The Lost City of Triton [Red Dragon]

24-12-2003, 08:12
It has been almost 9 months since Triton fell to the Red Dragon's control. Chief Executive Officer of the Capsule Corporation, Jacen Capsule, sat in a military conference room in the heart of a rather large ZDF spacedock in orbit of Zarahemla. He looked around the room at the small council of his highest friends. Other than the sound of tapping fingers, the room was silent. He rolled his eyes with a sigh, "Where in space is this Jonas fellow...? You guys did tell him 1900 hours, right?"

Almost on cue, the doors opened, and a man with short hair and a small electronic device on his temple came into the room, eager to apologize. "Sorry Mr. Capsule-- Preside-- CEO-- Sir, I was putting the final touches on my--"

"Shut up already and get to the point. You have some new information on Triton City?"

He nodded quickly, sounding shy of breath, yet still excitedly hyper, "Yes sir, a scout ship found the Triton Instillation. There's about 700 Million people there, even though it's over an uninhabitable planet... Really quite an excellent location... full of all sorts of materials and soils needed to manufacture the Red Dragon's strongest technologies. We were thinking of sending a better scout ship in, but--"

"Whoa, settle down, you're getting ahead of yourself. Keluma, right?"

"Yes sir, Lieutennant Commander Jonas Keluma."

"Any relation to Commander Sariah Keluma, of the Valiance?"

"...yes sir, she's my elder sister."

"Ah, good news... anyway, where did you say the Triton Instillation was?"

"Oh, right, yeah, look here." He looks down at the table in the middle of the room and taps the device on the side of his head. A beam scatters forth onto the desktop, displaying a map of Capsule Corporation territory.

http://www.bateshome.com/jordan/kershaw.jpg

Jonas pointed towards the obviously highlighted system and expanded a text display, the zoomed in on the image. "This is Kershaw IV. Now, as I said, we didn't get much sensor data from the passive scans, but we did pick up the signatures of at least 700 million demonic spirits... or at least the enslaved spirits of those captured in the Red Dragon's power."

"You are sure that this is the location of Triton City?"

"Yes, among others."

"Others? Like what?"

"There were several large signatures... such as battlegroups, mother ships, other space stations... and the Planet Killer."

A military commander, female, raised an eyebrow, "We found the berth of the planet killer?!"

"Yes, we are certain... only one thing in our records has ever given off that much energy."

She spoke up again, with contained excitement, "Well great, this has 'Major Target' written all over it."

The CEO sighed and jumped back in, "Yes, or a massive hostage situation... we make an attempt to rescue and they wipe out everyone on the surface... hundreds of millions of innocent hosts... decimated. Larissa, what do you suggest we do?"

Larissa Capsule, the commander of the Zarahemla Defense Forces, answered her CEO, "Special forces seems the obvious route."

Jonas sighed, "Well, that could be hard... this place is a fortress."

"What about a full on assault, starting with the Planet Killer?"

Larissa's heart shifted, "That could work! If we put enough force on that planet killer as soon as we defold, they won't have enough time to defend the ship. But what good would this do?"

Jacen exhaled slowly, "Not much, since we do not know if the Red Dragon herself is there... but if we make a big enough dent on their forces, it should slow them down a lot, and they'll have to rebuild a new planet killer before slagging another planet." He turned to Jonas again, "Anything else?"

Jonas nodded, "Our intelligence says there are at least 3 Dark Elders on that planet."

"Dark Elders?"

"The Red Dragon's most powerful and immediate disciples."

"Allright... so what do you say we round up the allies and make a run on this place as soon as possible?"

"Absolutely yes... though we should probably run a scout mission or two."

"Right. Call the ally leaders for a meeting. Larissa, I want you to personally see up the gathering of the allies."

"Yes sir, I will ready the CCSS Liahona... we'll be out of here by 0900 tomorrow."

"Good. Anything else?"

Everyone stood silent for a moment.

"Dismissed."

Everyone in the room stood, saluted, then filed out to get back to their callings.

---------------------

72 hours later, the CCSS Liahona, Valiance Class (http://www.bateshome.com/jordan/valiance.htm), dropped out of its cascading hyperspace fold at the outer edges of Sol System... but not after telling a few of The ZDF's allies to rendezvous in orbit of Neptune's moon, Triton.

OOC: Any allies or wannabe allies of the Capsule Corporation may post their gathering here.

