think. Had to get this over with. They were nearing land; he should probably give his orders now. Ricardo picked up his radio and spoke into it...

"OK, we're going to need recon if we're ever going to get this done. Get any satellites we have over there taking photos and see what we can find. I want 10 Hellions and 5 of those helicopters scouting the area. And if these ships can be put to any use in finding the rebels, use 'em."

Hardly waiting for the response, he jerked his radio off and picked up his phone. Air and sea power were all very nice, but he needed something more.

"Loren?"
"Ricardo. A pleasure to speak with you as always..."
"I don't have time for this. Do you have any spies over here that we could use?"
"Ricardo, Mandshur is just one of those little unknown countries that make up this world. If we had ten times as many spies as we did now we couldn't afford to put ONE in each of those little nations."
"Well, in that case, get one in there."
"A little touchy are we today, Ric...?" Loren replied, amused.
"Just do it."
"Hmmmm... perhaps I should send Martin. He still does need some training..."
"Loren, you're not Sanchez. Stop giving your little brother assignments; you know he isn't good for that sort of thing."
"I'm not Sanchez, but that doesn't mean that I don't recognize talent when I see it. But if it makes you happy, I'll send two other people with him. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm a very busy man and have much better things to do then jabber on the phone with a pissed off Major General. Goodday."

This time it was Ricardo who was left staring in silence at his phone.

----

(At the landing, almost done here! )

In just a few minutes, his planes would go out, and then he could act. The promised agents wouldn't be here for a few more days but he could wait. The sooner the better, though.

The soldiers were setting up base at the area that had been so kindly cleared. DTS-2 missile systems were being set up, Comanche and Hellions were patrolling the skies, Manticores, B-1s, and infantry patrolled the ground. Everything was going according to plan.

All our resources are available for your use."

"Grant?" Ricardo said, turning to one of his soldiers.
"Yes sir?"
"Check this man; make sure he's from Mandshur."
"Right away, sir."

(OOC: After he does that, assuming he finds nothing bad, they can begin to talk)
27-12-2003, 01:26
Nothing 'bad' is found. Once the procedures are through, he introduces himself as Arthur Vangades, chief of the 12-member council that rules Mandshur. "I hope you find Mandshur to your liking. You are welcome to come with me to Ionus, if you wish to be quartered there. I can also introduce you to the other members of Council, who could not be here today."

(OOC: What do helicopters/fighters find after sweeping the entire area? Anyway, I'll assume that the stuff we find on this guy backs his statement up & that Mintar got a report that he was meeting us)

IC:

Ricardo looked the man over.

"Sir, with all due respect, I am not a representative. I need to stay here with my troops. However, I have a contingent of 100 soldiers who will be training your volunteers; perhaps Ionus would be a good area to train?"

----

(OOC: Dundaine, if you have a space fleet, you're playing above our tech level, so you'd have to tone down the entire tech level of your nation if you want to enter in militarily. Also, if you do decide to stay in this RP, a bit more description & RPing might be nice. Thanks.)

OOC: so you want me to stay in tanks and infantry just so this rp will be extended
27-12-2003, 06:19
OOC: No, it's just that neither of our nations have those things. It would be like a cross-world RP (which this is not) if we included them. Also, I'm going out of town this weekend, I'm sorry, and I won't have internet access. So this thing will have to just be on pause till I get back. I'll develop some more info on the rebels while I'm gone, though. Sorry again, guys.
27-12-2003, 06:23
The man nods with understanding. "Of course. You will do as you wish. As I said, all our resources are available. You may train in Ionus. I'm afraid all our old training equipment has been dismatled, but if you tell us what is needed I'm sure we can provide it. There is a field not far from the center of Ionus that would be ideal for training." (OOC: Hopefully that all works out- I have to go, so I'll find out on Monday)

IC:

Ricardo nodded. "Grant?" he said.
"Yes sir?"
"Get the trainers ready. They'll be leaving in a few hours."
"Right away sir."

Ricardo turned back to the man. "My men will tell you what they need. They'll be going back with you in a while."

(OOC: Have NO idea what equipment is needed but I guess we'll just leave the training part out & assume it's being done unless you want to direct it and/or have me RP specific problems that I can deal with in the training.)
30-12-2003, 01:43
(OOC: Back. Phew, only one post. We don't have to RP the training, it's probably unnecessary. We probably don't need to RP the helicopter ride either.)
The man nods and prepares the helicopter for transport. The ride to the capital is short and smooth. The helicopter lands on the western side of a wide field, with a large and apparently vacant house to the far south. On the opposite side of the field are many tents, of various colors and shapes. "That house currently holds only old figures for target practice, but you will shortly be supplied with any weaponry you require. We have contacted all our old gunsmiths,a nd they are hard at work. A man named Nigel Rocson should come with the guns and other equipment later today. The volunteers have set up camp over there," he says, pointing to the tents. "Again, we thank you for all your help." He stays only as long as necessary, then gets back in the helicopter and lifts off.

