*The Rangoth fleet starts to orbit a medium sized planet after traveling for 2 years.The size of the fleet orbiting blocks most of the light on the planet.On the bridge of the flagship "Clover," the crew scans for any life on the planet.Besides the normal animals, there is a humanoid colony on the west shore of the smallest continent (about the size of Australia).

The captain rubs the bottom of his chin as he thinks of the next decision.He turns on the com to the 10 large colony ships and the 5 marine ships.*

"Begin descent on the east shore of the smallest continent, coordinates 25 degrees south, 30 degrees west.Go in with normal landing procedure."

*He switches to all fleet com*

"Fleet is to orbit until the colony is established.Then we will Send a carrier into low orbit as com ship with the other colony on the planet.Forces are to stand on yellow allert until we discover if these others are hostile or not.Watch the skies for other ships in the system."

*He leans back in his command chair and watches the ships comply.The blue glare of the engines glows brightly into the bridge,casting odd shaddows in the room.*

*After the ships land the commander of the low-orbiting carrier designated the com ship with the planet,has the female com officer Janet, send a message on all frequencys to the other colony.He hopes that the female voice will get the colonys attention.*

"Greetings colony of other nation, we are the fleet of the United States of Rangoth.Establishing colonies amongst the stars and broadening the fatherlands power.We wish to establish diplomatic ties with your colony.Perhaps we could support each other in the construction of each others colony.Do you welcome diplomats?Respond."

*The message is sent every 5 minutes till the colony responds.

10 squadrons of 5 fighters each descend into the atmoshpere of the planet.The squads break apart and begin flying recon over the planet at high speeds.*

A Xanthalian Sabre class warship passing through the area picks up the activity and moves to orbit the planet.

*The Flagship spots the ship moving and hails it*

"Foreign ship,this is fleet command of the Rangoth fleet.State your business and affiliation"

*the tommer land space exploration fleet moves into orbit, without advanced sensors they do not detect any other ships in the area*

"This is the Sabre class Xanthalian warship XAS-194. We were passing through and picked up the activity here. We just finished our last assignment, so we decided to investigate. We are transmitting our ship's specifications to you now. If you want us to leave we will; we're not here to fight."

Sabre class (light tactical):
The Sabre class is designed to pack a strong punch in a small package. The Sabre class has only a few torpedo tubes due to the space required for storage, loading, and launching mechanisms; but it has many phaser and disrupter banks. Its shields are of mediocre quality, so the Sabre class cannot withstand a sustained assault. It uses great speed and maneuverability coupled with its small size to dodge attacks while firing its powerful weapons. An unimpressive warship on its own, the Sabre class can do enormous damage when in fleets.

*The flagship detects the other fleet and sends a small cruiser to it,but it stays just out of weapons range.*

"Other fleet,this is the U.S.S. Plague, of the Rangoth 1st fleet.Please inform us of your business and who you are."

*The cruiser matches speed with the other fleet and moves alongside it.*

Space Rangoth: OOC: Do you have something in mind, or am I allowed to make up who lives there?

"This planet is listed in our starcharts as an old Human settlement. Contact with them was lost shortly after they arrived just over one thousand years ago though. No one has been here since then. I guess they were just forgotten in the sands of time."

"Well,theres someone down there.We are going to send a squadron of fighters to investigate."

*The signal is sent to a squadron by the Rangoth colony,and they turn around,heading for it.*

"Estimated arrival,30 minutes"

*A space marine rushes into my office*
"Captain David!! We just recieved this transmission from another colony. "
I listened to the transmission and ordered that a message be sent in response:

"The Constitutional Monarchy of Eastern Newfoundland is the nation that has established a colony upon this barren wasteland. We will accept any diplomats you send, and I have ordered my sentries to be on watch for any ships from your colony. Maybe you could come in person and we would be able to have a chat face-to-face? I will be awaiting your reply."