Suddenly 100 miles away from the CCSS Liahona Longswords started poping up on scaners suddenly a massive ship defolded. The PSN Dark Tide a Striker Class (http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/v/reinforcejr.jpg) comand ship. 3 Wings of Longswords launched and began checking scouting the area. Slowly after several scouting rounds the Longswords begen docking in the hanger. Phoenix sighed as he watched the fighters dock. He had met one of the Red Dragons fallowers befor when he was infected and he hadn't forgotten that memory. Suddenly a jr.officer broke his train of thought by reporting the wings had finished docking.
24-12-2003, 21:31
For protection purpose only, 2 grups of Ammons and two groups of Thunders (18 each) buzzed around the Liahona, orbiting like little electrons.

Com. Larissa Capsule's expressions wrinkled slightly as the phalanix ship approached... "we could use any help we can get..." she said to herself before openning a channel. "Greetings, Fleet Commander Phoenix. I thank you for coming. You have been briefed on the situation, right?"

"Either way, this will eliminate their ability to destroy entire planets. Wait.. what advantage?"

"You see when I was infected with a enhanced strin of th BP virus one of the Red Dragon's fallowers offered me a place in that asshole's army. With luck they will not know that I am not infected still and I can infiltrate and cause I distraction or if you want I can board the Planet Killer and do some massive damage. While you work at the outside I can damage the inside," Phoneix says as that smirk on his facee slowly lengthens. The bridge crew apon seeing this slightly shudered.

Larissa raised an eyebrow, "Right, umm.. I don't know if that will work... they can kinda sense the difference between good and evil...its kinda their thing." She sulked down into her chair slowly, "Come aboard, we can think of something here."

Phoenix slowly began walking towards the lift. As he steped in the lift started traveling downwards to the expansive hanger in the lower decks.

6 LRR destroyer squadrons arrive at the grouping point. They carry a total force of 4,000 naval infantry along with the firepower of the individual ships.

"Capsule Corporation ships, this is the 3rd destroyer Horde of LRR. We have arrived to aid you in your recapture of Triton city, and the destruction of the planet killer."
24-12-2003, 22:17
She smiled at the site of the allied forces rallying. "Greeting LRR Horde, thank you for coming. And thank you for bringing all your forces. Ours are waiting at Zarahemla right now, as are many other allies. I need to ask you for some specifications on your ships, do you have something I could read?"

Admiral Holdean strode about the bridge of the Endeavour, the Liberty-class Capitol Ship commanding Liberty Fleet Delta.

Holdean turned to the Navigation station. "ETA?"

His personally-appointed Nav operator clicked in a few keystrokes and answered, "Sir, we'll be arriving in about 1300 hours. Thank god for Xanthalian technology..."

"Damn right," Holdean muttered as he strode back to the ever-so-popular Command seat. Tha new FTL Drives had just been installed when the Endeavour and her fleet were called into action.

"Sir," spoke a voice from behind. Holdean turned and saw his Communications officer. "Incoming message from FleetComm. Breifing, sir."

"Put it through," requested the worn-out Admiral. A video screen appeared on the Bridge board. It was the face of his long-time CO, Burkhaul. "Well, sir, long time, no see. Whadda'ya got?"

"Holdean, sorry we yanked you out of dock so fast, but we're trying to keep good relations with the Capsule Corporation, Raysia, ZDF, whatever they call themselves. We're still trying to piece together what this is about, but from what we know, the Capsule Corporation is going to attack Triton city, and needs all the help they can get. We'll call back in about 7 hours. Set the ship under AI command, and give your crew some R&R. Burkhaul out."

Holdean snapped a salute and the video screen closed. "Ops, you heard him. Set AI command and rest up."

OOC: Summary of what is going on...

first off, read this thread: http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=96465

That's a summary thread of events so far.

And read the first post on this thread: http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=94788
That's the loss of Triton city.

all other campaign links can be found here: http://www.bateshome.com/jordan/rd.htm

So basically, Red Dragon is a demigod who managed to enslave over half of the Capsule Corporation population, as well as most of our forces, as well as forces and populations from MANY other civilizations, most of which have never set foot in the milky way.

So on this planet we're attacking, over half of the forces will be former capsule corp forces. So, obviously, please keep casualties to a minimum and just go for the big ships, because the people enslaved to the Red Dragon can eventually be set free... but of course, not untill the end of the campaign.

So basically, attack all the space ships, don't attack the space stations or the planet's surface.

