Xanthal was founded on the principles of fairness and equality, yet we see hate everywhere we turn. Whether it is directed against homosexuals, catholics, Elves, or any other person or group of people hate devides us all. We the People of the Socialist Republic of Xanthal wish to take the opportunity to voice our small piece in this sea of voices that makes up the NationStates universe. "Love your neighbor and your countrymen. Let us all live together in peace for both ourselves and future generations. Let us lend our hands to bring the less fortunate up even as those at the top lift us up. We are much more alike than we are unalike, no one person's principles should be allowed to overshadow or quash another person's. Let us recognize that each and every sentient being, regardless of species, race, religion, age, or other distinguishing characteristic, serves an equal purpose in the Universe and has a right to be themselves, however they wish to be. For those that would harm others, let us help to rehabilitate them and bring them into the fold of our great societies. Everyone deserves a second chance, and the ticket to the future is always blank."

A second chance? Over a billion have fallen to the Red Dragon's armies, and you want us to try to rehabilitate our enemies? I'm sorry, but Justice must be served.

Diplomacy should always preceed war. When one is surrounded by the violent one sometimes must become violent to survive. This is the unfortunate reality of living in our universe.

What you have written here today is a wonderful message, and I truly wish it does not fall on deaf ears. All too often we fall into our lower urges, and let our nature overcome our reason.

Even Tersanctus is at war now with the country of Al Anbar. But this is too find and depose Saddam Hussein, guilty of crimes against Humanity. Justice to the nearly million people who have died by his hand or orders, must be served.

Tersanctus: Justice must be served, this is true. But we have this to say on that:
Let justice be carried out, but let it not be carried out without great thought. In war every explosion may claim many combatants, but the sad truth is that it is nearly impossible to avid civilian casualties. That is why we urge that surrender always be requested of the enemy before the firing begins if at all possible. If it is all in vain and the fight must be joined, watch your every shot. Remember that your targets are not just "enemies", they are people; and with every bullet that finds its mark you have claimed a life. Sometimes this is necessary, but we urge the use of nonlethal arms and disabling shots rather than killing shots.
We live in somewhat of a dreamland, this we know. It all sounds so simple to say, yet it is so hard to do. Still, it never hurts to try. If you can save one hundred lives, ten lives, or only one life; then your efforts have been more than worth it.

This is very true, civilian casualties are nearly unavoidable. If we could request a surrender, and oust Saddam and his senior military and government officials, without further bloodshed, we would do without hesitation. But as Edmund Burke once said, "The only thing necessary for evil too triumph, is for good men to do nothing."
