New year, new NS order?

Are we in the third generation of NSers?

Most original starting members have gone ("the old old days") and were replaced with the group of 2003. Now many of these 2003 members are leaving and a new group seems to be forming now from late 2003 members. The ranks of veterans are thinning now, but nations like mine who have stuck around becoming the new veterans?

Opinions please. 8)

There aren't too many first geners around anymore. Being a second gener, I think there are still alot of us. And I think this october-december group are the fourth gen.

start-feb 2003 =1st
march 2003-may 2003 =2nd
june 2003-september 2003=3rd
oct 2003- dec 2003=4th

but thats just how i consider it.

Possible generation map
1st - founding members, environment of no moderation
2nd - Interest picks up, moderation introduced
3rd - Late members, NS improvements with issues and new features. Moderation now accepted by most
4th - New members, established rules and moderation system

OOC: Yeah, RPers without the patience to do a long RP are great. I'm one of them. I've managed to be in 3 50 page plus rps. My friend made one, and got pissed when I told him it was dead with no chance of ressurection.

I have a job and I can only RP when everyone has gone to sleep. Starting an RP is a pain when you simply aren't around to keep it going.

I was one of the first mods... and that rule over NS was perfect.. lazy... laidback...

But now these stringenet rules and regulations. Well I say nuts to them. Yes, there I said it nuts to them. Everything was nice and fine back in the good ol' days.

Yeah, that kind of thing doesn't happen anymore. It was a time where there were few RPs and they certainly didn't have weird tiutles like they do now...

They started with relatively simple things, like the sale of slaves and the etc.

'Twas a grand time indeed, and you young whelps can't know how grand it was.

Yes, indeed, back in my day, we didn't have fancy, shmancy issue submitions, international incidents forums, nor any moderation. Back in my day when we see some sick image, we didn't whine modalert and wait until it was cleaned up we awrned people with other threads not to visit it, which in effect led to curious people (like me) looking at that sick pciture, even though they wouldn't have, but then they saw that thread, and boy! There was some sick shit back then. Yes, indeed.

I remember back when I started every topic made would get atleast half a page of responses, no one ever bumped threads because there were always people posting. Now to get 1 response you have to bump a thread like 3 times.
And there wasn't that much ignoring people would just negiotate changes for RPs if they didn't like something that was being used instead of having this :"OMG GODMOD! IGNORED! I DEMAND U CHANGE THAT RIGHT NOW U HAVE 1 TOO MANY TANKS! CHANGE IT RIGHT NOW OR RP A DESTROYED ECONOMY!"

I think the former newbs are now the veterans. People like Isla de Penguinata, Nankin, Ferrussia, Rukemia, myself...

Although LE, AMF, and Melkor are still around too...

well I started the end of april and we had ignore tech back then but I remember it being more of a joke like a person goes "yeah sure...you can have that...guess what? YOUVE BEEN PWNED BY MY IGNORE CANNON!"

Now people make actual RPs around the ignore cannon. Nothing like reading a 2 page long post to find out you've been ignored.

or the pseudo ignores where the person has to post in everyone of your threads reminding you your ignored.

When I came in in early april, this was the greatest thing ever. I got involved in the Midnight/Anti-Ragnarok wars and eventually joined the GDODAD. Back then, there were great RPs. I left the GDODAD the first time it died. As more and more n00bs flooded the forums, they got crappier and crappier. This is generally my fallback when I have nothing to do. (Which is why I'm on multiple times a day.)

There needs to be some way to keep the n00bs from crapping up the forums. There has to be a way. Maybe the mods should just go around getting rid of n00bs. I mean, more so than usual. If a n00b shows absolutely no potential, they should be gotten rid of.

We could have n00b forum where newcomers can train and not muck up real RPs, but then this is elitism. Cracking down on n00bs might not work as most "idiots" stay for a short time unless they go creating 5000000 puppets. Oh well ...

I think the main problem with noobs having trouble fitting in is NS got too hard to play esspically wars. When I started wars were simple you took your economy, got your budget picked a resonable percentage of your population and you had a military. Based on your economy is how much heavy equipment you could afford. You could stretch Realism by adding in things that might be available in 10-15 years and no one would argue.