Holdean woke up to the voice of the Nav officer. "Sir, we're 20 minutes out."

"Thank you, Nav," replied the refreshed Holdean. He got up, dressed up in his best command suit, and left his quarters for the bridge.

Upon reaching the bridge, Holdean was swamped with Sensor data from all stations. Weapons were check, all fighters ready, marines locked and loaded, ship on course, all vessels present, etc. He walked to the command seat, sat, and waited.

"Sir, we're one minute out," reported the Nav officer again.

The Admiral read through the reports from all vessels. Same as always. "All stations, prepare for anything."

The stations responded in unison, "Aye."

Nav reported once more, "30 seconds."

"15"...

"10"...

"Five... Four... Quantum Drives decellerating... Two... One... Lightspeed exited."

In space, a section of the void twisted, turned and warped. As quick as the blink of an eye, three massive capitol ships and numerous Destroyers and Cruisers appeared out of nowhere.

I don't think you'll need marines for a space battle... just bring your heaviest artillery ships.

IC: Larissa smiled as the group from Foe Hammer arrived. She glanced at the sensor readins of all the fighters and ships popping into the area... surely anyone on neptune would begn to wonder what the heck was happening at Triton.

Triton itself was barren... a massive crater sat in the ground where the base of triton city once mounted itself... mining tunnels led into cold space.

She openned a channel to all the allies currently in the area, "Attention all Allies of the Capsule Corporation already here. Please, if you have not done so, send a delegation to the CCSS Liahona for a status check and briefing meeting. If you do not have a shuttle, we will provide one for you. Thank you."

The military delegations are docked and led into a conference room in the heart of the Liahona, where several Capsule Corporation brass and guardsmen stand against the walls, surrounding a table where the delegates are to sit.

Larissa is standing at the head of the table, just behind a holoprojector displaying a map of the galaxy.

"I thank you all for coming. As you may or may not know by now, the Galaxy is threatened by a force known as The Red Dragon. They seek to enslave anyone and everyone that could serve their will, and destroy anyone who they deem inferior. The Capsule Corporation's former capitol of Triton, the moon which we are now Orbiting, has already fallen to the Red Dragon's army... but it was one of the few to actually be enslaved, rather than utterly destroyed."

Larissa Capsule zoomed in part of the map, to a point tens of thousands of light years from Sol, until a single star could be seen. A system of planets (not to scale) soon appeared in orbit of the image.

"This is the Kershaw system. Our scouts have reported to us that this system is a berth of the Red Dragon's armies, and the lost city of Triton... home to an estimated Seven Hundred Million enslaved beings, and at least 300 capital ships. We also know that one of their most powerful weapons, the infamous "Planet-Killer" ship, also finds harbor here.

"Our goal is to bring up a force of enormous, if not rivalling mass, and attack them in surprise. Our targets will be all capital ships, especially the Planet Killer and other mother ships. But please be careful not to hit the cities or "civillian" space stations or surface dwellings... for they hold hundreds of millions of slaves, which can be freed upon the Red Dragon's fall... our ultimate Goal.

"Sadly, this Goal will not be accomplished in this battle, but this battle will remove them of their power and force of arms is removed, and ensure the safety of those worlds and systems who have not yet seen their power.

"So, simple blitzkrieg, and everything else will take place on the field. Our retreat will be after we have confirmed either 75% of their losses, or 50% of ours. Any questions?"

Her eyes glanced around the rooms... she hoped their would be questions from all, for she hated sending people into a battle without knowledge.

"What kind of defenses do they have against a massive torpedo barrage? Also, how much damage can the planet killer take while still remaining functional?"The Planet Killer is roughly 12 kilometers long when Idle, and would be fairly easy to destroy if not for the loyalty of the other ships in the fleet. They have the ability to act as shields in the way of the planet killer, and absorb hits for them... these protecting ships have been quite a niussence in our previous attempts to destroy it. Also, in its condensed form, the planet killer is practically a brick... so vaporization would be more effective than pummeling. Use energy weapons over kinetic and explosive when possible.

As far as missile attacks go, it depends on the missile. They do have shielding which can detonate missiles outside of their effective range, so you might want to bring out the heavy nukes et cetera.

Admiral Henne raised her hand.

"How large are the Capitol Ships and the Planet Killer? We could call in a few requests and have two other Liberty Fleets here in no time, if need be."As I said, the Planet Killer is roughly 12 kilometers long when Idle and compacted, and folds out and expands to roughly ten or twenty times the length when building energy to destroy a planet.

