Academic War Institue, Adranor city, FTR (Federal Datalinks):
"Clear expectation and speculations rose few hours ago here, at the Academic War Institute of Adranor city, when Security Chancellor Veacras Askadiar gave in with the radical changes that will soon strike the federal armed groups. Here is what he said early in the morning:
"...and in such a picture, figures from all the military arm of the federation have, through long months of debate and deliveration, completed the new and radical plans for the reconstruction of the Divisions, the Methil'Thalas Protocol..." "...including, among several other deep structural changes, the complete decomission of the Sea Armed Division. A massive reequipment and redisigning of the Land Armed Division, that will supply the loss of sea-based weaponry. The definitive installement of a federal space-born fleet, the Space Armed Division, that will be achieved through the completicion of the new and cutting-edge orbital stationary dry docks, on federal sky..." "...expecting to complete the long road for a new and worthy military, that we have been following for nearly half a century already"
"Those were the words of the Security Chancellor, indicating some of the changes that will modify the face of our armed groups from now on. However, little to none information was disclosed on the federal plans for the announced Space Armed Division, as everything has been keept into tight security and discrecy. We will keep you informed. From Adranor city, capital of the Federation, this was a report of Ithlonnos Dusil, for the Federal Datalinks"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The press conference was simply a updating, a notice for the population to know that the Armed Divisions have been restless, yet highly secretive, on the issues surrounding the Methil'Thalas Protocol which, unlike what the general press belived, has been under effective use for the last four decades. Military spending has greatly increased, reaching nearly a 7%, in comparizon with the 1.2% the federation spend half a century ago.
Through all these years, the extensive naval forces had been reduced gradually, to avoid awaking too many suspicious voices of the pacifist parties. The Land Division now was equiped with a completely new host of vehicles and troops, that could well replace all the older uses of the sea fleets.
And, most importantly, after nearly one hundred and fifty years of space ocupation, the Federation was finnaly under works to create a fleet powerfull enough to assure permanent defense of it's interests, which have grown exponentialy the last half of the century. Designs and parts were ready, for the several models that would populate the fleets. However, the dockyards were not yet finished, and it would take at least six more months to do so. Summed up with the construction of the ships, the whole operation and completicion of the Protocol was still at least seven years away, despite the inmense capacity of the docks and the previous construction of nearly every structural piece of the ships.
