Election in Yshurak

25-12-2003, 02:32
With the country's first space shuttle still in orbit and readying its return from its mission, Yshurak's president's—Jan Horembolg—term nears its end. It was obvious to announce the space shuttle mission to spur his political career for reelection in the eyes of the people and divert their attention away from rising taxes. Now the election for the next six year term approaches, and several candidates have made themselves known.

Daron Malore, a member of the Conservative Party and running candidate for the presidency, has this to say: "We need to cut down taxes, and cut them down quickly. Sure social healthcare and prestine environmental sites are swell and all, but it causes the tax burden to be too much! It makes the government criminal!! If elected, I mean to fix these problems so the people are not taxed so much."

The other opposing candidate, Jiran Hjork, is the running front man for the Communist Party and so far seems to be the most popular of the top three presidential candidates. "Communism is the only answer! The government exploits the proletariat with its unfairly high taxes. And as our government greedily robs us, we are left wide open for attack from other countries who would rob us of our rich, natural resources that have laid dormat for so long due to environmental protection laws. We must rebuild the military and raise national defense to ensure that this never happens."

President Jan Horembolg, member of the Liberal Party, could not be reached for comment at this time. But it has shown that his popularity rating has plummeted extremely in the past week.

Jiran Hjork's popularity continues to increase, everyone beginning to look at the answer of communism. Jan Horembolg's chances of winning a reelection are growing slim. Both conservatives and liberals are growing worried at the losses they're suffering to the growing communist popularity.

President Horembolg has still yet to make comment on this issue.

Today's the day of the great presidential election in Yshurak. The people shall enter the ballots and choose their leader. 70% polled said they intended to vote for the Communist candidate, Jiran Hjork. Will today see an end to capitalism in Yshurak?