*As my marine rushes back to the COM room I sip on my no-name cola and badly sing along to the Beatles CD playing loudly.*

Eastern Newfoundland: OOC: First person RP? Interesting style.

IC: "A squadron of fighters? How undiplomatic of you. Well, as long as the cavalry's going in I guess we ought to take a look too. XAS-194 out."

XAS-194 begins to decend into the planet's atmosphere, setting course to land just outside the colony.

Xanthal: OOC: Thanks :)

IC: The marine rushes into my office. "Captain, sir, a ship has just landed outside the Great Hall!"

"Excellent," I say. "Get my coat and my sand-speeder. I'm going out to meet them."

*I speed out to the ship, accompanied by a squad of my best machine-gunners, just in case.*

"Hello! Is anyone there?" I yell up into the ship.

There is a hissing noise, and the door of the ship opens slowly....

Eastern Newfoundland: OOC: Whos ship are you talking about? You need to be a bit more specific.

Well, I don't know yet do I? :wink:

OOC: Seriously, I meant yours, but it could've been anyone's, really.

OOC: Right...

IC: The main hatch opens and the boarding ramp lowers to the ground. Two armed security officers step out and stand at the top of the ramp, looking down at David. One of them calls out. "Hello there! Peace?"

I answer "We do not mean to harm you. Please come with us."

*We lead the two men back to the Great Hall, after removing their weapons and frisking them*

I say "Greetings. As you can see, the nation of Eastern Newfoundland has established a small colony of about 200 people on this planet. For now, our reasons for doing so and details of our colony will remain classified. Drink?"

After pouring the wine, I say "So what is your reason for coming to this planet?"

OOC: Sorry, I got to go...I'll be back later today. This is my first RP yet, and I must say this is tons of fun!!

OOC: Hold your horses there, cowboy. There are some rules you need to learn about forum RP. You can't control other people's characters. You cannot simply "lead" my people unless I say they follow you. Try that last post of yours again.

*The five fighter-squadron hovers over the colony,taking pictures of it and sending it back to the flag ship.The loud sound of hovering attracts stares,but they only stay there,soon causing those people to lose interest.After two minutes of hovering, the five fighters slowly fly over the colony.The lead pilot speaks to the flagship as he looks at the colony through a camera*

"Its very small sir.Mostly metal bulidings,made up of various types of metals.Seems primitve.Permission to land and investigate further."

*The commander waits then replys*

"Denied,return to the colony,it is now designated Homebase.We will send a diplomatic squad."

*The fighters comply and slowly gain altitude,then zoom off to base.A short while later a rectangle-ish ship flys down and lands on the outskirts of the other colony.The side door opens slowly.10 marines in full black body armor quickly swarm out of the ship,rifles on their shoulders.A diplomat comes out after them and stands just in front of the ship*

*The diplomat nods to a marine.The marine nods back and walks into the ship.He grabs a radio speaker and turns it on.In a rough voice he speaks into it, as his words bellows out of the ship and around the colony.*

"Send your diplomats!Send who you will, we are growing impatient."

*He turns it off then fires his rifle two times in the air.*

OOC: Hehe, sorry there Xanthal ;-) As I said, this is my first RP.
Let's try this again:

IC: I say to the men "We mean you no harm. Please remove your weapons and come with us."

Suddenly my radio crackles
"Sir, we have just recieved word that five ships have landed on the other side of the colony. They are armed and are demanding that we send over a diplomat."

I radio back "Tell them they will not get anything until they put away their weapons. We will not cause them any harm, but we cannot be sure that they will not harm us."

ooc: one ship,the 5 left.

"Come out or we will drive you out.We cannot afford to send our small force into your compound.We have been hailing you for hours,but we get no response.The one thing we can think of is that you are luring us in a trap.Come out."

OOC: oops, sorry LOL

IC: My radio blares: "Captain! They refuse to put away their weapons!"

