Xanthal

Xanthal's Elvish Senate chairwoman Alassë Calanor believes that it is the former. "I will be introducing a bill to the Xanthalian Senate today that will ensure the survival of my kind and others like us in Xanthalian society! Too long have we been dying off slowly! Xanthal will see the return of it's minorities!" said Calanor in her address on the subject to the Xanthalian public this morning. The announcement has prompted peaceful demonstrations throughout Xanthal, by minorities and Xanthalians alike, some on one side of the issue, some on the other.
"Saving minorities in Xanthal is a task too long left by the wayside," said one demonstration leader, "we must act now to preserve our cultural diversity!"
"All well and good, but at what cost?" said a counterprotestor, "This bill is a mockery of everything Xanthal believes in! We cannot tell these people that they can only breed with each other! That's a blatant violation of both of our government's prime directives! It singlehandedly deals blows to both Freedom and Equality! How can you possibly think that policing people's sexual activity will be better than just letting the minorities die out?"
"It is Xanthal's policy to not discriminate against any group, no matter what their race! The system forces many members of minority groups to breed with Xanthalians and even other minority groups! We must preserve our genetic purity!"
"The system forces nothing! Minorities marry other groups because there are so few of their own groups! And why is it so hard for you to believe that they don't honestly love another person, even though they are of different species and races?!"
So the debate rages. So far peace has reigned, but government officials warn of possible violent protest when the Senate votes on the bill. "It is no small thing to doom a minority group to oblivion, but what right do we have to force them to live together and proliferate? It's wrong, and you all know it!" said Theodore Ziff, a Xanthalian Senate member from Aellis VI, in today's Senatorial debates which were dominated by the Diversity Preservation Act talks.
