Military Coup in Hrstrovokia

As of the 17th of December, the Federal Republic of Hrstrovokia is under the control of National Security Council.

Last night, soldiers of the Federal Army stormed the Dassau Building, where the National Council resides. Chancellor Tesygran, along with the rest of the National Council were taken to a undisclosed location outside the city. General Otakar made an announcement later, declaring himself head of state. The Bundesversammlung was dissolved, as were political parties and trade unions. The constitution was suspended and martial law imposed across the state.

The Federal Army has total control of Marinth, where they were unopposed by civilian authorities such as the Police. It appears, for now at least, that this was a bloodless coup.

The National Security Council has ordered the immediate return of military units in the United African Republic of Lusaka and the Confederacy of Boroglia, in what appears to be an attempt to strengthen its position against a counter-revolution.

The Federal Army is patrolling the capital of Marinth, as well as the major cities of Schatorioff, Saschen, Larakas and Beyol to ward off any disturbances. It appears that the entire military is willingly co-operating with the coup d’etat.

Earlier today, the National Security Council closed down the TV networks, seized the communications exchange, prevented the circulation of papers and forbid Journalists and reporters alike, either domestic or foreign, to travel or to make any contact with the outside. The Airports have been closed off to foreign craft.

In the last communiqué from Hrstrovokia, Reuter’s reporter Kevin Muscat relayed information that the border crossings had been shut down by the army.

It is expected that General Otakar will make an announcement later today.

Good Evening Hrstrovokia.

Today is a historic moment in the life of this state. It is this moment that we have succeeded in sweeping the state of the incompetent, blundering, bickering and bureaucratic politicians, who have led us blindly from crisis to crisis. It has always been my great lament that we, such lions, should be lead by lambs.

Those days have been consigned to history. With the guidance of the National Security Council, the Federal Republic of Hrstrovokia will emerge once again on the world’s stage as a dominant power, not to be ignored.

It is a great encouragement to me that the revolution has occurred without bloodshed, without opposition, for it has proven to me that the people are with us. I know you are fed up with the ineffectiveness of the Government, its humiliating failure in Boroglia, its oppressing measure’s against the Catholic Church.

It has also proven that Hrstrovokia is free of undesirable elements, which would ultimately need removing. Free of this task, the rebuilding of the state can begin with haste. The rapid expansion of the armed forces, the doubling of essential war materials and such are of great importance.

Manpower must be mobilised, unemployment absorbed, new industries established, research undertaken and production rationalised.

The reunification of Hrstrovokia is our task. Recovering the lands, resources and living space lost to us in the First World War is our ultimate priority, one which we will never drop, never. South Tyrol, Istria, Dalmatia, Bohemia, Moravia, Hungary and Slovakia shall be ours again, as they rightfully were.

The injustice meted out to us in 1918 has never been forgotten. It can never be forgotten.

Long Live Hrstrovokia!

Lusaka.. frankly is unsure how to react.

Igomo's government means to watch closely the developments, and hopes of course to maintain strong ties to Hrstrovokia, but until more is known of the new order, New Lusaka City refrains from offering official reaction.

OOC: It is a bit of an extreme departure from the norm alright, hopefully I'll get defeated before I get off the ground :)

ooc: Heh, well, I'd be glad to help.. Igomo would probably be brash enough to invade via Boroglia, even.. but as you're vaguely aware we've considerable need for every man we can get on the western border at the moment.