I say, "Let me take care of this." I go to the COMs room and radio a message to the men standing outside the colony "I am sorry, but out of fear for the safety of my people, I will not let them leave the colony until you put away your weapons. We are peace-loving people. I urge you we are NOT leading you into a trap."

I sit back and wait for a reply.

for fear of your people,I think you should let us go if you will not come.Have you noticed the darkness on the planet lately?Look at the sky and you will see our fleet covering most of the skys.Would you all die for 13 men?Besides,I am sure that your weapons are much more primitve than ours."

As I recieved the message, I laughed. "You cannot fool me with your lies. Your nation is a mere 5 days old with a population of 10 million people. You could not afford, or have the time to get an army of such a large calibar. My nation is over twice the size of yours. This is your last chance. You are armed with only rifles, I have an entire base of defence. I do not want war, but I fear you will give me no choice. This is your last chance to back off. Either you lay down your weapons and I will admit you into my base, or you keep your weapons and leave now. The third choice is war, which you will undoubtedly lose. As I said before, we are a peaceful nation but I will do whatever it takes to protect my people."

OOC: Come on, no godmodding please.

The Captain of XAS-194 steps out of the ship to meet David. "Hello, I'm Richard Vanault, the captain of this vessel. I and my two guards will accompany you." He overhears the Space Rangoth transmission and a dark look crosses his face. He taps the communicator pinned to his chest. "Attention! This is Captain Vanault of Xanthalian Armada warship 194! Your fleets may be impressive, but I assure you that they are no match for ours! If you fire so much as a single unprovoked shot at this colony or any of its inhabitants we will destroy you. We can have over fifty warships here in under half an hour. Do not trifle with us. If you have nothing better to do than make threats against people who have shown you no bad will you had best pack up and leave now before somebody gets hurt."

ooc: have you been paying attention?This is only a branch of Rangoth,which has 1.136 billion citizens.It created the fleet and this is just the nation for its fleets,which have been given to it from Rangoth.

ic: "maybe,but the fatherland is much bigger than anything you have.A billion people............do you think that you can handle an army of 100 million?Stand down now.This is only a diplomatic squad.We have much better equpment than these rifles."

"Rangoth, you do not want to risk a war with us and our allies. Let's end this foolishness. Put away your arms and we'll talk."

Why should I put down my arms when he has my men being held there.If he does not stand down I will have to go in and rescue my men.

"Excellent," I say. "Please come with me. I have sent two of my men to attempt to deal with the Rangothians. " I lead Richard Vanault and his two guards into my office. "Good evening, sirs. As you can see, the nation of Eastern Newfoundland has established a small research colony here. The reasons for doing so, for now, shall remain strictly confidential."

"May I please ask what your reasons for being here are?"

Meanwhile, in the COMs room, my right-hand man is attempting to reason with the Rangothian "diplomats"...

"We are not "holding" your men in any way. They are free to leave. We fear only for our colony. We will not let ten armed strangers into our colony. Why are you resisting? We are not here to hurt you. Lower your weapons and we will let you in."

Captain Vanault looks perturbed. "Excuse me a moment please..." He taps his communicator, opening a secure line to his ship. "This is Captain Vanault to XAS-194. Commander, lift off. I want you ready for a fight. If they start shooting at the colony I want you to beam up my officers and then myself. Stay alert, we're standing knee deep in quantum torpedos here. One false move could mean a war."
"Acknowledged Captain. Lifting off now. We'll be in orbit and stay in communications range. Commander Saya out."

On the edge of the settlement, XAS-194 lifts off of the ground and heads for orbit, activating its shields to defend against any hostile action.

Back in David's office, the captain turns his attention back to his host. "My apologies, but as a ship captain it is my duty to ensure the safety of my vessel. You asked why we're here. It's very simple, actually. We had just finished a patrol assignment in pirate territory not too far from this system. Just as we were about to jump to slipstream we detected Rangoth's ships moving in on your planet. We were interested, so I ordered our course altered to intercept them. They said they were investigating and we decided to stick around. Then... Well, you know the rest. If I may be so bold, to whom am I addressing myself? You still have not told me your name."