Nearing the hour of 1800, a second helicopter lands. A tall man wearing only black steps out. He walks up to the nearest person, introducing himself as Nigel Rocson, and hands them an official document verifying his identity and his position as Mandshur's Chief of Arms. The helicopter stays on the field as several others land nearby.
Mintar
30-12-2003, 06:12
The document(s) are inspected to make sure that they are authentic. (yes, we're picky). Nigel is thanked for his help & asked if he wishes to observe the training.

---

(Meanwhile, back at the base...)

Ricardo picked up his radio and spoke to the helicopter pilots.

"Have you found anything yet?"
31-12-2003, 01:49
"Thanks, but I should get back. Maybe I'll stop by later."
---
OOC: Yeah, I kind of skipped that before, huh? This would be so much easier if I could show you the map. I don't know coordinates. How low are the helicopters flying? It's probable that the rebels would notice helicopters flying over, so I need to know how high/low you are. Get back to me and I'll make the big post about location, and possible interaction.

You can vaguely hear shouts, and hear a few shots, but nothing comes close to hitting you. As you complete your rounds you can locate 6 distinct groups within less than 10 miles of eachother. Ricardo grinned as he heard the report from the helicopters. So they were formed up just like an army, eh? This would be easier than he'd thought.

First, he gave orders to the Hellions and Comanches in the air.

"Be ready to strike the first of the larger groups to create distractio, if they're that organized. I want you ready to fire within a minute of my command. Patrol until then."

"Right away sir."

Next, he contacted Yoltz.

"Yoltz, this is Ricardo."
"How goes it?"
"Fine. But I need your ships to be ready to fire on a target on the mainland. We're sending you the coordinates now." he said, motioning to a technical officer.
"OK, they'll never know what hit them."
"Good," Ricardo said, and cut the connection. He had no time to spare on formalities.

Calling to his pilots, he ordered the 12 F-117Xs and 50 Hellions in the air, ready to attack.

Finally, he readied his groud forces. Howitzers turned and readied for fire, and men got into tanks and started to drive...

Ricardo smiled and sipped some coffee an aid had brought him. This was going to be a good day.

(OOC:

So, at rebel group #1 = 20,000 people, 10 Hellions & 5 comanches are going to fire around at the same time that...

Yoltz's ships will fire about 30 tomahawk missiles at rebel group #2 = 20,000 people, the 12 F-117Xs (fighter/bombers) & 50 Hellions will drop bombs at that same area. The howitzers (100 total) will also begin to shell that general area.

Finally, after that continues for a bit, a task force of 100 Imperium tanks, 100 Manticore II tanks and about 150 soldiers in vehicles will come to mop up what's left.

The planes should arrive in about 15 mins (& thus that's when the massive strike on rebel group #2 will begin), the ground force will arrive in about 3 hrs. That's game time, just for clarification.)
02-02-2004, 02:15
The first wave of bombs brings rushed orders from generals as soldiers caught unawares scramble to the trenches. Some crouch low in the trenches, others lie flat, surveying their [260] dead comrades with horror. Living in a pacifist nation, many of them have never known death on this scale. Some break down, but with renewed vigor, many steady their weapons as they wait for the next advance.
Mintar
02-02-2004, 02:44
"Our payload has been delivered; we're heading back to base," reported the fighter pilot.

Ricardo was about to issue another order when he received a call from Yoltz.

"Ricardo Johnson here."
"Rick, how long should we keep this up?"
"Preferably until my boys get over there for the clean-up."
"What? Are you crazy? These missiles are expensive; we can't keep this up for very long."
"Fine then; keep it up as long as you can 'afford.'"
"Great, thanks."

Cheap navy guys... mumbled Ricardo.

----

With Yoltz's ships of limited help (say, just about two more waves ~ 60 missiles) and his planes out of weaponry, Ricardo ordered 35 Comanches into the air.

"Swoop down low; we don't want our ground soldiers being overwhelmed right off the bat."
"Roger."

The intense roar of the helicopters was somehow satisfying to Ricardo, even this early in the morning. He took a moment to marvel at the technology of modern man and its uses; both for creation and destruction.

The helicopters roared off, soon overtaking the tanks and soldiers and heading toward the encampment.

----

Number recap:

100 howitzers still shelling
~60 more missiles incoming from Yoltz
35 Comance Helicopters to reach the base in a little under an hour
100 Imperium & 100 Manticore II tanks + 150 soldiers in vehicles to arrive in about 3 hours. 1 hr before they arrive, shelling will cease.
