Confederate News Service: Patoxia Begins Building Nation-Wide Tunnel System
Starbridge, Patoxia – The Confederacy of Patoxia has announced that it has begun to construct a nation-wide tunnel system, starting with city wide systems and later building tunnels connecting cities. The push for a tunnel system came from a coalition of citizens fed-up with the often cold and harsh conditions of the country, which is located on most of Sakhalin Island and part of the Russian mainland.
The island of Sakhalin has long been known for its treacherous climate of cold winds, impenetrable fog, treacherous tides, rugged coastal cliffs, and ice covered shores. The average temperature in January on the northern parts of the island is -23°C (-10°F) and in July the average only rises to about 15°C (59°F).
Senator Joseph Raynor, a major proponent of the plan, told CNS (that) “It's too dang cold out! It's hard to put on so many dag-blasted layers just to visit the local store! Tunnels would be a lot more convenient and would lessen cabin fever in the country.” Environmentalists have also backed the plan as some future plans include underground stores, facilities, and living spaces, lessening urban sprawl.
