OOC: If a Steel Butterfly Civil War was to break out...?

Steel Butterfly
21-12-2003, 00:38
I'm thinking of somehow making a civil war break out between the empire and a colony of mine. I don't have much to say here, due to the fact that I don't want any information getting out on the topic, but I do wonder...

If a Steel Butterfly Civil War broke out...what side would you support?

Please vote in the poll and then say why you voted as you did. A "neutral" vote does not require an explanation...although if there is a specific reason why you are neutral as opposed to something else, feel free to post anyway.

Probably support the Empire politically (pending involvement of certain alliances), unless said Colony looked like it was gonna win. Then, who knows?
Steel Butterfly
21-12-2003, 00:46
Who voted for "support the rebels" and why?

This is all OOC...so if you say who you are, I can't use it as a reason to invade your nation or something.
Tirah
21-12-2003, 00:47
Neutral, Tirah is just an colony of the CEP.
Roania

I vote in the favor of the Empire... though I leave in two days, so it's all moot.

I don't know enough about your nation, but I'd have to say that, from what I can see in your dossier, you are a bit too oppressing.

Hell, even for me.

Take up arms against you. Sorry.

We don't hold for rebellions.

OOC:moot though because I only got enough internet time on the weekending to do anything anymore.

Personally for the most part it would depend on the reasons each side has.
Though there are factions in DN that will most likely support the rebels, especially if the King doesn't
21-12-2003, 00:55
Take up arms against the empire. I doubt I need to explain why.
Thelas
21-12-2003, 01:01
I would probably spin both sides off each other, then when both have nearly killed each other, the Thelas Star Navy would swoop in and "restore" the "proper" goverment. In other words, I would put a puppet on the impirial throne
21-12-2003, 01:02
Oh oops im not future tech anymore forgot.
Knootoss
21-12-2003, 01:05
OOC: We would remain neutral... perhaps use it as an ability to advertise SATO goodyness, and enhance our cuddlyness factor by sending in the SATO Directorate of Compassionate Relief.

EDIT:
For the children... of course.
They tend to be forgotten so easily in war.

I'd support the Empire, because Revolutionary Governments are always eager to "Spread the news"
The Eastern Bloc
21-12-2003, 01:20
I would definitely support the Empire. Nemerov has been a just leader for the most part, and even the Skymarhal isn't that bad.

I would support the Empire, but I am not in this tech. period, so..

Remain neutral.Civs are too bloody.
Valinon
21-12-2003, 01:41
OOC: I would support the Empire, initially with concealed aid, but later on with outright military support. I want to be on your good side since I think you may be trying to gain interests in Alpha Centauri.

IC:
Officially the Empire of Valinon would have to remain neutral until otherwise decided upon by His Majesty Emperor Rowald Alderman I and the Imperial Diet.
Kryozerkia
21-12-2003, 01:54
I'd remain neutral... I hate the sight of blood...unless its that of my enemies...
21-12-2003, 02:04
OOC: Declare neutrality offically while supporting both sides and once they are both weakened send in Peacekeepers and Humanitarian Aide and then lure the people into joining the Church of The Word and being Synchronized, once enough people are Synchronized force Synchronize the rest and rule Steel Butterfly as a territory of Synchronized.
Kaenei
21-12-2003, 02:19
OOC: Remain neutral. Kaenei does not enter conflict lightly, and only under grevious circumstances. We have neither relations nor problems with Steel Butterfly. As such, we would not intrude.
Kecha
21-12-2003, 02:20
If Synchronized entered such a fight, Kechan Warriors would surley enter on the side of the Empire.

Tremalkier would make sure to support whichever side was losing. We would want nothing more than the maximum destruction to take place in Steel Butterfly, but at the end we can assure you that we'd support SB...that is of course because in doing so we could attack and annex part of the area in rebellion...whereas annexing SB directly would be cause for future war.

Im new to the NS forums, but not entirely new to RP or Ns in general, I would have to support the Empire because, although i dont know you personaly ((ooc or ic)) i have heard numerous good things about the Empire, ((ooc and ic)) from friends and contacts of mine

That is if i got involved at all, somethings are just to big for lil ole me :)

so, if this happens, best of luck

Q: What would the rebels be fighting for (other than independence, obviously)? Democracy? Better civil rights?

Not in the technology period... so neutral...

I would be whimpering.

Actualy, I would stay nutral. I learned my lession after Elara's civil war. Although i would probably declare war if I deamed it threatening to my nation

That's stupid. My leader destroyed GDODAD and is fiercly anti-GDODAD Mk.III (The current one)
Sketch
21-12-2003, 03:51
Sketch would promptly come to the aid of the empire. Any instabilities are unacceptable, and would be purged at the first opportunity. Damn rebels..........
21-12-2003, 04:12
It would really depend on what the basis for the revolt was. If the rebels were fighting for freedom from an oppressive governemnt, I'd send in my armies to smash the empire. If they are just trying to form an evil dictatorship or something like that, then I'd send in my armies to smash the rebels.

Damn. Oh, well. Back in the days of the original, I was only a week old, so they were a real problem, a constant cause of worry. I'd like to see them try anything now.

Heh, I remember that. Garrosen II threatened to invade n00b nations at will during the same time. Being new is scary.
21-12-2003, 04:45
You're telling me. I bet you didn't have them try to recruit you. I made an alliance with one of their smaller meber nations when my nation was only a few days old. I didn't even know about GDODAD until he offered me a chance to join them. I did a background check on them, and told him no thanks. It's a good thing I did too, because a few weeks later, GDODAD was gone.

No, never was recruted. I took matters into my own hands and began forming the ASN (Alliance of Smaller Nations) Only a few of us still exist, and I am the only active forum one. Oh well..... We had about 10-15 members at it's hight

I slowly manipulated the leadership of GDODAD and quickly rose to the top. Then, I began major reforms, bending the alliance at my will. When my reforms were not followed, and new ones were brought forth, I promptly quit, ruining the alliance faster that I ever could have imagined.

Free Outer Eugenia
21-12-2003, 07:12
That would depend entirely on the character of the rebellion. Many indaviduals and associations within the Free Outer Eugenian Federation of Anarchist Communes are more than willing to offer aid to a true social revolution.

The Evil Overlord
21-12-2003, 16:17
The Dominion would probably remain neutral. Getting involved on one side or the other would depend on:

A) The tech level involved

B) Who else was playing

C) The relative merits of each side's cause

The most probable result would be for His Omniferocity to take the position that this is an internal Steel Butterfly issue, declare that the Dominion would not be taking part, and flood the area with intelligence personnel to pick up any useful tidbits that may arise during the chaos.

They would even go so far as to assist in the immediate destruction of the rebels.

So people call me the Space Cowboy, others call me the... umm...nevermind about that.

Tremalkier is just a superpower that is always ready to inflict damage on potential threats. You have power, thereby you correlate into a threat on our people's dominance. That cannot be tolerated should there be ample opportunity to take you down a few notches. Never fear, Tremalkier will will appear wherever there is land to be gained, and powers to be humiliated.

oh, and without a doubt, you would see the rebels armed with weapons bearing the "MADE IN LCS" logo all over them.

OOC: Crush the rebels!
Kill them!
Bash them!
Mame them!
Drown them!
Shred them to pieces!

IC:
Provide fullscale military retalliation against all rebellous elements.
Make sure none of the rebellous elements can proceed with his plans.
Use of lethal force is suggested.
Ever thought about aboloshing those anti-torture acts?
Military experts agree: if the enemies are in trenches, flood the trenches.
Always remember to divide the opposing forces into tiny groups, so that your forces can deal more easily with them...