*The diplomat mutters a curse*

"Fools,they will have to establish diplomatic ties sooner or later.Then they will have to come to us.Get back on board."

*The marines comply and get back on board, the diplomat follows them.The door closes and the ship sits there for a moment as marines strap down.The ship lifts off the ground with the engine seeming to want to go faster,roaring loudly.It steadily gains speed as it heads back to the homebase.

It lands on a large pad where several other vehicels are already parked.The diplomat steps out first and looks at the colony.Already a tall tower has been built by the construction crew.Around it small houses are already being built, and a large armoury connected to the tower.Ships seem to be constantly flying over the colony,launching off from fields outside of the growing city.

The crew walks into the tower to tell the commander of the results.They slowly approach a small comm device and begin the report to the commander in the flagship.*

oH NO

"Oh, I'm terribly sorry. Please forgive my rudeness. My name is Captain David LeBlanc. I was chosen by our Prime Minister to become head of our space program. After a long time we finally saved up enough money to buy a starship and enough supplies to build a small colony here on this planet."

"We would appreciate any support we can get against the Rangothians. WE are just a small research colony, and do not have many weapons. If a war starts we would almost certainly be wiped out. Our space program is still new and it could take weeks to get a sufficient fighting force up here from our homeland. Of course we will reimburse you somehow for your efforts. Will you please help us somehow? And any suggestions on how we can reimburse you?"

*My COM radio crackles*

"Evans here, sir. The Rangothian Diplomats seem to have left. What do we do now?"

I think for a moment, then radio back, "We want to avoid war at all costs. Send them this message: You may bring three, and only three, men armed with rifles, as well as one diplomat, to our gates. We will let you in then. Let me know what the response is immediately."

"Right away, captain. Evans out."

ooc: that landing pad thing......whos that to?

OOC: Sorry, that was to you. You landed on my launching pad, right?

ooc: no...................I went back to my place and landed on my pad

OOC: Sorry, I misinterpreted. I'l delete that part.

*When the diplomat finishs the report,the Eastern Newfoundland message comes through.The commander hears it as well.He thinks for a moment and looks out the window to the fleet.It looks peacful and eerie,seeming to just float there.He stands up then faces the screen again.*

"Bury your pride, do it.A war will not be a good thing to start off this journey."

*He turns off the comm then walks down to his room.He lies down and sighs.*

"So much pride is at stake here."

*The diplomat shrugs as the commander turns off the comm.He turns back to the marines and picks the three men.One accurate marksman, a man who had been a fencer back home, and a female wepons specalist.He wasn't going to provoke,but if it came down to fighting, he wanted to have the best men possible.He tells them:*

"Bring only a pistol, and a knife each," *nodding to the swordsman* "and for you a sword."

*He leads them back to the transport and gets in first.They strap down and it heads to the closest newfounland gate.*

Captain Vanault nods. "I understand your plight, but you must understand that we cannot give our help lightly. Rangoth is every bit as powerful as they claim to be. A Xanthalian warship firing on this fleet would almost certainly lead to a declaration of war. If a war started between our two nations, the outcome would be too close to call. Even if we won, our infrastructure would be badly shaken. I'm sorry Captain, but we can only make threats here today. I am not prepared to launch the Republic into a war. However, I may have an alternative. We can summon a heavy personnel transport to stay in orbit until this is resolved. If the Rangoth ships fire on you, the transport can beam you all up and take you to Xanthalian-protected territory until an arrangement can be made with your government."

"I understand completely. It would be much appreciated if you would summon a personnel transport. We will of course reimburse you in any way possible. Maybe grant you access to all of our laboratories, along with a healthy monetary sum?"

*My COM radio beeps*

"Evans here again, sir. The Rangothians appear to have responded to our request. They have three lightly armed men at our front gate."

