Nexus, Revenia, Rimside Sector, Outer Rim Alliance.
Chief Daraash Nikondak walked angrily along the girders. The magnetic attraction of the feet of his powered exoskeletal environment suit kept him firmly moored. The massive ring of shipyards around the planet Nexus was finally being expanded.
Of course, the ring wasn't solid, but it was kept in a nicely spaced ring formation, so they still called it a ring. His visor darkened reflexively, blacking out the arcs of the numerous fusion torches at work throughout the darkness around the luminous, beautiful, blue of nexus.
The planet was largely oceans, but there were a -lot- of islands. He absently increased zoom, and smiled. There was the crystal ball of Council Hall, right there. His eyes drifted about, and he smiled again.
There was the floating hulk that was the unfinished RNS Ascendant, the largest ship under construction at these shipyards in living memory. He saw the sleek ovoid hulls of numerous other capital ships, as workers swarmed over them.
He waved over a group of men, and they set about welding the next girder into place. The framework would be done soon, then they would set about doing the rest of it.
The Chief couldn't help but laugh. He was scheduled to ship out after the shipyards were done. He had received his training from Vysarian Stark himself, and the shortage of engineers had led to his being reactivated.
The Chief turned his attention to the void, the numerous small craft flitting between the planet and the massive behemoth of NexCon. He thought he spotted the spherical RNS Ian Stark out there, and he was damned sure that he saw the RNS Polecat too, flagship of the heroic Admiral Slink T. Ferret. Yeah, Admiral Slink was a good guy.
--
Slink smirked as his ship made its circle of the planet. Progress was moving at a steady rate. The next stage of construction on the Ascendant could begin as soon as the shipyards were done.
Slink relaxed in his command chair, and closed his eyes in rest. He was a little small for his full-sized command chair, but, the thing was too comfy to get rid of.
