OOC: Blast from the past, MOFOS YEAH. This resolves issues from…uh…ages ago…and sets up part of Milantos’ current storyline.

Posted with consent from Melkor, and with his input.

The bronze blade found a home in Kanoruin’s fiery flesh. Turning his head, Pagan saw two more balrogs leap in to help their leader.

“Ha! Come on, all of you! Come feel the power of the Opal Kingdom!”

One charged straight into the spear. The shaft disintegrated, but the steel, blessed by the Pope herself, stayed there, deep inside the demon.

Pagan dragged his sword clear of Kanoruin, and rolled out of the way of a downward sword thrust. Hacking again at the Maiar’s leg, he felt transferred heat flash down his arm. Crying with pain, he saw black ichor dribble from the wound he had inflicted.

And then the whip of the third demon curled around his midsection. Roaring with pain, he drove his bronze sword into the skull of the monster. It collapsed, but not before Kanoruin had drawn his flaming sword across the black man’s chest.

Then, without a word, the balrogs loped off, Kanoruin leading them. The senior Maiar limped heavily, and ichor dripped from the two wounds. Two dead monsters were left behind.

There was a smell of heated flesh, and then a sparkle in the air. Pagan felt his lifeblood drip away. A figure came into his vision. A top hat, cane and tailed suit. Ah, the Baron.

“Welcome, my dear Baron…have you…” Here he coughed up a gobbet of blood. “Have you come to see my handiwork?”

“It’s not bad handiwork, your majesty,” replied the Baron, looking at the two corpses.

“How many did I get?” asked Pagan.

“Two. And I reckon you wounded their leader something hard too.”

“That’s…good…” Suddenly, Pagan fell silent.

“Goodbye, your majesty,” whispered the Baron, bowing his head.

And Pagan, King of the Opal Kingdom, was dead.

The blows of Melkor’s mace were beginning to tell on Legion. He…It…They were weakening.

Hold together, Legion. Remain strong. We must do what we can. pulsed Mary.

The spirit-warrior plunged one blade straight towards the Vala’s heart, trying to end the fight once and for all, but the blade was swept aside as if it was nothing. And yet, just as Melkor rose to give a killing blow, the other blade seared across his abdomen, motes of light tearing into his darkened soul as the sword cut a long, deep wound into his stomach.

Roaring with rage, Melkor barrelled Legion down, causing the spirit-warrior to finally dissolve into its component souls…but much damage had been done.
