The Divine Emperor sat on the massive marble throne within the Imperial Palace in Astevane. A gaunt haggard old man with a white beard, wearing hooded purple robes. The hood was pulled over his face. Behind it was a gigantic demonic looking statue with a goat's head, and wings curved around the throne. He had executed most of the nobility, and had finally seized power over Aerion His New Aerion Order had attracted millions of Aerion citizens, ensuring loyalty to himself. He had declared himself a god, had thousands of temples, and shrines built to himself across Aerion. He had a firm grip over the nation. The Imperial Cult had thousands of priests, and followers. People were isolated to schedules under the semi-martial law. Aerion had been transformed into a police state. The Imperial Security Agency formed a massive police force. External agents were placed in every public building. Private citizens served as eyes of the Imperial Security Agency, being paid well for their services, and turning in those who spoke against the Emperor. Almost every institution had external agents of the Imperial Security Agency. They monitored personal communications, held tight control over the news networks, and blocked external broadcasts from entering Aerion. Only government authorized channels were shown. The Imperial Security Agency had intelligence cells consisting of private citizens, and agents throughout the country, in every town, monitoring the activities of their fellows. Parades were regularly held where the thousands of uniformed members of the New Aerion Order would march in the streets, chanting "All hail the Divine Emperor, glory to the Divine Emperor, worship to the Divine Emperor." Indeed, the Divine Emperor held a tight grip throughout Aerion. Though his age was failing him, and many of the Imperial Court secretly wondered how much longer he would last.