"Excellent," I respond. "Send for them, and ask them to come to my office. But tell them if they try anything funny, they will regret it. LeBlanc out."

*I look out the window and see five of my men running towards the front gate, and a loud beeping noise as it opens slowly.*

Captain Vanault joins David at the window to watch as he taps his communicator. "Captain Vanault to XAS-194. Commander, contact Armada Command, I want a heavy personnel transport out here as quickly as possible."
"No problem Sir. We're keeping an eye on our friends up here too, so we've got your back for the moment. Shall we summon additional reinforcements?"
"Good question. No, I think it's best if we don't increase tensions any more than we must. Have them send the transport alone."
"Yes Sir. We'll call you back when they get here."
"Excellent. Vanault out."

The Captain turns to David. "What exactly are you researching here, anyway?"

*The men walk through the gate and follow the guards.The anger in having to sumbit to these people showed in his eyes.This had better be quick.The bodyguards can't help but turn on their thermal scanners.They look around and take notes on their personal recording devices of the data.One turns on the camera on his helmet to record the procedings.The blue body armor shines in the dim sunlight.They follow the guards back to the leader.*

I turn to Captain Vanault. "Thank you for your help. It is much appreciated. If you ever need anything, please do not be afraid to just ask for it."

"Now, as for what we are researching. I am not really supposed to talk about it much as it is top secret however since you have been so kind to us, I suppose I can show you what we are researching."

Just as I finished saying this, the door bursts open and in walks my men along with the Rangothians. I say to Captain Vanault, "If you would kindly leave us alone for a few minutes. Private Evans here will lead you to our laboratories. Please feel free to look around and make yourself at home."

I turn to the Rangothians. "Please, sit down. Welcome. I am glad to see tha you have accepted my invitation. As you may know, I am Captain David LeBlanc. I have been appointed leader of this research colony. We established this colony just a while ago, before we got your message. Now I must ask you: What are your names, and why are you here?"

Captain Vanault quickly sizes up the Rangothians before bowing to Captain LeBlanc. He then follows Private Evans to the laboratories.

*The diplomat sits down on a chair,but the marines stay standing.*

"Please excuse them,it is our training that they remain standing.They sit only when we tell them and when they are in transports.I am Mark Conley, the marines names aren't very important right now.

It is very simple,we are here because we have been ordered by the fleet commander to establish some form of diplomacy with you.We feel that it would not give us a good reputation if we declared war as we will once we arrive on planets.

We feel however that we could benifit mutually from an alliance.We have vast technological advantages we could share for a bit of resorces or some of your own research.

If you do not wish such an alliance,we are here to draw the territory lines...............Which will it be?"

OOC: Sorry, I was away for a while.

I quickly reply, "We are a peaceful nation. Of course we will accept your offer of an alliance. Please forgive me for not trusting you at first. However you must be able to understand the low military nature of this base and that we would not be able to defend ourselves if, for some reason, you decided to attack us. Which gives me an idea: perhaps, in return for some weapons, we would give you any research advances made here. Much of our research could be used to make very powerful weapons. If you accept, I will take you down to join Captain Vanault and show you all research taking place in the laboratories."

*The diplomat sighs and responds in a normal tone*

"I am sorry,but all I am authorised to do now is to establish an alliance, I cannot promise any weapons in trades.Our organization is very strict on such things.I will consult it with my commander.He will then give the details to trading to you.......For now,I would ask you to sign these two copies of a Non Agression Pact for now,till our alliance is deatiled."

*Out of his coat the diplomat places a pen and two copies of the pact.*

"I will sign after you."

"I understand."

After reading the agreement, I sign on the dotted line, and pass it back over to the diplomat.