On average, the Capitol ships that will be your targets range between 800 meters and 5 kilometers... some are extreme, but you won't really find anything bigger than the planet killer. But do not be fooled by their size, they all have great power and defense.

The Farad weapons will most definately be a powerful asset, because in previous encounters, they had little or no protection against the high energy outputs.

So basically, if you have any superlasers or heavy explosives, bring 'em.

"Once I arrive back at the Command Ship, I will order one more Fleet into the area. One shot from one of our Magnetic Accelerator Cannons has the power to punch a large hole through a Super Star Destroyer. We have at least 100 of these on each of our Capitol Ships. We should have about 600 of these cannons and about 800 Miniature versions on hand by the time the battle starts. Easy as hell. All we need is cover. Lots of cover. If the Capitol ships are as powerful as you say, our shields will cover us for a few minutes of taking constant hits. All we need is cover, and we can take that Planetkiller down easily. The smaller Capitol ships will be no problem for our Destroyers and Cruisers.

There's about 100-125 large cannons and 125-150 small versions on each of our capitol ships. How they work is a large magnet in the cannon barrel attracts space debris, heats it to the point where it's white hot, and fires it off at nearly the speed of light. The white-hot metal burns through the Ship's hull, and some of the metal makes it through the entire ship. It can easily destroy a large ship, thanks to explosive decompression.

If I understand, your Magnetic cannons merely fire globs of heated debris at the enemy. We want to vaporize them, not damage them. Like I said, this ship is a brick, and pummbling it and burning it will do no good... we have to vaporize and disintigrate it.

However, this brings up a good point, that you should all understand:

The planet Killer is built to expand as it gathers energy... thus, whatever energy weapons you fire at it have to be strong enough to vaprorize their hull in large chunks about a half a cubic kilometer at a time.. otherwise the ship will -absorb- the energy into its pores and begin to charge its very large capacitors, stretching until it can not hold any more energy, at which point it would probably discharge on us. So be careful about what you throw at it... too much of the wrong kind of energy and we could be feeding the fire. So stay away from heat weapons like lasers, and electric weapons... stick to pure energy like Farad or antimatter.

ooc: 100 ubercannons on each ship? Umm, why doesn't that sound right ;)
Yep, 100, but still, they're not Uber. They're just giant magnets that fling molten hot metal at the enemies. And they're compact and require little energy, which explains the large numbers.

But, we haven't tested it to it's fullest capacity... No one has ever though of using the MAC at... LEVEL FIVE!! *cue mysterious music*

I got a really good turning point that will occur when the Admiral in charge of the Foe Hammer fleets decides to use... LEVEL FIVE!! *cue mysterious music*

"Ya I got a question," Phoenix says "Would a boarding party be able to get onto the Planet Killer and take it out from the inside? And what are the amounts of fighters we are dealing with?"In short, no, a boarding party would have no chance. Plus we have to make this strike fast, because the ship will escape if it has enough time to phase cloak and fold out, but that won't happen if we take it out before they can charge their coils and react.

As far as fighters... we don't know. We know there are at least 300 cap ships, so we could be encountering anywhere up to 30 to 50 thousand fighters. So just be prepared for anything.

A further 10 ships arrive near the fleet's position. They look like freighters, but are actually remote-controlled suicide ships, packed with explosives. They are built to smash into enemy fleet command ships and detonate themselves.

The LRR horde is careful not to come close to them. They will be sent in along with the torpedo barrage. The torpedos are armed with antimatter warheads, and more destroyers trickle in, bringing the LRR destroyer force to around 90.

Guys guys guys, calm down... the ZDF alone is committing 10,000 fighters and roughly 200 capital ships. And these guys's capitol ships are pushovers, we can take most of them out in one farad hit... especially if we catch them with their shields down.

And as for capturing or boarding... well boarding is suicide, and capturing will do no good as most of the ships there are either common alien tech or Capsule tech.

Be warned though, they may have at least 20 Farad weapons... at least.

Hopefully we won't HAVE to encounter their fighters, and do not deploy your own fighters until you absolutely have to. well, with Foe Hammer's FTL, it'd take him over 27 years to reach our target... so we'd probably have to just have him hitch a ride on our cascading hyperspace-fold drives... that's about a week-long trip then.