Now to fight a war without being called a godmodder or a noob you have to know about every single step of the supply line. God forbid your military is better then the U.S. your a godmodder. If you break one rule of realism your a godmodder. Its not fun having to spend 3 hours going "well lets see I sent this many ships this many troops so Im going to have to send this many supply ships, with this and this."

Wars? Bah, back in my day you didn';t have wars. All you had was diplomacy. I lost my war, because I was afraid to act as a dominant force in the issue, but hell the diplomacy and all was hairraising, the war itself was nothing compared to the events culminating to it.

If you look hard enough, there are some very good rps out there, mostly private to keep out the stupid noobs. There are noobs though who do not act like noobs, and are able to make great rps. In a war I was involved in, I was the biggest nation, at 123 million people, most of my allies were anywhere from 35-80 million in size, but we all knew how to rp, and the best of it was the maps and the summeries we use to do. I would make maps of the combat theatre, another would make a summery, another an ORBAT, and everything went swell. Too bad I kinda lost touch with those guys, I really miss the good times... :(

I wouldn't know how it is nowadays but then again theres nothing to diplomacize about except some stupid ideals, charters, and international laws. Pointless. Now when your trying to prevent a war... thats diplomacy. Besides this game is not made for war, since there must be a dominant opponenet and a submissive one. Frankly, not a lot of people like the submissive role, so eventually it degenerates to bickering over godmodding. ]

You're incredible prejudice against new players is astounding. You talk badly about them as if it gives you a boost to your own pitiful self-esteem so you can make yourself out to be haughty and elite amongst the castes.

Yet in general, Marathon is being voted one of the most beloved and missed nations in NS, ranking high as the greatest nations passed.

Odd how things like that work out, and of course a natural reply would be, "But no one cares what happens in General anyway." Or something contributing to that ideal.

No, I don't believe you are joking around. I think you just don't like the taste of toejam now and are backing down. Have a little more equality between brothers and sisters of mankind. Don't speak harshly about each other, the whole 'Discipline with a Gentle Hand' ideal works well.

Just show a bit more compassion and understanding, and a bit less yelling, finger-pointing, and prejudice bigotry.

Jeez man why are you taking this so seriously, I'm only joking around... we all are... Besides I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to Norahc with that post. I mean seriously, man your worse than Marathon.

ROFL Wow you really are serious, maybe you should lighten up a little I mean seriously... "equality between brothers of sisters"? Come on, you can not be serious with that? "Predjudice bigotry"? Wow I mean, seriously...

Please go ahead and point to one post outside of this thread that I made against newbs, called anyone a newb or "ignored" a person. Go ahead find it, but then again I'm such a predjudiced elitist pig that I probably hid them eh?

And I knew Marathon well enough and I liked him well enough, but he pissed many people of with his stringency about things, so thus I comared him to you. Really man, easy up a little. I mean someone really has his underwear in a bunch.

Think you could be a little less over bearing? I think a simple - "I'm right, you're wrong" would have sufficed, without the additional face grinding in the dirt. :P

Treat everyone the way you wish to be treated. But what if I want to be treated bad? Well...........sucks to be you.

Hell, I'm not wrong... And he's not right. He's just deluded about my stance on this issue.

It only takes one instance to show your Elitism. It doesn't have to be outside this thread. It's right here in this thread. Why should it have to be anywhere else. Stop hiding your guilt and apologize.

Power to the elites! In that case Byzantium is a class traitor and must be terminated! Death to the newbs! Death to them all! A veteran NS!

Ugh I cant stand diplomacy threads or meeting threads. they are all pulp. I dont know how it was back then but every time I read a diplomacy thread now I just cringe it takes 10 pages for the representatives to just arrive with all the stuff people put in. ]

I agree with you on that. I get into alot of wars and use just massive force on my enemies and they always complain how its not fair. The best one is when a noob(either an actual noob or a forum noob i.e. guy who was here for 5 months and only had 3 posts) opposes one of my policies and demands I change my policy and tries to blockade me. So of course I refuse launch a pre emptive strike on their blockade and they freak out saying its not fair.
I actually got tgrams from people saying "That wasn't supposed to happen you were supposed to give into the ultimatum say your sorry and change your policy. You weren't supposed to start a war over it! All I wanted was a good RP where the right thing happened in the end with the good guy winning like he should!"