*Mark signs it then puts his pen back into the inside pocket of his coat.He offers his hand to the captain.*

"As promised,as soon as I return to my office,I will contact the commander and arrange the details of the pact.Perhaps the next meeting can be coordinated in our colony.It is coming along rather nicely.YOu might be interested in the gate we are building.From what I can understand it uses some top secret technolodgy to establish a wormhole,if you will, with one of the gates in Rangoth.Unbelievable that we live in an age such as this?I'd be happy to give you a tour of the colony.It is not finished,bt we have already arranged where everything will be."

I take the diplomats hand and shake it. "You, and anyone from your colony, now have my authorization to come and go to here as you please."

" And I would love to have a tour of your colony." My office door opens. "Please, lead the way."

"Once we arrive at the colony,I must regretebly inform the commander of these procedings.However,you can have any of these 3 marines here show you the way around."

*He walks out the door first and heads to the gate that they came from*

"You can come in our transport or go in one of your own."

OOC: Well, I don't think so, as I am RPing in the first person. I was going to leave that up to you as to what you saw. If you would prefer that I did, however, I will.

IC: Private Evans leads Captain Vanault into a large building. They go into an elevator, Evans punches a code into a box, and the elevator starts to descend. "Our scientists have been expiramenting with quantum physics. They believe that chemicals in the soil on this planet, when combined with other top-secret synthetic materials at very high temperatures and pressers alter the quantum states of the matter and can actually produce electricity. If the scientists can get a working prototype, this could mean as big a discovery, if not bigger, than the splititng of the atom. "

They step out of the elevator and Evans shows Vanault around the laboratories. "There's not much to see yet, as the prototype has yet to be built. But this discovery could change our lives. It could power millions of homes on just a speck of matter."

"So do you have any questions? Or would you like to go back up to the surface again?"

The Captain looks at the data gathered so far. "Impressive. We have something similar. It's called an Infinate Energy Core. It draws energy from another dimension. Infinate supply of energy, no refueling. It's very useful."
His communicator beeps. "This is XAS-194 to Captain Vanault."
The captain pauses and replies. "Go ahead."
"XAV-997 has arrived. It's moving into orbit now."
"Good. We probably won't be needing them if the talks between our two counterparts have gone well but like they taught us at the academy; it's always good to have a backup plan. Keep your eyes open, we may be leaving soon. When I get back to the surface with my guards beam them up. I'll let you know when to fetch me."

Captain Vanault turns to his escort. "Let's head back to the surface, I want to speak to Captain LeBlanc again before I decide on my next course of action."

*I turn to the diplomat. "I'll take your transport, if I can, please."

Meanwhile, down in the labs...

"Alright. I'll try to locate him for you." Evans says. He takes out his COM radio. "This is Evans to LeBlanc, please respond. Over"

"Sir, Captain Vanault would like to speak with you again."

"Hmm, I am leaving now to go to the Rangothian Colony. But take him up to the front gate and we will wait for you. Maybe he can come along, if he wants. Over"

Captain LeBlanc turns to the Diplomat. "Would it be alright if Captain Vanault would come with us to your colony?"

The two Xanthalian guards beam back to the ship while Vanault proceeds to the front gate.

Evans leads Vanault back to the front gates.

Captain Vanault addresses David. "I take it that you reached an agreement?"

I respond, "That's correct. In fact the Rangothians are now taking me back to their colony to show me around. I'm sure they will let you come as well, if you are interested. Once again I would like to thank you for your support during our short period of trouble. If you ever need anything, please do not be afraid to ask."

"I'll be fine, I'm sure. Good luck with your research. I've transmitted contact information for the Xanthalian government and the Armada to your colony. If you hit choppy waters don't be afraid to call. We'll help you out somehow."

He shimmers and disappears from the planet's surface. A few minutes later, both XAS-194 and XAV-997 leave orbit and engage their slipstream drives, speeding out of range at several million times the speed of light.

I watch as Captain Vanault dissapears, then I turn on my radio. "This is Captain Leblanc. Please send a telegram to the Rangothians reminding them about this thread....." ;-)