Total stats: 67 Heavy Farad Ships, 158 support capital ships, 10584 smaller attack craft. [/code:1:c8a8ae443f]Larissa looked over the long list of ships and squadrons currently present, ZDF, EDF, TDF, and all the allied forces.

"All ships and squadrons, please send your GO/NOGO confirmations to the CCSS Liahona."

She watched as a column of blue lights next to the list of ships suddenly began to turn green. After a minute, a few yellow lights were on, signalling that some of the forces needed just a few more minutes to prepare.

"Are we waiting on anyone else?"

The LRR fleet sends its list of GO/NOGO stuff to the Liahona.

The entire list is GO, except for the captain's chair on the Nelson Mandela, the lead ship of the fleet, which is a tad squeaky.

With Admiral Kucinich and Ix's battlegroups in Proxima, the Mandela is the only available battlegroup.

Larissa confirms the LRR status, and watches as the last of the fleet checks in.

"Ok everybody, here's the plan. I want all ships to be buddied up with at least one fold-capable ship. Farad Ships, I want you to see if you can't find a ship to jump with, and go ahead and charge up your main weapons.

"All ships: Have your weapons loaded, deployed, armed, and primed. Have your active targetting systems on, and prepare to target any and all spaceborne targets not of our fleet. Go ahead and program in the transponders of those around you so that your computer won't accidentally lock on. You will find many alien ships that your computer will not recognize, please remove your safety mechanisms and have those ships targeted.

"No probes have been launched, and enemy deployment patterns are unknown. Just bust in, and fire all guns.

"REMEMEMBER: Do NOT launch your fighters. We want to keep the smallcraft out of the way to leave room for the big guns. If you are somehow engaged at close range by fighters, then you may use your smaller attack craft.

"Everybody clear? Good."

The fleet begins to do as instructed, smaller ships grouping or linking up with Foldships. The capacitors in the foldships whirr as the drives warm up. All weapons on all ships deploy from their hatches, and crewmen man all the heavy weapons. The farad ships split their hulls and begin charging their energy.

"Countdown to fold, T-120 seconds."

The Phalanix battle group's fold capacitors humed and buzzed to life. They seemed like they were operating at the same time as the ZDF fold drives. Phoenix at that point began to walk over to a comand screan and looked at the smaller Hydra Star Striker that had recently joined them. "Glad to have some new weapons here," he says as he looks over the specs.

Larissa looked over the quickstats of the Hydra Cruiser.

"A little suggestion, wait untill the first wave of attack is over before using your missile weapons. We'll be attacking at a range of 500,000 kilometers."

"We use the drones for cover against enemy fighters. Except 2. The Blue Star Fire equiped ones, they are designed for large ships."

OOC: I wish TRSN and Foe Hammer were here... do you guys want to just go ahead and start the fight?

Here's the basic rules of how this will go down, being an NPC fight and all. When we fold into the battlefield, I'll tell you what the enemy forces look like, and where they are, and all that. I'll trust your judgement and storytelling ability on what kind of damage you deal and what kind of ship-to-ship tactics your enemies use, but I'll lay out the basic summary of events. Get it?

OOC: Just join in when you get the chance guys

IC:

The entire coalition enters spacefold in the same instant, and pops into position near Kershaw. Immediately spotting the large planet-killer mothership, Every ship fires it's first volley, mostly Farads. The waves of energy, already charged, soar towards the massive target, hoping to destroy it before it escapes. "Looks like we caught them off-guard!"

A good deal of the farad energy attacks hit guardian ships that stood close to the mothership to absorb hits, but the bulk of the beams hit the mothership dead on. It was an easy call to make that the ship would never survive. Beams cut through its hull, tearing sections apart, overloading coils, and adding so much energy to the ship that its coils collected enough power to swell up the ship's billows so much that they ripped apart at the seams, spewing raw energy out of every cracked pore of the mothership until it came apart, sending large chunks of debris everywhere, and creating a large shockwave that wiped out a few nearby ships.

Immediately, all ships opened fire with normal weapons, on both sides. Rail Gun slugs and beam weapons traded back and forth over the long distance as both fleets slowly moved towards each other.

Ships on either side were dropping like flies. When the 2 forces got to withing 10,000 km of each other, fighters begin to lanch from the red dragon ships.

The LRR fleet launches a full volley of torpedos at the Red Dragon ships, with mixed warheads, and then starts to manouver into a close engagement. They then start to fire in with ion and plasma cannons, and a small number of antimatter weapons.
